this is pretty good. way better than Netrebko.

In the florid passage with high C before "Ah, giorni d'amaro pianto" it should be sung the text "si schiuda il ciel per me" - it is written in the original score. But here Angela sings just " aaah si" and Sutherland sings " si schiuda aaah per me". Mano sopranos simplify the text in the aria. Are those reductions acceptable or it's a fault of pronunciation?

Many singers change the text, even the music sometimes to fit their shortcomings

It doesn't mean it's acceptable, few singers really were 100% true to the music such as Callas.

i think if you have the notes, the tecnique and knowledge about the style you can sing anything you want, that'a why angela and anothers opera singer can sing songs out of their fachtes

I really thought that we had long since accepted, thanks to Callas, that Lucia (and other bel canto roles) are not the exclusive property of the canaries!! Well done Angela this performance really gets to the heart of the character and drama.

What is wrong with singing songs out of your fach if you know how to correctly sing.? Almost all opera singers sing repertoire out of their fach at one point or another.  I personally love her bel canto/coloratura performances over her Romantic rep.

@bigdigger87 Right. I'd like to know what singer who had a reasonable recording legacy never recorded an aria out of his/her usual fach. Some great recordings came from singers who'd never sing the roles in their entirety but could offer a lot singing one aria or one scene. After all, why would you sing in your albums exclusively the same arias you sing on stage? All singers take some risks, and often they excel. I like to hear unusual recordings, especially by great singers like Gheorghiu.

This album "Casta diva" is from the late 90's and in the 14, 15 years since then she hasn't tried to follow each step of Callas (or must I yet again remember that Violetta and other roles are not exclusive property of Callas?). Actually, Marguerite, Juliette, Adina, Adriana and other roles she's sung were never sung by Callas.
