après 30 ans, peut être plus, j'adore toujours, j'aime plein de choses actuelles, j'ai adoré la musique des années 1980, mais les who, neil young, les stones, et d'autres... c'est trop bon d'écouter tout çà
all true about them being the best and who would compare to them in 30 years but those who came up in the 80's with their heavy metal guitar tricks that take music into some other thing don't agree with you and they're wrong. I have a brother who plays guitar who thinks he is better than brian may. SEE what I mean? the generation of the 80's is a ME generation who can't give greats like the Who credit. self centered B@#@#&&&
I think its cool what Roger said at the VH1 rock honors. He said that as long as he and Pete were able to do so, they'll keep rockin' our world. I also think Roger was nearly crying as he looked toward the sky after their set was over. I wonder if he was saying "I wish (Original drummer) Keith (Moon) and (Original bassist)John (Entwhistle) were here." I also find it funny that Pete and Roger did the most whining, but they're the only two original members left! For that we owe them a big thanks.
JohnnyGrave108, You are right, there are many bands that never received noteriety. er, I listen to Rock music from present back to the beginning of rock. I also listen to Chopin, Mozart, Brahms and many others, as well as jazz, country, big bands from the 40's, almost everything. I must say that although there are some decent artists and songwriters today, most of todays music sounds like it was written by a six year old and recorded on a ten dollar keyboard. Plus, it's a bunch of whiny crap.
is chopin better than the beatles? mozart better than metallica? fuck, who knows, who cares? if you go around trying to compare you'll end up crazy. music is always better tomorrow, becuz you have one more soul out there, expressed, to be sung.
What comparison R we making? Popularity, musicality? Music may B 2 subjective 2 debate, but this list = truly legendary & great bands. Most agree w/that. IMO it was a time that will never come again. U2 might = comparable status. Only time will tell. IMO there R amazing bands w/o that notoriety. “James” comes to mind. But what’s the comparison? Popularity/musicality? That is answered w/the list above: these bands had both. HAVE both & cont. 2B bands new gens of musicians say changed their life.
I think there is no band like Led Zeppelin The Who, The Doors, The Beatles, The Animals, Pink Floyd and Joy Division. This is the real problem of music this times.
i hate how everybody on classic rock videos just assumes that all teenagers listen to lady gaga and that all modern music is rubbish when theyve never even listened to it and @BoredAtHomeStudios most people rate led zep over the who anyway so theres someone to compare them to
Every generation has the artists they like, my old man thought The Who sucked and I love them...I think limp bizkit sucks and many people love them and the next generation will laugh at all of us, so it is all good, I just so happens that I love the music of my generation...
If any of you have ever watched interviews with other bands who were asked who influenced them, there was MANY of them who have answered The Who..... They laid the foundation to what we now know at GREAT rock music!
@RankielGuitar In alot of their later stuff, and ALOT even earlier, live, he didnt sing for some reason, he had a mic, and would sing his solo stuff, (My Wife, Boris ETC) but not chorus.
They re just shadows here.In 70 -71 these guys were the fucking best live band on the planet. They re performance on the Rolling Stones rock and roll circus was so good .The Stones canned the whole idea in shame.
@gwozdezzz well you know the problem is not that there are no good bands anymore... the problem is that good bands don't get the credit they deserve. take a look at porcupine tree it's one of the best bands that exist right now, just few ppl listen to them so they aren't very famous like the who, beatles and all lthe other bands were 30 years ago. so it's not the bands that suck. it's the charts:p
Don't be so narrow minded! If you cared to actually listen to all of today's music instead of going off the mainstream, you'd find bands that will be remembered. Kings Of Leon for example, they're not exactly pop, neither were the Who.
@gwozdezzz That what I used to think until I got into other genres and newer music...just because its not popular doesnt mean its not good, loads of indie obscure bands are amazing, but I still love LZ, Cream, Black Sabbath and Hendrix more than anything
@gwozdezzz Muse, Death Cab, Radiohead, the Shins...believe it or not, there's still plenty of great music out there, even in the mainstream some places.
@thewriter1008 Agree. There was at least as much crap in the 60s as there is today. No. 1 selling single of 1969? Sugar, sugar by The Archies. 'nuf said.
Yeah you right he`s still on good shape, compare him to mick jagger, that dude looks like he`s 100 years old, I`m wondering what type of drugs he used .
Mick Jagger is in great shape. He doesnt have an ounce of fat on him. He runs 5 to 7 miles per day. Daltrey is also in great shape. Drug use went out decades ago.
Roger Daltrey's in his sixties, but you'd never tell from this footage. The guy doesn't look a day over forty, what the heck's going on? Has he discovered the fountain of eternal youth or something?
rogers been a fitness nut since before the band started. he was really the only clean one in the early days. like retiring to bed early after shows instead of clubbing with john and kieth. lol so... we all should live like roge.
It is Rogers attitude why he is in great shape. I met him and he was a nice personal guy. Very friendly and happy and positive. He also stays healthy by singing and not sitting on his ass.
Why is Pete dressed like he's going to go bowling after the show? Roger's Han Soloish thing's not bad, but it's just a really strange choice for such a legendary guitarist.
Fred Durst being talked about around any song by The Who is disgraceful and stupid . I'm not even acknowledging that there was any bullshit peon cover of this masterpiece.
I'd say the Limb Bizkit cover of this song was THEIR best work, however, not even close to the original...especially since they cutout the best part and replaced it with boring and repetitive electro sound
It's astonishing that the music is still strong today and that Daltrey and Townshend are still going strong when they were at their peak getting on for 40 years ago. Here's to many more!!
@smolinskiboi That makes Limp Bizkit sound remotley good, they're actually shit. Plus they can be compared to the Who, they'd just be better than the Who at nothing.

@smolinskiboi That makes Limp Bizkit sound remotley good, they're actually shit. Plus they can be compared to the Who, they'd just be better than the Who at nothing.

@smolinskiboi True... but covers are meant to pay tribute to the original not to compete with it
