Even though I'm a Yankee fan and I know he beat the Yankees in game 3 of the 1963 World Series...I sure miss Don...always a tough adversay when the game meant much!
@purleses Not so in the World Series when it matters.
He won game 3 of the 1959 World Series. In game 3 of the 1963 World Series, he tossed a 3 hitter and beat the Yankees 1-0. He won game 4 (a crucial one) for the Dodgers in the '65 World Series, giving up just two runs. Another game 4, 1966 World Series, he gave up just 1 run!
Drysdale is just one of many outstanding baseballers to hail from Los Angeles, Ca...for decades, L.A. has been funneling hall of fame talent into the bigs...
His delivery was unbelievably dominant. Koufax was the better of the two...but Drysdale was hall-of-fame material...I watched you ask a kid and as a Giant's fan...hated you!!! Miss ya!!!
He died quite suddenly at age 56 from a heart attack. He died in his hotel room before he was scheduled to do a Dodger broadcast. A similar fate met one of my alltime favorites, Richie Ashburn, who died in his hotel room in NY after he had broadcast a Phillies-Met game at Shea.
Great catch and video---now try hitting against him in his prime.

Drysdale was always good in the early months but always faded in September and October. His career stats for those months is atrocious.

@purleses. That was true with most power pitchers like Ryan or Clemens. They threw a lot of innings.
