I review the 50250 on youtube. It is HEPA only, and the hepa filter is expensive. Almost all HEPA filters are "sealed" - only vacuum cleaners leak air put the side, despite what marketers tell you.
@AliveAir thanks so much for your answer. I'll be getting this for now then when I have a bit more spending money I am without a doubt getting the Alive Air.
I got a question I'm searching for the best air purifier because I want the best air for me and my family I was told that the Pure Ion Advance air purifier it work with electro static plates by itself would this one is a good one to buy ? the price is 199.00 I want to know, right now in my home I have a little one from kenmore ionizer it has only 2 different filtration process so I want a better one can you experts advice me for buying the top of the science air filter system
HI - I'm not a fan of the Brookstone Pure Ion for several reasons 1) Being an ion based only machine it produces too much Ozone which can be harmful 2) without a HEPA filter it will not gather much dust or pollen and 3) At $220 it is not a good value for the small space that it covers...hope that helps
Take a look at the Alive Air Machine (aliveair.com) . At $299 (free shipping) it covers 861 square feet, includes HEPA, UV and 9 total technologies plus a 5 year warranty :)
@vggeek10 Thank you to inform me I'm really interested in your live air it souds top science I'll check your videos about the models available for $299.00
I have found myself doing al hell of alot more dusting in my apartment than ever. I got dust build up everyday in my house and im a neat clean freak. I hate it. Will this machine help me breath better and clear up the dust in my apartment? Please help i have mt best friend living with me (american bulldog) and he does alot of moving around and playing but im fed up with the dust.
Thanks for the question. .. If you run a good HEPA air purifier (like this one) on high you'll see a good reduction in dust. However the dog running around might actually help, since he's stirring up the dust on the floor into the air. This might help the purifier fan draw it in ( p.s. please let the dog know he can send me a check for that comment.. wink-wink!)
i just bought a oreck xl proshield. is that model any good. it was hella expensive. did i just throw away money? ALiveAir guy please give me a suggestion. should i return it and get a different one?
The factory in China that makes the Oreck revelaed that they charge Oreck $37 for making it. The marketing on the oreck is well done, and very expensive. I personally don't endorse it for the money, and no HEPA for dust...sorry!!!!!!
As an engineer in the field for industrial/commercial applications.
Other than # of technologies in a unit, you need to look at the interactions between them and the performance of each one.
For example, UV lamp will need a well designed reflector in order to work effectively (Exposure period + intensity). HEPA filter will need to have a good seals around the filter to prevent the bypass (Although 99.9% rated for the filter but it will be useless if 20% of the air bypasses the filter)
Thanks for the info.. The use of Tio2 magnifies the effect and exposure of UV light - up to 1,000 times. The whole bypass idea around HEPA ("the "leaking seal conspiracy") is something that in my 30 years is more of a marketing ploy than anything. I haven't seen even the cheap units "leak".
Very well -made, a bit pricey ($800-1200) for a HEPA and Carbon Canister machine, and no UV or germ killing ability. That's why I took on this unit...
Thanks for explaining all 9 technologies. So since Oreeck is just electrostatic plates, and ecoquest is ozone, how does IQair and austin air measure up?
The IQAir and Austin are primarily HEPA air purifiers/ They are well made, but very expensive ($600-1200) for HEPA alone (plus expensive replacements). I'd look at the aliveair for $349 which has 3 times more technology and includes a large HEPA.
Can UK citizens buy this alive air machine?

I was wondering what do you guys think of the Honeywell 50250? Is it sealed off to prevent dirty air coming back into the air?
