  • i loved the elvira poster lmao

  • Described it perfectly! And where did you find the blue screen that showed like the hot steam and the cold steam???

  • very interesting

  • Annoying noise in the back ground spoils it...

  • Batman? nope!

  • aww you didnt blow the whistle through the whole video...

  • why we don´t use this again is better for the earth!!!!

  • @roy1tello these engines are at some point powered by an external heat source and steam engines are external combustion which is less efficient than an internal combustion engine engine and therfore more harmful for the environment. because with steam engines it takes "more to get less" if you know what i mean

  • why we don´t used this again i think is better for the earth!!!!

  • ahaha q tal fazer um ferrorama usando locomotiva a vapor mesmo?? ahahaha ia ficar massa!

  • wow. I always watch your RC videos, there awesome. and then I go and look up steam engines and you show up too! its a small world after all.........

  • bad english ya nerd

  • Does the whistle work?

  • could you make a steam powered rc place?

  • @fairyheli2 *plane

  • thanks for share

  • u should mount that on a bicycle

  • a real one would heat up from coal from a furnace under the boiler wouldnt it ?

  • what do you mean by real one?thing is a real one, a larger engine yes your right then

  • It might be safer to convert this to alcohol or fuel pellets so you do have the electrocution hazard.

  • dont wast people's time man

  • does anyone know how i could make one of these somewhat easily or get plans to make a homemade one?

  • super vid. where did you get the nifty steam engine animation?

  • i want one

     can i have one

  • dork

  • red suzuki gt750 poster?

  • All these engines have the big wheel on them. What's the theory behind this?

  • It's a flywheel so the piston doesn't get stuck at one end

  • Oh, an electric toy that plugs into the wall that leaks water.

Guess the consumer products safety commission didnt exist back then.

The red paint is probably lead based too.

I miss the good old days when dangerous toys were allowed.

Have you seen a modern chemistry set? It totally sucks ass!

  • @ccronn - probably one of the best comments I've seen in a while...A++ lol

  • Thanks, lol.

I totally missed commenting on the "safety valve", I mean really with all things that toy has going for it why ruin it with a safety valve??

  • Dave, if you were to narrow that mustachio a bit, I think you'd look pretty much like Alois Hitler's boy! Then watch the hits on your videos climb LOL (Aryan skinhead R/C enthusiasts, must be thousands of 'em)

Just want to say I enjoy your vids. Brings back the memories of rubbing belt dressing on Mantis belts to try and keep them from slipping.

  • Hi, that is a grea engine. HOWEVER.. someone in the past has dissassembled the engine, then put it pack together wrong. the cylinder and flywheel should be on the other side of the boiler. The should not be dripping water and oil onto the plug. I have one of these engines, see the video of it on my channel. the cylinder and frame assembly needs to be taken off, flipped around, then put back together

I dont want you to get electricuted from the water dripping on that electrical connection

  • Cher?

    Nope!

  • i wonder if we will go back to this method soon, good video!

  • It realy sped up at 6:15

  • Poor Thomas never gets credit in text books lolz they always say James watt made them (2:02)

  • thats a perfect video

    perfect job !

  • Thank you very much.

  • Now to build a model train around the model engine.

  • Haha. Then the tracks too. LOL.

  • Sweet engines! Thanks

  • Thank you.

  • wow you have lot of stuff, i almost died 5 yrs ago, not fun i know it...

  • Thanks.;

  • water from the engine gets on the plug... good old safe electronics

  • It looks scarier than it is because It doesn't matter much as electricity always takes the path of least resistance and that is the prongs, not the water. Just like the fact that Christmas lights in the rain, wont short out either.

  • seems like you have to much time and money on your hands, money will be worthless soon :)

  • I am retired, and dont spend money foolishly, having almost died 3 years ago. It takes me 6 hours a day average answering email messages like this, so believe me, I dont have much time on my hands as you think. I also run a computer repair business and make professional movies for businesses. Hey...it's okay Obama is going to make everybody rich, right.

  • haha yeah

  • put that on an rc plane

  • Haha. Yeah, that would work. I'd just need a long extention cord, eh? LOL

  • Dave your the RC god

  • LOL. Thanks.

  • Are steam engines used today any at all?

  • I saw some in Korea, but they are rapidy being Phased out.

  • The only one I've ever seen close up is the train at Dollywood. I'm only 25, but sometimes I wish belonged to a different generation. Technology is the greatest it's ever been, but people don't appreciate anything anymore, ya know? These kids think all this technology has been around forever, and don't appreciate their history. I could rant on and on but I'll spare you :-)

  • well i do agree with you but disagree with you here "These kids think all this technology has been around forever, and don't appreciate their history." because i love history and often wish i was in a different generation when cars where load and we fixed things are selves and im only 14

  • That's just great,,a mains plug going into a thing dripping water all over the place,so scalded and electrocuted too,,what a great toy to use,,get one for the kids ehh,?

  • Lucky that water takes the path of least resistance and why you cant get shocked, like Christmas lights outside in rain. The plugs are least resistant compaerd to the body. LOL

  • Hi, Love your videos good for young and old. However, can i make a suggestion? As a video editor I seldom use background music with vocals when there is informative VO There are excellent rights free CD's available that are music only and i think it would improve your works to uses them. Cheers

    dave

  • Thanks. I'm just learning. Hope my latest videos have gained your approval.

  • Could you reclaim the exhaust (steam) by running it through a condenser and returning condensed water to the boiler?

  • Interesting theory. Sounds like it could work, but if it did, we may have seen steam locomotives or Stanley Steamer guys that already tried to figure that out and using them. I don't know of any. That would work great in space, though... eh?

