  • To how to playbass.com,,,,actually your keyboard player was right ,its like a harmony note,he starts with the E note and you on the c note.very strange but effective !!!!

  • The riff does not start on the E note,a mistake most bass players make!! The notes are C to D to B to D,,,,,rest is easy..

  • @bassmantucci Yeah - I've seen this debate on Talkbass. I originally learned this line off a keyboard player at a rehearsal and what I taught is based on what he taught me. (And usually keyboard players have the best ears in the band! Maybe not in this case....) Been meaning to check this out for a while and film a correction if needed!

  • Thaank you....from Argentina..... abrazooo

  • @cardenal1 yr welcome.

  • Good vid, but I would take what people are saying as constructive criticism. You aren't in the groove. Close, but not there. Much of it has to do with how you are picking each note. The 5 note run should be mostly hammered. First note is open, second on 5, third on 7. 5 and 7 should be hammered. Fourth note can be picked, better if hammered, 5th note should be hammered. It removes the separation between notes so the run is smooth and the timing is better. (See next comment for rest...)

  • By the way, keep up the good work. I appreciate all of your posts and videos. Lots of help to me. Hats off to you and your efforts to help the musicians of today.

  • Hi, just a few pointers on this one, I noticed at the end of the chorus, on the riff...Lay down the boogie.....It actually starts with a different note than you specify. Yours sounds good, but the original is a harmony to the melody line. It actually starts on D string 10th fret then it goes to G string 7th fret and then alternates from that string to the D string 9th fret and completes the riff as you mentioned. Listen the original, I am sure you will agree.Hope this helps you, my friend! :)

  • you just dont have the groove

  • @kiter1surf2 Perhaps you can post a video response showing everyone how it's done then?

  • thank you!! i just joined a band for my school and this helped me impress my teacher so much!! thank you!!

  • @gabe2311 Great! Well done for actually sitting down and doing some work! (It's the thing most of the armchair critics avoid doing!)

  • is it a piezo pick up?

  • @giovannipasinetti Nope - this bass is a Line 6 Variax - it's a digital modelling bass. There are no pick ups.

  • @ButtonKillers Great! I really like to hear from people who actually go through the tutorials and USE them! Good on you. Keep practicing!

  • @Howtoplaybassdotcom

I'm on vakation right now but i will try in about 4 weeks :)

(hope you aren't offended i agree that you must be a prof player, but you aren't like 'Funking' and i think that's totaly nescesairy(is that the correct spelling?)) hope that that helps

    Sunny greetings from Sweden!

  • @MrMaxHolm Hey - not offended at all! If someone thinks I could do something better...then that's cool as far as I'm concerned. It's an opportunity for me to learn....I'll always take those opportunities. You're the first person who's left criticism who's been prepared to back it up with a video - so kudos to you! Let me know when you're back.

  • @Iclaughton

You are so right! I was just looking in the comments if someone agreed with me :)

Keep it FUNKY(i think 'funkey' looks better but i'm not American or English)

  • @MrMaxHolm Thanks for the comment - I've got no problem with people critiquing what I do. Perhaps you could upload a video showing how it should be done. That would be really helpful.

  • you really are helping not just me to all the people that play the bass but unfortunately its not that popular as the guitar is THANK you (sorry for my grammar mistakes)

  • thx sir....you rock my men.

  • @MrChistoi Thanks for the comment - glad that helped you out!

    Cheers!!

  • pretty good rendition but the notes are not all correct... you definitely missed the one nobody ever gets - on the word 'LAY' (lay down the boogie) the bassist on the record hits a 'C'. try it - you'll hear what i'm talking about.
