The main point of this video is that if we were to drop a few atomic bombs on Africa and entire world would benefit by slashing the spread of HIV by at least half. The truth hurts but someone has to say it.
The vast majority of deaths from AIDS have been in southern Africa. "Slashing deaths" by killing millions of innocents is like burning forests down to lower deforestation statistics. What is needed is compassion, research, and commitment.
@USCUSCTrojan1 The general rule for "hard truths" is that they be true and uncompromisingly rational. This suggestion, however, is just poorly thought out and lazy. Thumb down.
It seemed to have come from nowhere, except gay men where contracting it right and left back in the late 70"s. I remember it well. Rock Hudson the gay actor who contracted it from a homo-sexual relationship. He died in 1985, but more than likely lived with it for many years, as many do, and was diagnosed at the time with just a virus. The genital pimples, the swollen glands and lymph nodes, eventually tooth loss, liver parasites and then AIDS. Plenty of reason to refrain from risky behavior.
Please can you do a video on the so called ketogenic diets? My fitness instructor keeps telling me that carbohydrates cause cancer and that one should eat primarily meat and saturated animal fats in an aproximately 1:2 ratio with as little carbohydrate as possible. This does seem a very dangerous claim to me, but at least on the surface there seems to be a little evolutionary logic behind it, or is there?
I still believe an article i once read that said Aids/Hiv was transferred from simian t p human in a lab... They didn't create it or mutated it on purpose..... They synthesized the polio vaccine in monkey klidneys and pig kidneys... the pig didn't carry rhe disease, but monkeys did.... and they knew it could show up in people, but it was cheaper to use the monkeys than the pigs...so that was the vaccine used is Eastern Europe, the American South, South America, Africa and South Asia
@CoachDaKingMRP while the Pig sythesized vaccine was used in the wealthier Western Europe and Most of the U.S..... although this is a very good vid and i wont discount it, because it makes since, and is very plausible
One of my neighbors, who i chat with about conspiracy theories a lot, buys into the HIV conspiracy theory. He believes that HIV was manufactured by the U.S. government to kill the black population. He of course sent me a link to a website which supposedly has evidence proving this. heh. whatever~~
I'll send him this video, even though i know he'll still believe the conspiracy.
There's a certain tongue-in-cheek irony, but if a certified, competent health care professional disputes ANYTHING that I say, you are much safer going with their advice. Please, ask a doctor if what I'm saying is accurate.
I'm just some random Internet guy. For all you know, I wear my underwear on my head and smell like poo. Licensed medical professionals are always more reliable than random Internet strangers, like me.
I got it, but without tongue-in-cheek irony my humor vault would be seriously low. Besides you're my favorite underwear on the head, poo smelling, random internet stranger with a medical bent on youtube.
@Berelore Yeah, sort of like seeking medical treatment because you think that you are dying, is taking medical advice from a non-expert because you aren't an expert.
I found out a few weeks ago that two of my friends thought that aids 'spontaneously' formed when two gay men have anal sex, I was really amazed by their stupidity, but I don't think they even properly thought about it. I soon put them to rights though.
@rich0292 Sorry to inform you your friends are much smarter than you think. Your the one who was misled somewhere. I can attest to the fact it's a nasty result of unprotected anal sex. Men are too embarrassed to talk about the truth, I'm not. Count your lucky stars!
@coolhandkook Well it certainly doesn't 'spontaneously' generate as a result of anal sex but perhaps it's more likely to spread by that vector than by conventional sex, either because men in that position feel less need to wear condoms than a conventional couple with the added impetus of possible impregantion or wether there is something unique to anal sex that makes it more likely to transmit. It would explain why gay men arn't allowed to give blood, though I thought that was...
@rich0292 It seems to come from male anal sex. That was were it started here in the US in the 70's. As a virus in the blood it can be spread by mosquitos and anyone who has it and has gum disease can spread it through saliva. The US blood supply is tainted because of negative test results. That's been the experience of many.
1. HIV-1 doesn't spread through mosquito vectors. As a general rule, viruses have to be adapted to enter mosquito salivary glands in order to become vectorized.
2. The last case of confirmed "banked donor blood" transmission was in 1994. Tissue transplants still account for a few cases of HIV transmission, but the risk is very, very small.
