I think he kept looking for a solution he liked for a portable mic. He wore a hat with one for a while, then at some point made this copper helmet with holes that his dreadlocks went through (he shaved his head sometime after that!).
Very close to the end here. God, so many of the greats die off, but hopefully he got to see how loved he was by musicians and the people that knew of him before he passed. Rest in peace, we'll play a song for you tonight, Michael.
