  • I went to a Rememberance Service in St Paul's Cathedral a few years ago and this was played on the organs as the old soldiers made their way into the Cathedral, carrying their Colours and wearing their medals with such pride and their expressions of sorrow and remembrance for their fallen comrades and I can never hear this without a tear coming to my eye for all the pain, suffering and sorrow in the world.

  • I hope you remember me. Oflate i am listneing to two other gians in adagio family. 1. Samuel Barber's Adagio for strings and 2. Henryk Gorecki symphony 3. I am not sure whether symphony 3 of Gorecki fills up Adagio category. But they are great too, as much as albinoni's Adagio in g minor.

  • Lovely.

I was practicing this one evening at church and my bf kept saying it was too slow, and I got upset, and he stormed out! They were having a vestry meeting and one of the members asked, "what's going on?' and another friend replied, "he and his boyfriend had a fight!"--lol--

  • Glad that you enjoy this - and also play it - not too fast, not too slow. ;o)

  • Oh my God! It's amazing! I can play the piano but pipe organ is really impressive! The sound is also thw appropriate! In few words, a very nice performance! Congratulations!!

  • Thank you very much.

  • I LOOOOOOOOVE pipe organ pieces in minor keys like Toccata & Fugue.

  • I love music pieces written in minor keys too- not only organ works, but also vocal or instrumental works( for example,3rd movement- duet for soprano and bass from Cantata 137 " Lobe den Herren"(BWV137).

  • Thanks for encouraging reply. I keep viewing your youtube uploads, if any other. I prefer classical.

  • Dear Joenwayne,

I am not christian. But Organ is amazing. I heard organ for first time openly though it is used as sound track in movies.. Adagio G Minor is great and divine. Know that this is from a novice, only hears a good music without musical background.

  • Good music may be appreciated by everyone, regardless of their religious faith.

Thank you for viewing and your comments.

  • how agonizing. its beautiful.

  • Questo pezzo è agghiacciante... un capolavoro eseguito in maniera sublime, complimenti davvero!

  • Ringraziarla per osservare ed i suoi commenti!

  • A beuatiful performance of a beautiful piece of music - one of the most haunting ever. I don't know if you had this in your score, but the cadenza half way through is amazing - I always include it when I play this peice (although I take my recital from the organ + violin copy). I also play the supplementary melody on the swell, rather than the great. But a great performance nonetheless.

  • the song of God !!!!!!!!!!

  • Sì, la canzone di Dio!

  • the song of God !!!!!!!!!!

  • Esta melodia es realmente sublime!!!

This melody is realy beautifull. For me is a wonderful love´s song that a music for the sadness. Nevertheless many people relates the "Adagio" with memories... or death...

    Realy is a God´s song.

    From Venezuela. A Adagio´s lover

  • Wonderful!

  • I'm a catholic, and I often play/see pipe organs, but this organ is amazing!

By the way, if anyone wants to play this one, you can easly find the notes for it on eMule :D

  • Thanks for viewing and thanks for your comments.

Except for the Cantilevered Great II, almost everything you hear is the original 1918 Steere. Upper right, "About This Video" click on "more" and the specification is posted.

  • Thanks! I love that tune. Tell me a little about the organ.

  • Above right, "About This Video" click "more" and I have the organ specification posted.

    Thanks for viewing.

  • You know, for a relatively simple piece on the organ, it's surprisingly awkward to play.

That church sound rather dry. Not much reverb?

  • While we don't have 9 seconds of reverberation like Saint John the Divine in NYC, our room is very resonant. If the camcorder were out in the Nave then one would hear more of the resonance - but here it is is up in the Sanctuary very close to the organ console.

  • Having got a simple sheet music of this, I *tried* and agree that it's hard to play ALL 3 lines with 2 hands only. It really needs a min. 2 octave pedalboard and some practice using it. Then it's simple... one RH melody, one LH slow theme-setter (if a separate manual and registration - the better), pedal bass in simple octave jumps (G-g-G, F-f-F)...

Having not too much piano training, also I find hard to 'superpose' in real time the flats on E's and B's in the 'key signature'... any hints ?

  • OMG! This music is just awesome!

  • I certainly agree that the Albinoni "Adagio" is awesome music. Thanks for viewing.