@rich0292 There is something unique to analsex when it comes to the spread of HIV. As my biology teacher said:"You're not supposed to put such large objects up there" Having analsex, regardless if homo or hetero, comes with the risk of causing tearing of the anus, thereby leading to open wounds. I would say that that, combined with a higher risk of condom breakage during anal sex, carries a higher chance of infection, given that this would provide a way for the HIV virus to enter the bloodstream
@rofljohn23 People defecate fecal matter in sizes which can be far greater than the circumference of a penis. This is why the anal sphincter muscle is suited to be stretched to varying degrees. In short, your "biology teacher" is ignorant. Try asking a medical doctor, you'll get a different answer. It should also be noted that agressive sex can cause tearing of the vagina. Does that mean we shouldn't fuck anybody anywhere?
@Inclousid Great, one points out that there maybe is a risk associated with some behavior and suddenly, I am homophobic(I assume that is what you insinuate in the last two sentences). And before you accuse me of making up having taken some Biology, please go #¤#" yourself. (Continue in next post)
@Inclousid Now, What do you mean with "far greater"? Do you often pass things "far greater" than 4.972 inches in circum? What are you eating?!
One could also bring in constipation, you know, the thing where your fecal matter is hard and hurtful to pass. What is also hurtful if one does not prepare for it? Oh yeah, a human penis tinyurl(dot)com/6rskw9o
@Inclousid Lastly, we should have sex however we want. I don't how you are, who you're fucking and how you do it. Just know that some practices carry risk, so be careful when you do them. So read up on what you're doing. If you cannot agree with that, I donno what to say.
@rofljohn23 Firstly, "one" pointed out there may be risks using false information. Second, the risks they point out equally apply to any body orifice, so why "one" would concentrate on anal intercourse becomes self-evident. Lastly, don't assume that because you're ignorant of medical facts, everyone else is also. There is risk associated with all behavior, but thanks for pointing out one single behavior excluding all others, shows us where your head is at.
Very poor science in saying colonialism and industrialization caused aids. Off course not African culture which is pure and close to nature. You must be a liberal, not that it is not bad, but it does distort your scientific thinking.
@halawishes His point was that the rapid industrialization broke bonds, and made things like prostitution and drug use more common among the african people.
Africans infected the world with AIDS by being gay with each other, and their best solution to the epidemic has been to rape little babies. Meanwhile, the rest of the world has already cured it, although the pharmaceutical companies withhold the treatment until the gay pestilence has been eradicated.
People have been butchering and eating chimps since the beginning of time in Africa, so why did HIV come in existence in the late 20th century? Polio Vacccination campaigns in the exact same areas where HIV was first detected? Polio Vaccines developed from Chimpanzee kidneys? I don't believe in conspiracy theories, i look into conspiracy facts
@luketa666 for a virus to mutate in such a way that it can jump to a completly different species is a rare ocurrence, the HIV virus was just one that got lucky, who knows how many million of mutations had to occur for just ONE virus to make it.. and then to have that person infect another and that other to move to a populated area where it could start spreading, heck there could have been many cases in which it reached humans, but didn't get the chance to infect a lot of people.
i have always hated monkeys especially chimpanzees for no reason.i dont know how to say this but i think i finally found a gooda nice reason to tell every one why i hate chimpanzees
What a fucking shit way of population control, how many does people Aids kill each year? 10,000? by guess is less, the US should have cut the cost of cars if they wanted a better population control. Car crashes alone kill over 40,000 in America.
ABSOLUTELY WE SHOULD NOT “DISCOUNT” ANYTHING; HIV-2 HAS INDEED MORE HOMOLOGY TO SIVSM THAN TO HIV1, INDEED IT IS MOST LIKELY THAT ZOONOSIS WOULD ACCOUNT FOR THE ORIGINS OF HIV-2. HOWEVER IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT MEDICAL SCIENCE HAS YET TO VERIFY ONWARD TRANSMISSION OF HIV-2 IN A WAY THAT PARALLELS HIV-1. THIS SUGGESTS THAT THE EPIDEMIOLOGY OF HIV-2 IS RATHER DIFFERENT FROM HIV-2
MORE THAN ONE MILLION DOSES OF ORAL PV WERE ADMINISTERED IN CONGO. A SINGLE CULTURE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ENOUGH TO PRODUCE THE VOLUME OF VACCINE NECESSARY. UNFORTUNATELY DR KOPROWSKI TELLS US HE HAS LOST HIS LABORATORY NOTES THAT WOULD HAVE CLARIFIED THE PROCEDURES HE USED.
BUT THIS DOES NOT EXCLUDE THE POSSIBILITY THAT TISSUE CULTURES CONTAINING KIDNEYS FROM DIFFERENT ANIMALS COULD NOT HAVE PRODUCED THE CONDITIONS IN WHICH RECOMBINATION WOULD OCCUR TO PRODUCE THE CLADES YOU REFER TO.
