  • You cant ever compare this song is unique....

  • I got my first U2 Rattle album (cassette) back in the late 1980's and heard this with bassy equipment. Mate... I haven't got a CLUE....a fucking CLUE...why the hell this one didn't hit No. 1. It's just beyond me!!! If I'm insane...shoot me!

  • This forgotten song has always been my favorite from Rattle and Hum. It's a great song to listen to while you're cruising down the freeway.

  • best album of U2!

    even better than "joshua tree"

  • GREAT

  • this is one of those songs that seem like daniel lanois probably did most of it.. kind of ambient and wanky and self consciously 'atmospheric'

  • truly haunting

  • Mississippi and the cotton wool heat. 66 a highway speaks.

  • So soothing...

  • IN THE HEEEEARTLAND! ( NICE! )

  • brividi

  • @wslydaniels

The stupidity of your response astounds me. It's very easy to be cynical about a persons polictical persuasions, but not so easy to have the moral courage to express your own beliefs let alone to back them up. And besides, what has his politics got to to with his lyrical ability. The two afformentioned songs are not political in the slightest, just brilliant examples of good lyric writing.

  • awesome guitar, awesome drum, awesome bass, and a awesome voice create's a fantastic song, like this one. the only one for me

  • probably in my top5 u2 tracks. scratch that. definitely.

  • Bono has to be one of the greatest lyricists ever. I mean he was what, twenty odd when he wrote this and it's not even regarded as one of U2's classics (heaven know's why cos it sublime) but even BB King on the Rattle and Hum film says he can't believe someone so young wrote lyrics like 'When love comes to town'. Why he's not held in the same esteem as Dylan or Cohen I'll never know.

  • @billbonesdeluxe

he's not held in the same esteem because he is a political fucking puppet!!! And who the fuck cares what BB king thinks about lyrics. The fucking guy couldnt even read or spell his own name.

  • @wslydaniels careful my friend ...youre ignorance not to mention your bad grammar is showing

  • @u2joshuadesireu

I thank you for the rebuke concerning the bad grammar. Perhaps in my moment of anger I thought it was more important to get an idea across. But please dont tell me that Im ignorant about about the situation. Just because I dont agree with you, and I expressed my point in an unsavory manner, does not deem it invalid or "ignorant". I am willing to bet you are an ardent Obama supporter.

  • Magnifica canzone.

  • See the sun rise over her skin Don't change it See the sun rise over her skin Dawn changes everything Everything And the delta sun Burns bright and violet Mississippi and the cotton wool heat ...... See the sun rise over her skin She feels like water in my hand Freeway like a river cuts through this land Into the side of love Like a burning spear And the poison rain Brings a flood of fear Through the ghost-ranch hills Death valley waters In the towers of steel Belief goes on and on
  • is this romantic or what bitches?
