On contour means perfectly level. A swale follows around the ridges and into the valleys as if it were a line on a contour/elevation map. It is definitely difficult to understand until you see one in action. These systems are truly amazing and necessary for quick and permanent repair of our landscapes into productive food systems.

great information .. everybody should see this video... especially w/ water, that seems be coming more scarce. Most of the world may be blue...but we depend on a green earth for survival. Obviously. The greener the better!