We don't need to "discount" anything. We need to find which model is most useful in understanding the emergence of a new disease agent. The fact that all of the earliest cases localize to one region in western Africa, that wild-caught chimps have an SIV closely related to HIV-1, and that an independent subspecies, HIV-2 has more homology to SIVsm than to HIV-1 suggests a high probability of zoonosis.
Keep exploring!, but virologists have good evidence for the current model.
You can go to the LANL (Los Alamos National Lab), which maintains the HIV sequence database. I would search for HIV-1 Clade M, which is a representative specimen.
The sequence I used is one that I had on my hard drive and is not from a public source.
It is still possible to say that the most likely explanation of the different subtypes of HIV1 found in Congo is that the substrate, on which the polio vaccine was amplified in the Congo, provided a perfect nutrient base in which the SIV could recombine to create the subtypes previously referred to. This substrate was made from chopped chimpanzee kidneys, a known source of SIV.
The empirical data is against you. Those cultures were pulled and tested, and found to contain no HIV sequences.
The genetic diversity is against you. The phylogenetics of a single culture is not consistent with the viral clades observed, which show decades of immunoselection. The divergence in sequence of env proteins is not consistent with random drift, but active selection by antigen-specific mechanisms.
The chronology is against you: emergence was staggered, not one-shot.
@C0nc0rdance You state "Those cultures were pulled and tested, and found to contain no HIV sequences." The cultures that were tested are those that remained in the US. The actual vaccines that were used in the Belgian Congo were never tested.
"emergence was staggered, not one-shot." This is certainly not consistent. You make the point that the use of injectable drugs, prostitution and rise of population in those areas led to the transmission of the virus. The polio vaccine was given to almost 2 million people.
It was given to people across Western Africa, not just in Congo. Yet the virus had a point origin, localized to the SIV that most closely matches modern HIV-1. If 2 million people had been injected with a pre-HIV, there would have been multiple simultaneous outbreaks across Africa.
Then, there is the issue of the phylogenetically distinct HIV-2 family....
@C0nc0rdance Let me correct you, the virus did not have such thing as a "point origin". Several samples tested positive in a study related to hepatitis i believe. And many of those samples appeared very close to the various vaccination campaign centers. The OPV theory is serious and I think it should be taken into account and not be thrown away just to defend modern science and medicine. Watch your video "Cargo Cult Science" by Richard Feynman again and think about it.
Let me quote you "emergence was staggered, not one-shot." "Yet the virus had a point origin" ..... With all due respect, i think we need some concordance here :)
Around 2 million people were vaccinated across Western Africa, but the vaccine was not the same. It was preparated with the available tissue in the area in several camps. this is very carefully documented in The River. That's why HIV-2 where Green Moneys were used and HIV-1 were Chimpanzees were the most available species.
@C0nc0rdance In regards to "Never take medical advice from the internet"
Putting aside the irony that the vast majority of your videos are "medical advice from the internet", wouldn't it have been better to say something along the lines of "take medical advice from the internet only if it comes from a reputable website such as Pubmed"?
You misspelled Schierup. Also, please properly cite articles: Mol Biol Evol. 2000 Oct;17(10):1578-9, for example.
This article presents specific bioinformatic criteria for recombination between very closely related viruses. It does not suggest that poliovirus (an enterovirus) and SIV (a lentivirus) are capable of recombining. They have distinctive genomes, life cycles, proteins, and evasion strategies. HIV doesn't represent a recombination of the two in any way.
Scientists like to claim the OPV hypothesis has been disproved, and refer to the molecular clock to as a means of extrapolation back in time using the supposed rate of recombination, to claim that HIV1 existed in the 1930’s well before the first confirmed HIV virus that was collected in Congo in 1959. This is not a reliable procedure and assertions that HIV has been present in human populations in the 1930’s cannot be taken as definitive proof.
Polio vaccines were evaluated in the USA, but Hilary Kowproski’s strain was administered to more than 1million people in Congo (DRC), Albert Sabin’s vaccine was administered to more than 8 million people in the Soviet Union and his vaccine was granted the FDA license to market in the US.
@DannyBruiz - HIV was spread amongs humans in western world originally by gay sex. Back in 70s, Haiti was a resort for gay men where gay men from USA could meet with gay men from Congo for sexual intercourse - later the gay American man returned to USA and spread the disease in gay communities.
