Jerry Reed is soooooooo amazing!!!! I really miss him! He was one of a kind and truly an artist above all other guitar players. Him and Chet Atkins playing together was the best guitar performances ever!!!!!!!
That's a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe....I'd say a early 70's model.....Jerry's using Music Man amps at this time in his career....The man could play any style of music.....It's a shame, most people remember him as a dopey side kick actor !
@hammer289c I'm a huge Jerry Reed fan, but if ya look when he goes from Yakkety Sax to Wildwood Flower at his right foot, he clicks that button by his foot that gave the guitar kind of an echo effect (and I just read the above comment as I typed that lol), it doesn't make a Lick of difference, he still is and always will be the Best Guitar Man in country music, and I didn't mean to demean you or anything, just thought I'd point it out to a fellow fan :)
@DwightFan its alright...thats what i meant is that he dont need affects to cover up his mistakes truly one of the purest and cleanest guitar players.
Ok, Now can you send someone over here to pick my Jaw up off the floor please.. Jerry really was the stuff, I had the privilege to work with him in the 90's, he had his wife on keyboards also,, Great memories of him that day for sure...
The drummer is Larry Londin; played on thousands of Nashville studio sessions; did many drum overdubs for Elvis in the late '70s, especially for Elvis' live albums ; he also played drums for Elvis live on occasion ('76, '77) when Ronnie Tutt had another commitment; Londin drummed with Elvis at his last concert ever on June 26, 1977
You know what I really hate? When somebody uploads a video like this and forgets to name the songs. You didn't forget, and as a result, I discovered Snowbird. Thank you!
never saw Jerry play a Les Paul much.....looks good on him......it has those mini humbuckers that were not real popular.....one of the best players ever....just ask Brad Paisley.....you can tell he listened Jerry while learning as a kid....
thank you very much, jedzxol for posting this medley, please don't ever remove it,this is the wickest guitar picking, you could ever hear, you can't get much better than that..the only guy that could do that kind of picking is glen campbell, but his guitar wouldn't be tuned that way, he had a different way of tuning a guitar that i ever heard.wicket just wicket. thank you again. John B.
I would bet they are balanced on stage. Musicians know how to turn there guitar and amps up on the fly. The problem is in the sound room. And unfortunately in those days you didn't have enough audio tacks to put the guitars on separate tracks. So you couldn't fix it in post production. You would think in a 5 minute instrumental they could get the sound balanced. My guess is it was standard to do a pre show sound check and not change mic levels from there.
Jerry wasnt loud enough in my oppinion.. which is really a shame when he was using that delay. i bet parts of that sounded alot better than what we heard, which was still exellent.
@grandstef Yeah those are minis I can tell by looking and hearing. Mini hums sound close to a P-90 single coil. BTW someone turn down the acoustic guitar so we can hear Jerry.
@galberke2009 Europe isn't the only place that Reed isn't that well-known. Here in the US, most people know him for his role in the 'Smokey and the Bandit' films instead of for his great guitar work and songwriting! Fortunately, I came across him a few years--about four now, I think. But, yeah--it certainly is a shame that not too many people seem to know about Reed's great music and especially his guitar work.
@badfinger848 I am sad that when I tell young people about his music I have to tell them he was the evil coach in "the waterboy" they don't even remember "smokey and the bandit".
@yetitracker As a 21-year-old, I feel ashamed of people around my age who don't know about 'Smokey and the Bandit.' I mean, sure--not knowing about the third one is one thing, but not knowing about the first two is just not a good thing!
Great stuff. I love to watch Jerry Reed play live because he's got so much energy. The only way this could have been improved was if they turned that rhythm guitar down.
THANKS for uploading!!! I've been looking for this one for a long time (since it was removed from youtube)...and now...FINALLY! I couldn't get this tune out of my head for over a year! Jeff
A lot of people have forgotten or just don't know, maybe because of his acting career, but Reed was an excellent guitarist

@hammer289c If you listen closely, it sounds as if he's got echo on his guitar. And whoever did the sound has got Paul Yandell too loud.
