  • The song, "All for the Best," finds its inspiration from the Book of Job, which may be subtitled, "When bad things happen to good people." It is a sad, but ancient truth. It also offers a simplistic view of Jesus' parables about being blessed in the after-life. But then Godspell is really a child-like, joyful piece of musical theatre where jadedness has no place.

  • If your an atheist then you should look into historical facts (STUDY, LOL). Science / history has already set the course to survival of the strongest. The intelligent / rich. If you believe there is a God, then I will not say more. This song (to me) came from the evil men who designed this future to laugh in our faces with truth. As if to say they warned us, but we laughed it out of our thoughts. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse here, but if you believe in God, there is forgiveness.

  • The end is so sad. :(

  • This is fucking gay shit man

The only cool part was seeing the world trade center

  • @ 3:11 ... "wait a minute, that's no answer to the question !!!" In other words, the movie is concealing a hidden message. You have to figure-it-out with what you can see with your eyes. Think about it. Open your eyes (and clean-out any specks in them)

  • @fastfoodclowns i dont understand..maybe i have a speck in my eye...

  • @Ileikturtles1 What speck? I'm too busy with this giant plank in my own.

  • I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, unfortunately, @ 2:16 the big clock shows 11:29 am --- a disguised 9/11 ????? and the 2 is for the twin towers that will fall? or for the new century beginning with 2......?

  • @fastfoodclowns That is quite possibly the dumbest observation I've ever read.

  • @fastfoodclowns I'm quite sure that's pure coincidence.

  • @InuYashaTard .... of course! That is the naive response: "just a coincidence." But you want to know why it is NOT a coincidence? You can know that it was intentionally done because the billboard below says: "Accutron by Bulova." In other words, the clock is giving you an "accurate" message.... Think about it.....

  • @fastfoodclowns i'm not big on conspiracy theories.

  • that last shot is kind of poignant...

  • @imajeepster I felt the same thing. Seeing the towers.

  • our school is doing Godspell & i get to play John the Baptist/Judas. i'm so excited :3

  • Absolutely stunning photography from 1:24 -1:58. Kudos to the DC and Director!

  • I bet when they made this movie these poeple were high

  • @missKittykimble Actually, the original musical was made by college students from Carneige Melon! Then the show moved to theatres in New York, and then this movie was created, and now it's coming to Broadway again.

  • The enemy is not Islam. It is not America. It is not Christianity nor Iraq nor Iran nor Afghanistan. Our enemy is HATE. Christ taught us how to combat hate--with love. Please, even if this is only a Youtube comment section... Could we try his ideas? Could we prove the forces of hatred wrong?

COULD WE LOVE EACH OTHER REGARDLESS OF CREED OR RACE??

  • 3:05 SOME MEN ARE SAD

  • IIIRRRONNNYYYY!!!!!

  • Gee I wonder if this same connection..."Jesus movies/WTC/Jesus movie/WTC" wasn't running through the heads of the Muslims who were probably using a copy of this film to orient themselves, as they studied "flying but not taking off or landing" at various U.S. flight schools.

We are so dumb. We trained these people to fly in our own country. Generous to a fault, aren't we.

  • wtf ppl used to like this type of music?

  • Jesus Tapdancing Christ on the World Trade Center!!

  • sometimes i forget this is victor garber, love him in this so much :)

  • Are they nuts standing close to that edge?

  • Also, my mind was blown when I realised that Jesus is being played by Alias' Dad! :O

  • it's good to see the world trade center again. I still miss it to this day.

  • Whats the best way to find mp3iiiiify to download this mp3? Someone told me to google mp3iiiiify.

  • @LeighMartinezzz video2mp3

It won't let me post it. It's a dotnet

  • Here's your useless trivia for today...the piano player in this song (and on the sountrack album) PAUL SHAFFER

  • Last line.. "Someone's got to be oppressed"

    wat.

  • jesus is singing about the bad things in life and says everything will turn good while Judas sings about the good things in life and says everyone can't be happy, someone has to be sad or oppressed

  • @Atraitus Judas' last line. He's speaking in the pessimistic portion. He's saying that everything good is for the people on top. Monarchs, politicians, etc. He's making it clear that those not on top are to be unhappy. Jesus' contrast is saying that one should not feel that way because it will all pay off.

  • Judas and Jesus dancing on the WTC. Genius.

  • @moorewjr I like the scene on the jumbotron at times square 2:10 to 2:30

  • i love this video.

  • 2:26 sneaky advertising!

  • One of the first film moments I thought of when "it" happened. Jesus and Judas doing a vaudville routine on top of the World Trade Center singing "It's all for the Best". Surreal and sublime.

Amazing more people are not aware of this profound film moment.

  • I understand

  • @RobGoth100 Hey heres the thing their stupid This movie was made in 1973 do you think they had any idea that the twin towers were gonna go down

  • 1:15 best part of the song

  • This is a beautiful song. I performed this with my good friend as a duet for my final show choir performance my senior year in high school. It was by a far margin the most fun I've ever had singing. We received a standing O, it was a great feeling.

  • Good comment!

  • Islam is no more rogue than Christtianity or Judaism, and they are no more righteous than Islam.