Various AIDS documentaries reveal that CDC personnel caught on to this trend and CONFRONTED gay community leaders by asking them to quaranteen their neighborhoods - they didn't cooperate soon enough.
First, both polio vaccines were first evaluated in the USA. They were not introduced to Africa for another 10 years.
It's likely that SIV routinely crossed over to humans. For example, there are two HIV species, HIV-1 and HIV-2, and they are both more closely related to different strains of SIV than to each other.
Why didn't they come to the US prior to 1970s? Because that region of West Africa was not urbanized. It was a small tribal society with little trade or travel.
I'm having to speculate a little, because we can't know exactly what the initial events are, but it seems likely that prostitution, IV drug use, increased international trade and the rise of cities and plantations gave a zoonotic virus a chance to break free from its locality and travel the world.
The movement to the Carribean and North America happened very suddenly, and remained in smaller subset communities for a few years. This is typical of modern zoonotic disease distribution.
Good clip, but still my people got almost wiped out due to biological warfare with smallpox so there are many who know a virus that has been manipulated to suit a purpose. (Read Carl Waldman's Atlas of the North American Indian). A virus can be used in the right conditions and with our good ol' Rh factor, it is not that hard.
Oh yeah don't forget about the Tuskegee Project. Almost 500 dead for trusting the government had their best interest by using vaccines to implement syphilis. SMH!
Lentiviruses, in general, are transferred by blood-blood contact. In cats, for example, the lentivirus Feline Immunodeficiency Virus is transferred by bites. In Equine Infectious Anemia, it's blood meal transfers from certain insects feeding on horses.
The zoonotic event was probably a hunter getting bitten or badly scratched while trapping a monkey or ape. My colleagues who work with NHPs tell me that they are very physically aggressive in captivity.
Poliovirus is unrelated to HIV-1 or HIV-2, which are lentiviruses related to a dozen other lentiviruses (FIV, BIV, SIV, PumaIV, CAEV, EIAV). To turn poliovirus into HIV, you'd need a new set of genes, promoters, IRES, and you'd need to get them from existing lentiviruses, most of which hadn't been discovered in 1950's.
You'd need gene splicing, gene sequencing, and molecular biology techniques invented in the 1990s. We know the evolutionary history of HIV pretty well.
@C0nc0rdanceWhat if the manufactured product polio vaccine was developed from SIV tainted chimpanzee kidneys? Dr. Sabin sent written correspondence to Dr. Koprowski in Leopoldville that a 'virus X' contaminated the sample he sent him, which Dr. Koproski denied. Never the less, perhaps this 'dead-end' vaccine, apparently tested on a million recipients in the Congo, carried a SV40-like contamination that helped SIV jump species?Since there are no samples from that test available, we may never know
I have never seen so many retards on one thread. All of you fucking poofs have no experience in micro-biology. We do not have the ability to make a disease like this today, nor did we 60 fucking years ago. I hate all that you stand for.
@ryb19100 get the fuck out of here your the poof, there is technology today to alter weather patterns, they have technology to make babies in labs and cloning humans and animals they can send robots to space to repair satelites they have the technology to grow organs and you think aids was not man made, go suck a dick you devil worshipping cunt
@northwestlondon1 The tech they use on weather patterns is experimental and very hit and miss. They don't make babies in labs. They can only clone *some* animals. They cannot clone humans (yet). Robots are easy. That shit isn't so complicated; a rocket filled with people requires more complex tech than a repair-bot.
Aids was not "man made".
It is possible that a shadowy elite could've somehow forced it's mutation and infection of humans. But.. why? There are easier ways to get rich.
very well schemed up. especially the part of how it got to america and the caribbean.
you just sound smart but the simple things you cannot explain. how did it travel.
yeah yeah. your fucked. stop your shit. you know full well this desease was created in the lab. if it was around in the 1800s no african would be alive today. the belgium scientist made it.
As the human population gets larger it comes in contact with many viruses from the wild and more easily spread it to other populations. It's natures way of saying there are to many of us.
@C0nc0rdance I'm going to send you a couple links. There are also Books on them too. Aids was injected into "Gays" than in Africa to depopulate the population. America is Evil and Wicked. Wake up. Everything was built on lies and still is. They Elite and Government don't care about us.
It sounds like you are a skeptic of claims made by authorities. Am I right?
Are you being equally skeptical of the people who make the claim that HIV was made by the government? For example, Dr. Cantwell, the man you sent me the link on, is a 77 year old retired dermatologist. Could it be that he, alone, has uncovered the secret truth that no-one else is able to speak about? Possibly.
