6/8 is not a Persian beat! many countries and cultures of that region use the 6/8 rhythm.

The tar u refer to is not a persian tar! its a Turk( Azerbaijani tar), it has less strings while there is an added low pitch string, its a little different in shape and is held towards the chest rather than on lap, like the Persian one.

What u call Sorna, we call zirna and play it too! no idea about it though!

The music of that region is very similar and shared and hopefully enjoyed among all!

The Taar is a Persian instrument with origins in Persia, It's definately not a turkic instrument e.g because it belongs to the lute family. Azarbaijan and neighbouring countries have adopted this instrument