Terrorism is not "Islamic" - there are of course terrorists who call themselves Islamic, just as there are terrorists who call themselves Christian (the KKK for instance). Any thoughtful reading of the scriptures (many of which are the same for these three faiths) clearly forbids the sort of behavior one might call "terrorism".

  • Comment removed

  • @RobertKent1 That's my view as well. Not just the KKK, which I didn't think of previously, but Nazis, the Crusaders, slave owners. Most, if not all, believed in Christ, but did not see that Christ also blessed the nonbelievers. That's the deal with the speck of sawdust. If the Nazis are trying to "purify" the world, they are trying to take the speck of sawdust out of the eyes of the Jews, Poles, Gays, etc., when all the time there's this great plank of ignorance and racism in their own.

  • @RobertKent1 How can the Ku Klux Klan be "terrorists"? The Klan was instituted to confront and set straight the violence, mayhem, murder, and terror that had consumed the South following the Civil War! Moe's the point with these issues you're mentioning today...is that we in the West are no Arabs or Turks or any of the other violent, backward races that embraced Islam, nor did we ever accept Islam as a people and society!

  • @rdangelo : Whoaaa... wanna keep the ignorance to yourself there, buddy? The three religions you just mentioned are Abrahamic religions. They have more in common than they do in contrast. The problem isn't religion, its fringe groups hijacking ideologies. The people who ran into the world trade centre were extremists posing as muslims. I'd have essay s for you on this subject if it weren't for the character limit.

  • @rdangelo I totally agree. When the movie opened, I was shocked to see it. But it is not rogue. It is radical. Most Muslims are hospitable. Same for the Nazis. They were radical Catholics.

In essence, (sorry, I was listening while typing) no one thing should ever be solely for those who are on top of the human food chain.

Another thought from listening and typing: the fact that you see Islam as rogue is the plank in your eye; perhaps it's the speck of sawdust. But do I have a plank in my eye?

  • @rdangelo you're biased, and ignorant. If you think terrorism is islamic, then you're diff ignorant. Let me tell u what, im muslim, and i can tell you that in The Quran our holy book terrorists are punished greatly. Even more, Allah told us to live in peace with our religions never trying to enter in other religions' business.

  • @cleverheart123 then who the fuck flew the planes, attacks Israel, and generally is committing terrorism all over the world? Not Jews, not Christians, not Buddhists, not Hindus? Who is left?

  • @rdangelo UR NUTS !! have u ever watched the news, ours nt urs and saw wht really, happens in gaza or Iraq?! People, and i mean children and women die everyday !! we're helpless !! WTF ! and the presence of bad muslims doesnt mean all muslims are bad !! so open ur fuckin eyes and see the truth ! neither religions are bad, but the people who do whatever they like under the slogan of Islam or Christianity, Well Hitler for instance wasnt muslim i guess, so if u dnt knw wht ur talkin about stfu.

  • @rdangelo Ahaha, athiests, that's who.

Naw, I'm just kidding. These Youtube debates get way too serious. STOP THE HATE--all of yeh. You'd think, people who come to watch a clip from a movie about Christ and his teachings would be a bit nicer, no?

  • @rdangelo

Only symbolizes such a battle if you believe the official story of 911. For people like me it symbolizes the extreme corruption and desperation of an empire on the verge of collapse.

  • Jesus Tapdancing Christ on the World Trade Center!

  • i love that song its my fave song from godspell my brother is doing godspell at his school hes jesus and he has to wear the superman outfit lol anyway GO GODSPELL!!

  • What school is it ?

And that piano part after the dialogue amazes my mind.

  • i so agree with you man!!I LOVE THE OUTFIT!

  • Eerie.

  • truly

  • do anyone see the deeper meaning here????????

even uopn construction of the towers the "powers that be" were aware of what they were going to do with these mystic pillars..

lyrics at the end - "all your laws will be regressed, someone's got to be oppressed, yes it's all for the best!"" then the towers just finished, probably first time in a movie.

the "powers that be" decide what we will see when it comes to media. guidance to you friends............

  • Are you serious or bi-polar?

  • I mean, let's just pretend that there was a conspiracy behind 9/11, why would the Powers that Be go through all of the trouble of writing a musical, having it be a success, then base a scene in a place that TPTB are going to blow up about 30 years later?

    Why would they do that?

  • it's called sigil magick ... it's being done all the time, look through my favorites if you really want to know if i'm intelligent or bipolar....

  • i don't think all that sir, but i think the "powers that be" suggested shooting it on the towers, and those last words in the song... listen

  • just wanted to point out you got the lyrics at the end wrong. It's "all your wrongs will be redressed, you must never be distressed, someone's got to be abreast, yes it's all for the best!".

  • maybe I got the lyrics wrong... listen again.

can't trust the scripts my friends.... or the government.

    WAKE UP ARTISTS! cheers

  • thanks for uploading this! My favorite song from this movie;)

  • Quite true- we should all live according to the Bible, the Gospels in particular.

  • Indeed, and with the amount of joy and peacefullness seen in this movie.

  • This number is magnificent. I wish that more people lived their lives as though they lived in this movie.

  • Just to add something: Not only is Victor Garber absolutely fantastic, he is so YOUNG here!

And those limbs! Arms and legs that last FOREVER.