But there are a lot of other actual virologists who would disagree. How should someone choose?
@HouriBee Houri, do your books include time travel? Because otherwise you'll have to tell us how people with no knowledge of DNA were able to genetically engineer a virus.
I don't usually bother with conspiracy theories, but sometimes the claims are just too f-ing DUMB.
HIV came from the production of the Polio Virus. When scientists developed the Polio vaccine, they used monkey livers. These vaccines were given to Africans to combat the polio virus, but also introduced the HIV virus to the African people.
This is inconsistent with the epidemiology and refuted by testing of those lots of OPV.
If you inject someone with HIV, there is ~90% chance they will be infected. If millions of doses are made in a single batch of vaccine, why aren't there millions of Africans infected simultaneously in the 1960's? When the frozen vaccine lots were tested in 2000, they contained no HIV or SIV.
Why trust an Internet rumor not supported by evidence?
@C0nc0rdance People usually don't show signs of infection for 10 to 25 years. Not everyone is going to get sick at the same time. Scientists did not know what HIV was back then. So how would they know what they were looking for. Or maybe they did know what they were putting in the African people. Who knows. It's not an internet rumor. I got this from a book I read.
Are you talking about "The River" by journalist Edward Hooper? He was inspired by an article he read in Rolling Stone. Controversial ideas sell a lot of books.
As to a 25 year "silent period", that's easy to answer. Pathology specimens are routinely preserved in paraffin. The earliest known HIV specimen is from 1959 in a Kinshasa man. This predates the vaccine. Studies of these pathology blocks show radiating patterns of infection from a Congo point source.
In the absence of treatment, 50% of HIV+ patients progress to AIDS in less than 8 years. The epidemic would have started across Africa, not in certain specific regions. You are suggesting 90% of a population suddenly developing immunosuppression and dying. Easily 900,000 deaths.
I'm sorry to say that those who understand epidemiology do NOT take this unsubstantiated claim seriously. It's not consistent with the evidence.
Not all vaccines ARE made in fertilized chicken embryos. Just those that will replicate in a chicken. Hepatitis A, for example, is made in human fibroblast cell lines. So are smallpox vaccines given to the military, and I received a yellow fever vaccine made in monkey cell lines.
Eggs are cheap, ethically easier than killing animals, and easy to keep sterile. They were in use before OPV.
I remember when AIDS hit my concienceness. It was summer 1985 about the time that Live aid was on. One week I would go out to a nightclub and guarantee getting laid. I was a lifeguard and would meet the girls on the beach then meet them later in the clubs. Then the concert, then the news reports about AIDS hit and no woman would speak to me. If blood was spilled on the floor, people would run screaming from it. Sad. Recently somebody I know went for a test because she touched somebody's saliva.
What I find interesting are the paths that conspiracy theorists don't take. Say blaming Mussolini. There you have a timely invasion of the region that is supported as the origin of HIV, and you have a dictatorship with enough crazy and general disregard for human rights so as to fit a deliberate and malevolent origin so popular with conspiracy theorists.
Did colonialism also make malaria worse in Africa? I think I watched a doc to that effect once.
Do the 'Zoonotic transfers' ...or jumps really occur in other situations too...for example, people have been eating sheep and goat meat all over the world...do we have evidence that the HIV like viruses in those animals make a jump to human hosts ?
In sheep, we have scrapie-->nvCJD, soremouth-orf virus, brucellosis
In goats, we have Q fever, tularemia (sometimes called rabbit fever), Louping-ill virus, psittacosis
In cows, tuberculosis, cowpox-->smallpox, anthrax, hoof and mouth disease
Something simple like influenza makes a good example. It can infect humans, pigs, and chickens. It acquires new traits by recombination in each host, making it more responsive and hard to defeat in populations.
Sex is not very effective at spreading the virus. V-ginal intercourse is perhaps the least effective way of all. Cuts, scratches, needles, blood... those are much more effective. I suspect that heroin, introduced from China and India via European colonialism is what turned a local disease into a global epidemic.
This is only a suspicion, but there are many other such diseases that have been the price of colonialism. Syphilis, for example, may have been a Native American disease.
OPV is highly unlikely. The people who examine the evidence most closely, the professional virologists and researchers, are fairly certain that HIV is a zoonotic (animal-human) transfer. There's a factual case that I'd be happy to explain. It has to do with the way the infection starts in a single specific village, spreads to other areas of Africa, then leaps via travel patterns.
