Hey ive been trying to make some vids with blender. I wanted to know how you can create some charcters (like the ant) and give the video a backround. Do you know how to do this?
Oh, and one more thing. On the area light, turn on "Ray Shadow" and set samples to 12-16. Turn on umbra and dither, too, but not noise. This will take a buttload of time to render, but it's worth it ;)
Thanks for the info zeke, I'll play with that on a future version of it. Everything was actually rendered as default, as far as materials, shadows and settings. Mainly was just quick test of the bones for the character. Project completely changed, so it ended up being abandoned, but may be used/updated in future. I completely agree on the frontal shape, I plan on reshaping that, plus I have a test for facial expression movement.
Alright! You're a good man. I suggest (if you HAVE the time and patience) that you use bones for the face instead of shape keys, that way you don't have to program 7 milliondy keys into it. Oh, and I was wrong about the area light. Turn the energy to .02, not .2. Also, for extra lighting, add in a Hemi and play the the energy settings. Also, check out my animations, too. I'll get more on here soon. Happy Blending!
You are a pretty good animator and all, but here's a little word of advice. The shadows were too dark, and there was no frontal shape to the ant. I suggest that you turn on Amibient Occlusion (in the "World" material settings) and set the sameples to 16, and use an area light with the energy value at about .1-.4. Other than that, the whole scene was pretty good! Nice job.
