  • I dont usually like covers but o.m.g this is awesome

  • a girl playing drums... in the 70's?

  • Best version of JJF ever recorded. Thanks for posting

  • i always end up in the same place ....fine by me

  • Good cover but Edgar was the better winter

  • RIP Randy

  • A fuckin awesome American original !!

  • I saw this line up on tour at the Palace live in Albany NY in 1974. Kicked serious ass. Floyde is no slacker as a lead player. Check out the mid-70's clothes - half shirts and platforms . . .ah, my high school days . . .

  • better than the stones

  • I remember seeing this when it first went out. Knockout stuff.

  • Winter all over rock n' roll !!!! The Master !!!!

  • Can anyone tell me who the other kid on guitar is? He's amazing.

  • @jon1156

The guy on 2nd guitar is Floyd Radford

  • @jon1156

The guy on 2nd guitar is Floyd Radford.

  • @jon1156 Rick Derringer

  • @gregorbakhar I think we've established that it's Floyd Radford, but when in doubt, Rick Derringer is always a good guess.:)

  • he is just so damn cool...ps..he just makes this looks easy...nobody plays AND sings like johnny but a select few

  • Magical, exiting, Hendrix sort of soloing and dynamics. I also love it how the way he moves and the gestures he makes, complement the music. Sad to know he's now tight to a chair, but it also shows what a true musician this man is.

  • After hearing this I wanna go out in a bar, burn some rubber on the way to it, have a couple of beers and score with some chick. This is THE cover

  • Johnny covered the Stones often......a testament to their greatness.

  • this is brilliant but dont diss the stones who were the greatest rock and roll band ever

    bar none

  • R these golden girls?

  • カッチョイイ!ぶっ飛んでます。

  • Can you say SPEED....

  • @mayito714 speed kills so don't meth around!

  • To bad they don't make these awesome Marshall amps anymore!

I crashed mine packing the gears after a gig long time ago ; (

We can never get close to that awesome sound now!

  • holy fucking shit omg kfc is awesome wth this is the shittttt

  • In the early 70's, Johhny Winter was one of the guitar gods to any young guitar player like me.

In 40 years of listening to him, no one has been able to match his combined control and passion.

    I now own a Firebird V and I pretend...

  • une superbe version inoubliable

  • not saying this fella plays crap. This still is a hell of a version!. Just in my opinion, it's not as good as the ohter one...

fermillo65 3 weeks ago ; really? have you ever heard the stones play this live?

Johnny Winter does to this song what Hendrix does to all along the watchtower.

  • WHo is the bass player on that?

    BTW, Winter is always great.

  • @fdscasti

The bass player was Randy Jo Hobbes.

  • caught in the cross hairs of disco and glam rock with the gold stacks lol

  • I saw Winter a Knuckleheads a couple weeks ago, still puts on a damn fine show. Still impressive licks.

  • you can't replace Mick Jagger... get him in there and you get a better version than the original one...

otherwise, i prefer the stones one...! not saying this fella plays crap. This still is a hell of a version!. Just in my opinion, it's not as good as the ohter one...

  • great quality thks

  • 2:49 bassist is too cool to play with 2 hands o.o

  • the best version ever

  • i love it when both guitars play lead

  • a great song played by real musicians

  • He put notes in there the Stones didn''t even know existed.

Not slamming the Stones. They wrote the song.

But Winter is like "Mozart" in Amadaus.

    The king said........."too many notes".

He just did get the brilliance.

  • Great version !

  • Väläytä, väläytä Jussi hyppäävää riffi-kättäsi, onko huomenna pouta? Vai lyökö Belse-beibe meidät salamalla tomuksi?

  • What's the drummer's name?

  • @jhendrixfanatic2 it's richard hugues he played with johnny from 73 to 76

  • .............Oh, OK , only kidding

  • Kids, THIS is Rock!

  • More excellent tuneage. The music fans of today have it great. A great backlog cataloge of rock they can access through Youtube and p2p plus whatever new stuff comes out.

  • This is great.

    --

But the Stones studio version rules because they are so sleezy/creepy.

And the Keith Richard bass is just the best.

They bettered the Studio version in some immense live video they did shortly after with Jagger sing 'yeah.. yeah...' right from the off.

    ----

    It's on Youtube somewhere.

  • @GravityBoy72 Oh hell, I can't say this sounds better than the original either, but it don't sound worse! He carries the song in a different direction. But DAMN! He can play. Freakin' ROASTS the lead!

