  • One of the best songs to listen to whilst smoking a spliff and watching the sunrise :)

  • at 2:00, the sun comes up behind the horizont of a vast, greenlandic landscape.

  • The song makes me think of some kind of drug induced euphoria. Like a mental patient humming a tune to himself in his own happy little world.

  • I have a feeling that this song has a similar meaning like "Walking City" by Miho Hatori i.e.

that insects have an important role in how humans communicate with nature.

  • This song...I don't know quite what to say about it.

I want to be in my mother's womb again.

  • This track has a strange effect on me. When i'm sad it makes me cry and when i'm happy it fills me with euphoria, don't know why I get both emotions from it.

  • I got the feeling it was a kind of happy yet sad song. Like, there is a tinge of sorrow in the uplifting sound.

  • Has anyone listened to this song in reverse?

It is just as moving as the original song.

    : )

  • This is my interpretation. From the music around 2:30, it sounds like a carnival. The compound eye is a child. Tears from the compound eye. The child is crying at the carnival. Still, why is the child crying?

  • Boards of canada - Tears from the compound eye

  • It's odd how many interpretation you can come up with this.

Right now, it makes me think of the last moments before a peaceful death, with Farewell Fire following as the funeral.

  • you have to be high to see true beauty in stuff, sad.. but you are not alone, i know other sad people just like u.

  • @sirbikesalot Not really bud I smoke often and really BoC doesn't make a difference on what state of mind you're on, either way your going to be moved by their beautiful tunes.

  • This song and "Slow This Bird Down" are two of my favorites from the campfire headphase. I just wish they included "Macquarie Ridge" on all the releases...it's really the perfect end to the album. On a side note, has anyone pondered what the the compound eye is seeing that is causing to cry?

  • I interpreted that the eye was crying from nostalgic memories or its current sense of loneliness, but that's just me.

  • Actually, I think it's about the destruction of the insect's home due to progress. I feel it has some sort of nature theme.

  • My sentiments exactly. These are my two favourites on the album also macquarie ridge, so hard to find, they should have included it.

  • This song is something to listen to on those dark, rainy days alone.

It's like you are numb from love and pain.

    An unusual feeling....

  • This music proves that humanity can sometimes produce something that's actually worth it.

  • this piece should be used for the first Half Life movie. just a thought.

is sounds mysteriously and strangely epic.

  • i havent seen half life yet, mostly because i heard generally that it was terrible?!

  • no. not the movie from japan. that looks boring.

im talking about the upcoming video game-based movie. im giving ideas to Valve.

  • oh, thanks for the heads up.

  • I agree.

  • @MekaGabe actually the melody of this song is based on a movie score. it's the main theme from the 2003 psychological horror drama 'love object'.

  • This track is pretty much perfect, Listen to it closely on the headphones. Perfect.

  • i read a dumb blog for some dumb mag that said this album proved that BOC wasnt very good...i almost puked, went through seven stages anger denial, numbness..et al. what a joke.

  • screw those chumps. they dont know what there talking about.

  • i love BOC forever.....great music

  • One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

  • yeh, just takes you to a 'good' place

  • life is magical

  • this track is pure perfection. very beautiful

    i love it!

  • this is pure ambient bliss. also very nostalgic, brings back childhood, lost innocence.

  • this song makes me depressed but i love it.

sometimes i like to feel depressed and just be alone...dont know why..weird.

  • depression? This is what feeling perfect sounds like for me.

  • Someone said "This song is pretty much the sound of "depressing"

    Yeah.

  • magic track, I love it

  • Thanks! Indeed a great and very nostalgic song. One of my favorites.

  • The tone of the vid morphs with the song perfectly! cheers
