Carter's the best fly-half I've seen. Wilkinson, however, was a complete player, not just a boot. Part of the problem for him is injury, the other part is England's style of play. If Wilkinson did the same things as Carter behind that pack, he would've been taking the wrong option. It's very hard to say who's better. Carter suits NZ more, and Wilkinson suits England. Not Carter's fault the kiwis are WC chokers.

@cammatt97 wilkinson plays a very conservative style of game. its always been England's style of game. always keeping it tight in the forwards, no variations in their attacking style...Carter plays a very expansive style of rugby, which he atternates his attacking options with passing, kicking and running. another thing to add, wilkinson is small, if he bulked earlier in his career, maybe he would get less injuries.
