  • crazy fuckin good. great drummer

  • i wish reinert played on all the death albums, he is by far the best drummer chuck ever had !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1 person is really not aware of the drum work done there.

  • how you get it ? fabulous drummmer !

  • A portrait from those legendary times... Together witch Chuck and the others... At least they're alive today... wished Chuck were, too... Rock In Peace bro...

  • the begining fill is in the dark -_-

I WANTED TO SEE THE AWESOMENESS THAT IS THE KILLER FILL THAT STARTS THIS SONG

  • christy is a great drummer, but this is the greatness that is without a doubt reinert...

  • I doubt if this is Sean Reinert....Its Richard Christy...!!!!

    Wat say guys???

  • @devilstrings Richard Christy was basically bald, even when he had his ponytail braid thing. And Chuck's voice wasnt as coarse when Richard was in the band.

  • @devilstrings

    Do your homework.

  • @devilstrings NO, This is Reinert.Christy played on the last Death-record. Reinert played the drums on Human, where this number is from.Christy did NOT play in Death at the time of this song,Christy helped Chuck on the last album, which came out to earn some money to surgery of his tumor. And for the dedicated Death-fans! Cause he had more or less stopped Death & started Control Denied. R.I.P Chuck..

  • this guy and mikkey dee are my favorite drummers ever

  • Yeah, ya think!?

  • Every drummer that was with Death was amazing. Just look at Sean and Gene!

  • @SlayEmAll1986 except for bill andrews and chris feifert

  • As with any Instrument finesse and stamina supercede power and this man has loads of both.

  • great footage

  • blast from the past!!! check him out on our 2 aghora cds!! thanks, alan

  • Thanks for posting this. I what think Sean and Paul offered at this time also pushed Chuck to come out with something more technical and unique each album that separated Death from the rest of extreme music as time went on for them.

Sean was one of the best- awesome tour this was, that snare became a prototype for my sound some years ago when I played... gotta love those piccolo free floaters- they rock

  • monitors id guess dude hahaha

  • how he can know what part of the song its goin on he is a monster whit a sence of time perfect

  • for those comparing ans saying wich one is better (hoglan / reinert ) i must say that I disagree, they're both great and extremelly technical, but in VERY different stiles... I think both fixes perfect in the other bands that they've been through... anyway, death always had the best drummers, kudos for Christy too!!!

  • I think that Death always had the BEST rhythm section in metal EVER!!! \m/ R.I.P. Chuck

  • a truly collectionable video!!!! THANXXXXXX MANNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This stuff is gold

Thank you so much for uploading this

  • his braid is so sick!

  • he makes it looks so easy

  • actually it is so easy.... if you're equal skilled o this motherfucker HAHAHAHAAAA

  • well... Reiner is a great drummer and i respect him. however I think Mr Hogland´s technique its supreme.

  • They are both awesome drummers but yes Gene Hoglan is a supreme.

  • Yes, very good video, is a reliquia

  • King of Jazz? Are you kidding ? He's a good metal drummer but his jazz is no where near as good as some of the greats Lol

  • why do those toms sound all electric at 2:28

  • He has electrics too...?

  • yup just figured it out. it's awesome

  • they're at his far left

  • fucking awesome-check out my band Deny-death tribute from new zealand

  • Reinert is the king of jazz. The king of metal is GENE HOGLAN:

  • king reinert!

  • I am not quite sure why you are busy attacking posters here who are simply trying to discuss the video.

  • As for me being busy attacking people, you're doing the same to me aren't you? At first I was simply correcting a false statement. I didn't expect it to turn into this.

  • GREAT DRUMMER

  • Sean Reinert is one of my all time favorites. Try checking out some Bobby Jarzombek from Spastic Ink.

  • O_O impressive

  • this recording has higher quality than live in la death and raw hahaha

  • look at his right hand!

    WOW

  • Fucking hell, I envy that right hand. Saw him with Cynic last week and I had pretty much the same thought as you.

  • Best metal drummer of all time.

But he's too good for metal.

  • How could you say too good for metal?

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever!!!

That's like saying Jim carry is too good for comedy...

  • Too good for metal?? Fuck you Metals probably the hardest genre of music to play on the drums!

  • The jazz-based drummers are the ones that are best in metal, when the dude said he's too good for metal he was wrong, he's too good for shitty all-blasting-no-talent-just-speed type of metal. Not to mention fucking deathcore "BREE BREE" 10 bpm breakdown crap...

  • eurologic. Sean started playing piano when he was 7, and drums when he was 10. Van Halen/Rush/Iron Maiden/Led Zeppelin were his influences, and what he learnt on. Not jazz. He was never "schooled in jazz"

  • First you say he was "schooled in jazz" now you say he just has "influences" Schooled in, and influenced by, are totally different. You were wrong my friend, not me.

  • Yes, I mentioned influences. But YOU said he was "schooled in Jazz", which he is not. Now you change your story to he only has influences in jazz.

  • I've been over it. I just don't like it when people make a comment, and they don't know what they are talking about.

  • Hah he went to a performing arts high school where he learned a great deal of jazz. Just read the current MD. haha.

  • It was New World School of the Arts. And I never said he didn't learn ANY Jazz. I said he was not SCHOOLED in Jazz, as eurologic thought. Musical theory goes much deeper than just Jazz. Jazz is not the pinnacle of all music as some people tend to think.

