Thanks for putting this up. Absolutely love the views that one can get of the Melbourne skyline, by driving this.

Just curious, is there a name for the structure to the left at 1:29? I'm assuming it's part of a support column, but it almost appears as if VicRoads put it up, just for looks!

Just a great freeway overall; very modern looking, despite being constructed over 4 decades ago. You must have a lot of fun driving this on a regular basis.

@FreewayBrent ,, Hi Brent - those structures are support columns - have been designed on an angle, I suppose to make them a feature .. the modern look is a more recent innovation. It took many years for the elevated sections to be built. Back in the 70's, 80's it was all pretty dreary. It is a great drive now though. :)

The road transportation system in Melbourne seems to be very well developed. When a freeway can reduce the number of required stops and greatly reduce travel time it can only be a good thing! Awesome time-lapse footage of the West Gate Freeway! Very enjoyable cruise Geoff.