  • You would need a low speed high force pump to force water back into the boiler. You could run it off the engine.

  • HOLY how do u remember which radio is for which aircraft?

  • I have model memory in some transmitters, and the others, I put a drop of white out on the side and write with a felt tip pen which machine it goes to.

  • Hi NF what do you think about this transmissions? watch?v=MhFK5gfAGpM&feature=related

Can it implemented en an electric hely or plane?, your apinions have much vallue before I try to do some with this...tkx

  • Sorry, I could not get the link to work????

  • uh oh, it leaks...and we all know what H20 + electric current equals :P

  • Yep.....steam! It cant short out with the water on the plug, as electricity takes the path of least resistance and the contacts are least resistant. That is why you can put Christmas lights out in the rain and snow.

  • That's a very impressive collection of RC toys!

  • Thanks. Please subscribe, as more are coming soon.

  • Dave, you are just crazy with all of your models. You have gotten just about every cool and popular rc thing out there. Glad for you. Have fun when you can. 5/5. And love your Engine.

  • Haha. Thanks very much for your comments. I appreciate that.

  • hey i remember the "junkyard dog" i saw it hanging up.

  • well this is pretty kool... it kinda helps me understand teh science project i'm trying to do, on HHO powered motors, so if any one knows a good site or video or something then please let me know =3

  • Thanks. GOOD luck with your project.

  • What does "teh" mean ?

  • the

  • ay, make sure that water doesnt drip onto the mains line!

    it could kill you.

  • Actually it wont, as electricity takes the path of least resistance. So since the plug is connected to the terminals, is less than the water. That is why outdoor lights in rain and snow do not short out either, like Christmas lights, etc. But dropping the hole thing in a pail of water, then sticking my arm in there, would be especially toasty! LOL.

  • lol. ok

  • Lol who would have known that you wathced thing similar to me? :P Tesla coils and engine stuff :)

  • lol yea.

  • I'll see what I can do.

  • problem is I do not have a camera for my account. I wish I could make interesting videos like you other people out there and I have a lot of things to show, but I do not have much experience.

  • oh, and I have a model semi electric engine that is powered by a very powerful motor. Since it is connected to a crankshaft, it is a lot stronger. I will probably put it in a go-kart some day.

  • Great. Make sure to make a video.

  • my dad had something very similar to that model except you actually made a fire in it instead of plugging it in. i think my brother broke it. i wish i had it now.

  • Yes, some of the newer ones have heat pellets to burn under the boiler.

  • what about a steam powered go-kart? Wouldn't that work?

  • Sure. That would be cool.

  • Thanks kindly.

  • technically a steam helecopter could work if the boiler was efficient enough and light enough, but tht aint going to happen....soon. nice vid tho.

  • Ha ha. Talk about "heavy lift" helicopters! Thanks for your comments.

  • has you ever been electricuted? looks good but very dangerous with them drips next to the socket.

  • Yea in the old days they weren't so safe looking. Lucky that electricity alwasys takes the path of least resistance, so it cannot short out when plugged in making contact...like outdoor Christmas lights etc that don't short out in rain or snow.

  • Can you please make a steam engined helicopter, then we dont have to think about dangerous li-po's and expensive fuel;)

I wish i had as much stuff as you have:)

    Nice vid,really liked it:)

  • Ha ha. I would, but it would be so heavy, it would not ever get off the ground. HA HA.

    Thanks for the kind comments.

  • I love Steam engine, actually I've looking for one, my Friend has a Saito Steam Boat and he would not sell it to me...lool like we have the same interest.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Merry Christmas.

  • Thank you kindly. Merry Christmas too you also.

  • My Wife Would kill me If I had that much stuff

  • hey thanks Dave. Thats a very nice I actually never knew how a steam engine worked!

But still, thanks for all the brilliant info.!

  • Good video Dave. You always keep me entertained with your gadgets. I see your really getting into the video editing now. Keep up the good work. 5 stars.

  • Thank you very much, Eric. Wait til you see what is next!

  • Great stuff as always "Mr Herbert" What da heck could be next? Crystal radios, z gauge trains, kaleidoscopes, gyroscopes maybe 1/4 scale rc... Always a surprise....... :-)

  • Thank you sir,

    The surprises are still coming!

  • show us the whistle next time

  • The whistle doesn't work, so that is why I didn't. It just spits water and steam, but no toot.

  • Dave, we get nervous when water is dripping near electric wires. Especially old one's that spark like that! We don't want to lose our teacher/friend. ;-) Seriously, thanks 4 the vid.

  • Thanks. I appreciate your concern. Electricity always takes the path of least resistance, so the water won't hurt it... like outdoor Christmas lights. Again, thank you.

  • great video.. i've never understood how the steam engine works before...

    thanx mate :)

  • Thank you too.

  • WOOOoooWOOOOT! ALL ABOARD! Pretty cool Dave. Couple of questions...How long does it take for the electricity to heat up the boiler to make that little engine run? And, can you make it fly???

  • Thanks. It takes about 15 minutes to heat.

  • Gosh, you sure explained that well. That is really an old engine and a great video. 5 Stars.

  • whats the lever for?

  • That lever is for the Whistle, but it spits more water than sound.

  • I wish I had the one that my dad gave me when I was a Kid. It was fired by lettle pellets that you lit and heated the water. Who knows what happened to it ...That was great..

  • Thanks kindly.

  • thats amazing,im glad i subscribed!!!

  • Thank you.

  • great video

  • Thank you kindly.
