@roy1tello these engines are at some point powered by an external heat source and steam engines are external combustion which is less efficient than an internal combustion engine engine and therfore more harmful for the environment. because with steam engines it takes "more to get less" if you know what i mean
Dave, if you were to narrow that mustachio a bit, I think you'd look pretty much like Alois Hitler's boy! Then watch the hits on your videos climb LOL (Aryan skinhead R/C enthusiasts, must be thousands of 'em)
Just want to say I enjoy your vids. Brings back the memories of rubbing belt dressing on Mantis belts to try and keep them from slipping.
Hi, that is a grea engine. HOWEVER.. someone in the past has dissassembled the engine, then put it pack together wrong. the cylinder and flywheel should be on the other side of the boiler. The should not be dripping water and oil onto the plug. I have one of these engines, see the video of it on my channel. the cylinder and frame assembly needs to be taken off, flipped around, then put back together
I dont want you to get electricuted from the water dripping on that electrical connection
It looks scarier than it is because It doesn't matter much as electricity always takes the path of least resistance and that is the prongs, not the water. Just like the fact that Christmas lights in the rain, wont short out either.
I am retired, and dont spend money foolishly, having almost died 3 years ago. It takes me 6 hours a day average answering email messages like this, so believe me, I dont have much time on my hands as you think. I also run a computer repair business and make professional movies for businesses. Hey...it's okay Obama is going to make everybody rich, right.
The only one I've ever seen close up is the train at Dollywood. I'm only 25, but sometimes I wish belonged to a different generation. Technology is the greatest it's ever been, but people don't appreciate anything anymore, ya know? These kids think all this technology has been around forever, and don't appreciate their history. I could rant on and on but I'll spare you :-)
well i do agree with you but disagree with you here "These kids think all this technology has been around forever, and don't appreciate their history." because i love history and often wish i was in a different generation when cars where load and we fixed things are selves and im only 14
That's just great,,a mains plug going into a thing dripping water all over the place,so scalded and electrocuted too,,what a great toy to use,,get one for the kids ehh,?
Lucky that water takes the path of least resistance and why you cant get shocked, like Christmas lights outside in rain. The plugs are least resistant compaerd to the body. LOL
Hi, Love your videos good for young and old. However, can i make a suggestion? As a video editor I seldom use background music with vocals when there is informative VO There are excellent rights free CD's available that are music only and i think it would improve your works to uses them. Cheers
Interesting theory. Sounds like it could work, but if it did, we may have seen steam locomotives or Stanley Steamer guys that already tried to figure that out and using them. I don't know of any. That would work great in space, though... eh?
I have model memory in some transmitters, and the others, I put a drop of white out on the side and write with a felt tip pen which machine it goes to.
Yep.....steam! It cant short out with the water on the plug, as electricity takes the path of least resistance and the contacts are least resistant. That is why you can put Christmas lights out in the rain and snow.
Dave, you are just crazy with all of your models. You have gotten just about every cool and popular rc thing out there. Glad for you. Have fun when you can. 5/5. And love your Engine.
well this is pretty kool... it kinda helps me understand teh science project i'm trying to do, on HHO powered motors, so if any one knows a good site or video or something then please let me know =3
Actually it wont, as electricity takes the path of least resistance. So since the plug is connected to the terminals, is less than the water. That is why outdoor lights in rain and snow do not short out either, like Christmas lights, etc. But dropping the hole thing in a pail of water, then sticking my arm in there, would be especially toasty! LOL.
problem is I do not have a camera for my account. I wish I could make interesting videos like you other people out there and I have a lot of things to show, but I do not have much experience.
oh, and I have a model semi electric engine that is powered by a very powerful motor. Since it is connected to a crankshaft, it is a lot stronger. I will probably put it in a go-kart some day.
my dad had something very similar to that model except you actually made a fire in it instead of plugging it in. i think my brother broke it. i wish i had it now.
Yea in the old days they weren't so safe looking. Lucky that electricity alwasys takes the path of least resistance, so it cannot short out when plugged in making contact...like outdoor Christmas lights etc that don't short out in rain or snow.
I love Steam engine, actually I've looking for one, my Friend has a Saito Steam Boat and he would not sell it to me...lool like we have the same interest.
Good video Dave. You always keep me entertained with your gadgets. I see your really getting into the video editing now. Keep up the good work. 5 stars.

Dave, we get nervous when water is dripping near electric wires. Especially old one's that spark like that! We don't want to lose our teacher/friend. ;-) Seriously, thanks 4 the vid.
Thanks. I appreciate your concern. Electricity always takes the path of least resistance, so the water won't hurt it... like outdoor Christmas lights. Again, thank you.
WOOOoooWOOOOT! ALL ABOARD! Pretty cool Dave. Couple of questions...How long does it take for the electricity to heat up the boiler to make that little engine run? And, can you make it fly???
I wish I had the one that my dad gave me when I was a Kid. It was fired by lettle pellets that you lit and heated the water. Who knows what happened to it ...That was great..

just go to LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM and download the blueprints ,it's probably the ONLY working magnet

Oh, an electric toy that plugs into the wall that leaks water.
Guess the consumer products safety commission didnt exist back then.
The red paint is probably lead based too.

Could you reclaim the exhaust (steam) by running it through a condenser and returning condensed water to the boiler?

You would need a low speed high force pump to force water back into the boiler. You could run it off the engine.
