  • theres only 6 suites....

  • Who's the mysterious dancer in the background? Or was that some kind of reflection off the TV screen?

  • This section is the opening of a 20 minute work of original choreography to 7 Bach Cello Suites. The performance was in NYC last February and this video was recorded during dress rehearsal. The video artist was standing in the audience stage left, so that the cellist (Emmanuel Feldman) was in the foreground. The dancer was performing on a 30 x 40 stage in solo. The cellist was on the side.

  • Does a solo requires more inventive than a concerto coreography? For musicians many times a solo needs more detail conscience, for coreographers is the same?

  • i like this interpretation more than rostropovich. i don't think bach is supposed to be played so stiff

  • i agree... but my problem with most versions of this song is that i feel its rushed. this song is much more beautiful at a much slower pace.

  • Who is the dancer?

    Beautiful video

  • Played from the heart. Thank you.

  • damn. wish the sound quality was better. Other than that this is very fine. Thank you :).

  • i agree, its very well performed on both ends.

  • Im not a cello player ,the music was ok, but was that good dancing?

and why was that person dancing certainly not to the cellist

  • The dancer was dancing to the music of Bach.

  • the audio & video are waayy out of sync... otherwise, pretty interesting...

  • ya interesting

  • the way the lighting is... it makes the dancer look to be in the musicians thoughts. very well done.
