hey for the first part are you alternate picking? I think it would make a good beginners practice for alternate picking, yet I wouldn't really know because I'm not an alternate picker myself.

@jmel93 Yes the 1st and 3rd note are alternate, there is also some hammer on's and pull off's in that first part. It would make good practice for alternate picking but this particular solo doesn't need it too much due to the hammer on's and pull off's.

richie plays on the cheap copies as well sometimes...when you're a pro you dont need a 3000$ guitar to sound good...and the sound depends 50% on the hardware behind too....so Richie could play on a low cost guitar better than you W2001 cheap Richie copy...the guy made the effort to work on the solo in the days following the coming out of the new version so don't say to him whats wrong it sounds alright now..

This is a good version of the solo but a little constructive criticism never hurt anyone mate. Don't bite the guy's head off for suggesting where to improve it.

Richie doesn't play cheap guitars either. It's well known that the LTD version of the SA2 is a budget version of Richie's actual ESP. Most of Richie's guitars are vintage instruments, some with pickups alone that cost 8 grand.

Back to the video though, it's a great attempt and some nice tone as well. ;-)

Richie doesn't play such a cheap guitar...his are the originals which play 10 times better than the cheap copies they put out.

Not a bad effort on this but the first run just doesn't sound right. Your timing is putting the lick out slightly and it doesn't flow as it should.

.the only problem was on the harmonic on his previous video...after that everything is a question of feeling and i guess youd have too play the whole track to feel in the mood for a faster solo...

the sambora strats are the same guitars richie used in 1995/6, but the difference is the equipment of richie, I got a backstage-pass in London 1995( first night), I asked the a man working on his sunburst strat whats the difference to any other guitar?he answered: it's nearly the same, it only got star-inlays, and the hardware is completely from schaller and the body is shaped above and below of the neck, the only thing that makes it more seriously are the tons of hardware we use every night...

My comment was aimed at another poster who mentioned the LTD being the guitar Richie plays on stage. It isn't, they're custom jobs.

That said, Richie's collection of Strats, as SamboStrat so kindly pointed out, is comprised almost entirely of vintage instruments.

His old signature models would certainly be a more customised (higher quality) spec than the retail version.

okay, there u r right , the LTD richie plays is completely different to the one which u can buy in stores, the only thing which is the same is the Sambora logo at the headstock.

and it's right , that richies own strats are customized by his own guitar-engineers, but the guitar richie got directly from fender and the ones had been sold are nearly the same
