Wonderful job...my niece started asking questions about God and Jesus, writing to my son (who loves the Lord and is her cousin) when she was 13. Her mother put a stop to it. She did not want her to hear about Jesus. Three years later she tried to take her life. The reason she told us? "I wanted to see God."
@kcainsmith2 Thank you :) Wow... that's really sad. :/
Was her mom a hard-nosed atheist, or something like that? :/
I confess there have been times I've wanted to die so I could meet God and be sure of His existence and His love, but then I believe that God wants us to live out our lives here, to keep going and not give up. If we do give up like that, I believe that God is gracious and merciful and will forgive us, but I believe it would be a mistake to do so nevertheless...
@edwardtulane82 Her mom is a Reformed Jew. I understand her concerns from her point of view. But there is a God-shaped hole in our hearts and we don't find rest until we meet the One who created the world and sent His son to give us that incredible free gift of eternal life. He is THE way, the truth and the life. We show that to others by loving them. I believe "the hound of heaven" is definitely not finished with my niece...
@kcainsmith2 That's understandable... but I believe that one day the Jewish people as a whole will have their eyes opened (as some are already have their eyes opened), and they will know their Messiah, and can say 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' :)
And I agree...
And yes, the Hound of Heaven will never give up. :)
@kcainsmith2 yeah, i hear that. it's easier to look for an escape from reality then to face our questions and fears head on... but I believe that God can give each of us the grace to do that when the time is right... :)
I adore this song. I have been a Sara fan for 5 years and this is my very favorite song by her. I relate so much; having not grown up in church and didn't start believing in God until I was 17.

@FredrickVonShwinkel I can relate :) I didn't grow up in the church either, and didn't start believing in God until about the same age you did... and then I walked away from God at 19, and He pulled me back about 4 years later... and now things are changing, and I'm finding out that He is a lot more loving and a lot more powerful than I originally thought, and that He won't stop until everyone, and I mean everyone, is drawn back to Him. :)
There is a loving God, and I'm so thankful that He's watching over my family, and my friends and I each and everyday. I know that even when my best friend is hurting, or broken, or questioning his faith, God is there and watching over him, reaching out and ready to take his hand and help him back on his feet; that's something for which I could never begin to thank God enough for.....He knows my best friend's hurts and how to fix them when no one else does.
@myGodiseverything thank you for your comment. :) i can relate to your friend. i often feel hurt and broken myself, and question my faith a lot... but maybe what you said is true for me, and anyone who keeps looking for God even in the dark, even their own dark, just as it's true for your friend. thank you for your encouragement and for sharing your heart. please pray for me, and i'll pray for you and your friend. :)
I want to thank you for this well done, and thoughtful film. I was starting to create a film using this song by Sara, to share with our son who is on his way to the university. My husband mentioned your vide posted on you tube. It's lovely and we will share at a party we are hosting.
@MsKal50 You're welcome :) I'm encouraged to know that these simple videos I've made are making some kind of difference. :) If you're interested in taking a look, there is also a revision of this video that I posted, and then there are other songs I've made videos for, if you want to look around on my channel. :) Thank you so much for your comment. :)
@BowtieFloss300 Thanks :o) As to your question, I tried to pick pictures that coincide with the lyrics. When Sara sings 'am I the chance result of some great accident?' I chose a picture of monkeys becoming men because it's a popular image that's symbolic of evolution, in other words 'the chance result' and then the whirlpool is symbolic of the 'primordial soup', or in other words 'some great accident'...
@BowtieFloss300 Though I used to look at the world in that way, I now look at from the perspective of the following lyrics in the song 'I hear a rhythm call me, the echo of a grand design'. And that's how Sara Groves sees it too, but the song is from the perspective of someone who's seeking and still trying to decide what to believe...
@BowtieFloss300 I can really relate to it in that way, because I've been there. God is very patient. Even patient with atheists. I used to be one, so I should know. :o) The journey towards Christ begins with God moving us to ask questions like these, I think. That's why it's a unique song, because it's meant for people who are still wondering, and not just for people who already believe. It's obvious that Sara Groves has a heart for people in that in-between place. :o)