  • on je najboljši

  • and he`s still going strong, not only in 70th!!! great gutar man

  • Heavy Metal 70's style...Rockin RoLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • i would like to see if this gen can reproduce this. makes me think that talen is far and few between now. but in old days...we could and we did

  • Sweet memories of times gone bye. Go johnny go. Hi Jeanne.

  • Blows the Stones right outta here.

  • une superbe version des stones par un grand ,

  • Johnny Winter was great & represented the best of the 70's.

  • THIS IS ROCK & ROLL !!!!!!!

Forget who wrote what, what guitar rocks the most, eyebrows , and that sh...

Johnny Winter Rocked the world with his versions. Nowadays he is an old man, but respect to Johnny W

  • @tjandthemarshalls All right!!!

  • he looks like Bill Maher with no eyebrows

  • Is he super tall or does he just look that way cause he's so skinny?

Also, in my opinion his singing is good but bad. Like there are certian things about his voice I like. But other parts bug me, It's actually quite bothersome :P

  • @mrnikko419 It's poetry.

  • Why do people spend so much time trying to prove that one musician or band is better than the other? I saw Johnny play this Stones track live and the whole concert hall went crazy! Enjoy the music!

  • No.

  • Great version indeed, but stones wrote it!

Anybody can copy a song but to create is complety different....

  • This pisses all over the stones--from twenty stroreys high!

  • @growguyuk hey man! of course this is a far out version of the original. Johnny's in great form and fantastic guitar playing but twenty storeys is a bit too high man. Perhaps 3 storeys is high enough! I like your comment. Ciao man!

  • This is bloody brilliant! Already one of my favourite cover versions! Great playing and after seeing this I want a Firebird!

  • @jonmitchell1968

    Right on Baby!!!

    But I think that's a Gibson Thunderbird???

  • No it's a gibson firebird. A thunderbird is basically the same thing but it's a bass.

    Fire= guitar

    Thunder=bass

    Makes sense to me :D

  • @jonmitchell1968 who does'nt

  • Rock N Roll

  • chrook is on the money

  • I've just been to one of his concerts in Belgrade, Serbia. Yesterday, actually. He is so old. He didn't even open his eyes for the whole concert. He tried to stand at the end of the play, but couldn't. He played great though! The guitar seemed like a toy in his hands...

  • he hardly opens his eyes because being albino, his vision is extremely light sensitive.

Yes, he plays the electric blues guitar like he invented it.

  • yes, being on stage with the stage lighting is horrible - but lovley of course as well.... :-D don´t think any kind of sunglasses would help him either... :-S the only way is to close your eyes, but I´m sure he opened them when you didn´t see it... the white eyelashes could fool you... :-)

  • I can't complain about this version thoough

  • I agree with chrook.I luv the version he speaks of

  • Nah, this rendition rocks, you can't pick and choose, and say which performance was better, they are all the same, all the musicians played their asses off each time, so to suggest one is better than the other makes is look like some band members wern't maybe trying hard enuff or johnny was bored, and didn't do his best, nah, if you know johnny, you know this never ever effected his performances at all, it was ball's to tha wall, blues, scuse me mam, lmao ^5 love all of you, peace be with you

  • @teleevangelist - Thank you. This incessant stupid armchair-expert bickering about who is better and which version is better and all that is a crock of shite and I also am getting tired of it. Fucking shut up and listen to the tune or go do something else. Oh yeah, peace to you cunts, amen.

  • I good point buddy.. that's the one thing I hate about YouTube...

There is always some wit who is trying to be controversial ... more band width than brains...

  • More bandwidth than brains, LMAO. Thanks for the good laugh, mate.

  • The version on "Live Johnny Winter And" is the ultimate.

  • reminds me of Geddy Lee's bass

  • Johnny in his prime, for sure. This generation of players will never be forgotten, and will be and still are imitated.Very fine music!

  • Class act from Johnny vg tick tick

  • superb , seen johnny last month in glasgow , still terrific despite his frail health

  • Super ++++++

  • Love the song..but get sea sick watching the video. Jumping, jumping, jumping!! Damm Johnny's good!!!

  • did you guys order a pizza? it's okay, i can come back later if you're busy...

  • i never get tired of watching him. he's unreal.

  • (((WOW)))

  • Johny Winter could play this once with the Sones. separetely, he is better.

  • THIS IS IT !!! Pure High Voltage Rock 'n Roll , Love it (got this one on a live LP)

  • This is sooooooooo much better then stones.

  • as the saying goes... you can get 2 birds twice as stoned.

  • nothing beats a bit of the old grey whistle

  • ffn a yes

  • Its the "loaded up" johnny..Ohh yea this is the johnny i remeber

  • incredible video,and incredible mr.johnny winter
