  • Did that first promo air immediately following the regularly scheduled Perfect Strangers primetime show?

  • @FutureNewsAnchor I believe it did, yes!

  • This was after ABC dumped game shows.

  • @FutureNewsAnchor Yep. Abc was hurting for things to air in the morning back then. the Home Show did successful for maybe 5 years(88-92) I believe. And at 11 on our local station(Iowa) we had 2 very all too brief game shows. We had Split Second(87-88) and I honestly couldn't tell you what the fuck that was about(I guess it was on too brief that I just don't recall) and then a game show called "High Rollers(88-89) a remake I believe with Wink Martindale which I actually liked.

  • @entertainme3000 Home lasted for six years on ABC (1988-1994.) Unfortunately, Perfect Strangers and Home had the unenviable task of competing against The Price Is Right on CBS.

  • @FutureNewsAnchor yeah I figured Home lasted well into my junior high years and that's right, they even expanded it to 90 mins at one point because one thing after had been pulled down after another in that time slot for all those years. And "Home" was actually pretty entertaining. I miss Hour Magazine too. and the good old days of GMA(you couldn't get me to sit through the "Today" show for 4 hours if my life depended on it)

  • @FutureNewsAnchor you're very correct news anchor, when TV's longest running classic game show "The Price Is Right" is your adversary, competition is so stiff, you ain't likely got a prayer. By the way like your name and you're very educated in TV schedules and info behind it. Does your name suggest what your studying or are you in the media(well I guess you couldn't tell me that) I just get my info from years of reading books, computer info and old TV guides right to what was on the 3 major nw

  • @FutureNewsAnchor Alas by late spring early summer '89, HR was cancelled(like you said game shows weren't cutting it on that station. CBS and NBC had ones that did good for quite awhile) and so there had to be something to fill the schedule at 11. Add to that ABC's Ryan's Hope was also wiped off the abc format in early '89(we did not get this show and the new half hour soap "Loving") only the 3 hour long ones that are still(unfortunately) still on today.

  • they dont do this anymore!
