I live in Seattle and work for myself, and pay for my own health care/insurance. I have found that direct primary care is a fantastic and affordable alternative to paying high premiums for comprehensive health insurance...that I never use. I'm signing up - and switching to a low-premium high-deductible health insurance plan. It saves me more than $100/month.

I've seen some of these practices and the genuine gratitude patients have for access to doctors who can actually spare the time to help them get and stay well. We desperately need this type of affordable health care in California.

Health insurance IS NOT the same as health care. Lets keep insurance where it belongs - to protect us financially from catastrophic illness and accident. And lets each take personal responsibility for our own health, and have a direct relationship with our doctor. Get the insurance company out of the middle of that relationship and don't put the government there in their place! Direct Medical Homes are the way of the future. Lets embrace them!!

Health care reform in America has been so focused on insurance that it risks overlooking this brilliant and simple solution for basic health care. I'm a patient at a direct primary care clinic and am amazed by the quality of care and the cost savings.
