  • what is the picture of on Scott's banjo?

  • Why aren't there more views for this song? This is definitely my favorite song by the Avett Brothers. I can't even find this song on Spotify.

  • What a great tune but the audience is a little too subdued for an Avett brothers performance, seemingly. The NPR Tiny Desk concert version is superb, a little more animated to boot.

  • In times like these I am so encouraged by talents like this! What a message! Down with corruption, greed, and materialistic human nature. We are all at fault and have to battle these forces, me especially! It's creative, genius, artistic expressions like these that reminds us all of whats important in life. Not the shiny materials but the spiritual, ageless relationships we are blessed to encounter in our shot lives. MAKE THEM COUNT! Thank God for real music:D

  • @mtealey34 amen brotha! (sista?)

  • lovelovelove(: great band out of North Carolina<3

  • hehe he said predick-table hehe

  • good job guys, greetings from Greece!

  • MOONSHINE!

  • saw these guys live in phx az Joe (the cello player) is absolutely my hero now

  • Scott looks like the song is singing him instead of the other way around

  • Mario Cantone on bass.

  • As a member of this audience, we were all told to remain seated and quiet, as it was being recorded, they did not want extra sounds picked up. I was in the row in front of the camera, with some of the biggest Avett fans around, and we were told if we stood up, we would block the view of the band for the recording. The show itself was recorded at 10am in the morning too. Believe me, it was very hard to sit still through it all, but we had to.

  • how beautiful is this my first born was not this special to me

  • I don't know if some of you realize that sometimes the crowd is supposed to be quiet for live recordings and what not?? Or to simply appreciate how B.A. they trully are. Thanks boys, pick on!

  • What is WITH those people??? We just say them in Reading on Wednesday & my legs ache from bouncing so much! Those people must be stuffed....or should be, 'cuz they're dead!

  • this song is so great :D

  • This song is soooo good! <3 TAB! And Scott chewing that gum is just badass. Like John Lennon :D

  • This song is soooo good! <3 TAB!

  • These guys are so amazing. Their music comes straight from the heart. True originals are hard to find these days.

  • This song needs to be on an album!!

  • @jefflanolin you should shut the hell up.

  • @curtisdope YOU should shut the hell up.

  • @jefflanolin no.

  • Seth kinda looks like Freddie Mercury here!! Especially with that moustache

  • not a fan of the new look seth...

  • @FUT55 He donated his hair to make wigs for kids with cancer,,the mans a damn saint :)

  • BLAKE! From northern New York! Who showed me this song, It's Sarah! I've been trying to find you! Thumbs up so he can see! :D

  • I don't think I could possibly sit that close to The Avett Brothers and not go absolutely bananas. Their music is just SO DAMN GOOD.

  • I love this song!! The NPR version is awesome, I can't get enough.

  • Aaaarrrrggggghhhhhh!!! Are FANTAAASTIIICC!!!

  • @LSUsuperBuick Just a D major my friend.

  • @libzen thanks bro.

  • @libzen the way Seth fingers his D is different than most people so it looked like a D7, but thanks bro!

  • Is the D in this song a D7 or just a D major? I CANNOT figure it out.

  • This and the NPR versions are so so so good! I can't stop listening to this song! And I love how the audience is so quiet Scott starts clapping for them lol.. sad.

  • If you havnt downloaded the concert from npr they do a great version of this song and prolly the best version of seth doing ballad of love and hate that i have heard

  • The guy on the cello isn't with the band he just jumped up on stage and started playing

  • @TheBreakneckspeed Um, Joe Kwon has been playing cello for the Avetts for many years now.

  • Perfect. Just perfect. If you think otherwise, just go away. There are plenty of us that love them just as they are. Beautiful.

  • when the hell are they gonna record this?

  • Chewing gum on stage is so damn cool! I love you Scott! :)

  • why does everyone have to be so negative?? there is nothing wrong with scott's banjo playing, their hair, or their pants!! so shut up and enjoy the music

    please and thank you

  • lip jacket.

  • Well they could at least nod their heads or smile or something.. Great performance though, including the banjo strumming because that's the way the song was written.

  • @darbina99 i'm pretty sure that he does?

  • @darbina99 He does know how actually. The song THEY WROTE doesnt require the type of banjo technique your so horny for. Get a grip, music is made with instruments used countless different ways. Don't be a sad blind pretentious fuck.

  • @humdinger77 I can strum a banjo. With no skills or training I can pick up a banjo and strum the damn thing and make up chords and play them. I cannot claw hammer, I cannot flail and I can't three finger pick the banjo. That shit is HARD and requires practice. I have never seen him do that. And it disappoints me a lot because I could have loved these people if he could PLAY THE BANJO ANYWAY. Their songs where he plays piano are good and their harmonies are great. But that banjo.... sad..

  • @darbina99 ... We're all real disappointed that your disappointed with Scotts banjo playing And also very impressed by your banjo lingo. Im just not sure exactly why you came back in here when your opinion was obviously expressed a month ago.

  • @darbina99 No one cares what you have to say. Just thought I'd let you know.

  • @darbina99 you should cry more about it.

  • I guess all the money in the world still can't buy or find the right size pants!

  • WOW, WOW , WOW,WOW!!!!!!

  • @MrOutlawCountry To be fair, the brothers aren't at their most enthusiastic state of performance either. And as much as you and I would wanna jump around while they played, it might be a tad out of place at this particular, rather intimate show.

  • moustache..

  • To be honest the crowd is quiet because its a radio recording. I bet they're going crazy inside

  • does anyone know where i can find a downloadable recording of this album?

  • Scott can sing and chew gum at the same time. So talented :)

  • this looks like a comedy skit...can't quit laughing looking at this crowd

  • I've tried the rest.....now I listen to the best!!

  • Jacob Edwards.....

  • @rockview1 So, does the kid have a name? Or should I just condescendingly refer to him as "the kid" if I reference him in conversation? :P

  • is scott chewing gum...?

  • who's that on the drums with them in this vid?

  • @libzen wondering myself. who the f***?

  • @libzen it's the kid who's on tour with them now..

  • soo good. for real.

  • just curious....was that crowd even awake?

  • This live version is fantastic!

  • thanks for posting these videos! by far my favorite band in the world!!!