  • Ok that's fair enough. Although I would argued that he was schooled- to a limited extent- in jazz when he attended that school.

Try not putting words into people's mouths, I have never said anything of the kind. I enjoy listening to jazz but I listen to many other genres equally.

  • I wasn't putting words into your mouth, as the last part of my comment was not directed at you. It was directed at the guys on the previous page of comments. I never said YOU think Jazz is the pinnacle of music. Just read their comments. "The jazz-based drummers are the ones that are best in metal" Thats bullshit. I have nothing against jazz, but patience, practice, and experience make a good drummer, not just learning Jazz

  • There is some truth to that statement though. Playing jazz requires a more subtle technique in your hands, mostly because of all the ghost notes and fast ride action. Learning to play like that can greatly enhance your playing in other styles as well. Same thing for latin & funk.

Learning to play grooves typical for other styles of music than the one you're mainly pursuing opens a lot of doors. Fresh ideas.

  • fuck its cool riffing tho huh?!

  • fuck? amazing death footage?! thanx for sharing.

  • ide let him touch me

  • Remember, Sean Reinert was only 20 years young when this was filmed, 19 when Human was recorded.

  • joey jordison can kiss my ass!

  • Beast Sean!!!

  • Reinert owns.

  • On your knees and fucking HAIL Sean Reinert!

  • Oh my god, this is just.. rare... and amazing. Unthinkable that we would ever get a vid of something like this, I'm just so happy.

  • Holy hell! This video makes you realise just how much of the details of his drumming were lost due to the crappy snare sound on the Human album... Nice upload!

  • REINERT=WINNER

  • I think he plays even better here than on Human

  • Anyone any idea on what he might have asingned on the electronic pads, on his left side?

Sound somewhat like single-head toms / roto-toms to me... can't really tell.

  • I'm pretty sure those were old Simmons drums.

  • boovidge, thank you for this upload.

    Sean Reinert is FUCKING INHUMAN!!!

  • God on drums!

  • that is fuckin SICK!

  • Favorite song on album.

  • That's FUCKING AWESOME!

  • go on! EVERYONE WHO DOUBTS CAN FUCK OFF!

  • that looks like richard christy from The Sound Of Perseverance

    album

  • No he's reinert 101% sure about that.

  • GRACIAS!!! exelentes videos

  • Def props for finding/posting this. One of my fav Death songs

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS :)))))))

  • sean... reinventing the drum metal style...

    el mejor....

  • jaw dropping performance

  • Гений,блин!!!!!

  • What else can one say? My favorite death metal drummer. And the scary part? His work with Gordian Knot is EVEN BETTER! I suppose one can say that both the death metal/jazz drumming of Human is different to the full on jazz fusion of Gordian Knot. But for pure genius, one only needs to listen to the seamless brilliance of the first few minutes of Code/AntiCode from Gordian Knot. Just beautiful drumwork.

For my money, there is no one as multi-faceted in the drumming department than Reinert.

  • sean is fucking sik ,

  • monster-drummer

  • killer team death at it s best!

i cant get enough from this rockin stuff.

big thanx to sean paul steve and the late great.

  • dream-team lineup!

  • Sean is just god...

  • Killer clip. Sean is scary good, and endlessly tasteful.

  • Comment removed

  • Sean Reinert is the ignored God of Drums. There is no other like him.

  • My favorite drummer!!! I play guitar but my dream is to play drum!!! Sean is the best

  • ride plus hit hat at the same time!!!

  • Uff! Innovation...creation!!

  • Top class song, top class drumming, top class song, RIP 13.12.2001. Thanks for this post, "we all can live a little more" with Chuck through youtube, I would say...

  • sounds like he has a single tom with a trigger?

  • I don't know that he's underrated. Just not well known.

  • Those triplets on the ride are the SHIT!!

  • Sean Reinert and Martin Lopez are the best jazz influenced death metal drummers but sadly they are underrated

  • death metal GOD, right there.

  • Creativity at its best!

  • Worlds most underrated drummer right there.

  • masterful...

  • Where in the world did you get this "Reinert Cam" footage?

  • musical, flawless, epic, perfectly executed with feel. This guy's double handed ride cymbal work alone is just brilliant. One of the FEW tasteful death metal drummers that is NOT afraid to NOT blast.

  • And incorporate swung rhythms and electronic drums too. Reinert is a god!

  • Thanks Boovidge! can you upload all the concert in a torrent or a rapidshared archive?? man is almost imposible to find something like this, pleaseeeeeeee!!!! Thanks again.

  • Sean is the perfect mix between metal and jazz drumming, triplets in the ride!! who drummer do that in metal! he is a master. do you have another one??????!!

  • i try to! but yea sean is way to good on drums

  • check my profile for the other one i uploaded. I've got the whole gig so i might upload one more in the future.

  • the other guy that does that in metal is... Gene Hoglan.haha.also check out Paul Bostaph's Twisted Into Form while he was playing in Forbidden...

this footage is ridiculous,I mean really,if I was a drummer I would quit after watching this...and this was 1991 or maybe 1992,when everyone thought Igor Cavalera or Lars Ulrich are drumgods.this guy blew them away...

  • im not that fan of metal

    but hes realy amazing

  • this is too sick

  • o shit! thi is fuckin awesome and RARE! thanx for that! Reinert Cam from CYNIC would be precious! :D

    cheers from Poland! :D