If it were OPV derived, then the infection would already be broadly distributed in the 50's, right?
1. The original lot of OPV vaccine was thawed and tested. No HIV.
2. SIVcpz and HIV-1 are phylogenetically distinct lineages. Distant relations.
3. The epidemiology of HIV-1 and especially -2 in Africa are not supportive of a point-source mass infection. A million people got vaccine. Why would only 20 get sick?
This video is untruthful. There are no documented cases that i know of where the virus has made the jump from human to man. Not by eating monkey or by intercourse or even blood contact. The pygmies in the congo have eaten monkey and lived in close contact with them for decades and while aids was breaking out in the villages around them they were oddly unnaffected. The truth is the CDC accidentally spread it via vaccine by using infected chimp livers to cultivate their vaccine and there is proof
@MembThePenguinII Why bring racism into such a specific topic? This topic is no where near close to have anything to do with color or race or whatever you want to call it. I suggest for your own good, if you were trying to be racist by stating such an ignorant comment, I suggest you do it somewhere else.....maybe where more ignorance is encouraged. Good day sir.
@MembThePenguinII MHM......but i know what u are trying to say.....if u knew your history you would know that Africans were not referred to as "niggers"
I haven't a clue of biology, but I find it very interesting and enlightening to watch videos like yours. Thank you for standing up for facts and proper science.
This is a good video. I had a lecture today about HIV and the professor didn't have a clue as to the origins of HIV even though I kind of expected she would, being a microbiologist. This sort of thing seems to happen too often in the courses I take. Professors are not informed of the "whole story", and are cinsistently much too conservative. I would go so far as to say people of science are some of the most uncritical people of all, when the opposite should be true. At least in my experience...
Medline, the database of medical research journals, contains 20 million papers. There's no way you could ever read them all. So, we scientists specialize in one topic. Mine is lentiviruses.
Most lecturers consider themselves researchers and scholars first, educators second. Your professor may have reacted honestly by saying she didn't know.
The genetic sequences for constructing both the structural protein subunits of the HIV-1 and HIV-2 viruses as well as the genetic sequences for the viruses themselves are found in the Human genome and not in just one location but all over, several different components on several different chromosomes as if they are functional components of human physiology . HIV is a fixed part of the Human genome. We all have it in every cell of our bodies. Why then do you suppose that are we not all sick?
The sequence of proviral HIV-1 is around 9,500 DNA base pairs. That's the size of about 6-8 human genes, all crammed together with overlapping sequences. We don't see the specific sequences of HIV in non-infected people, and we don't see the kind of overlapping gene structure of a lentivirus in functionally active parts of our genome.
There are remnants of other retroviruses, but they do not resemble HIV-1 closely. Not even the same family.
It is a question. A dishonest question would be one that makes an untrue assertion within the question, so assuming that everyone on the planet does not have AIDS then this would be an honest question. There are gene transcripts larger than 9,5000 bp such as the collagen, type IV, alpha 4(COL4A4) at 161,869bp so the size of the genes I do not believe is really an issue. My question leads to something concerning germ line sequence and lentivirus functionality in embryos.
The HIV genome contains 9 overlapping reading frames and encodes 15 proteins in 9.5 kb. You will not find any chromosomal regions with the same functional complexity and density. Viruses evolved to be very compact and multifunctional.
There are virus-like sequences scattered in the genome, but no intact retroviruses. If you have evidence to the contrary, I'd like to know more.
I agree with most of what you say above, although I do not agree that viruses evolved to be compact and multifunctional, I am not here to argue this point, at least not in the comments section. We have mostly been looking at DNA sequences rendered from somatic cells so we are missing something very important, germline sequences relating to maternal immune suppression for embryonic implantation and maybe even EScell differentiation, after which retroviruses would be deactivated.
Do you understand the lentiviral life cycle well? There is an RNA virion step, a DNA provirus, and processes of active transcription factor recruitment, reverse transcription and LTR modification from virion to provirus.
You will not find active lentiviral sequences in the human genome. Fossils, yes, but no living virus. It's trivial to run PCR for the LTR of the virus and come up with no band.
Not sure where you are going with this. You think HIV is endogenous?
people you are on your own!!if you have AIDS tough luck,this motherfuckers will only kill you through yourself. stop having sex,rather masturbate,if you want to have kids,go for a test but dont have sex, masturbate and put the semen in the woman. HIV was made to exterminate black people,but the elite saw that, if they killed all blacks,they wouldnt be racism which they play to remain in power.so be careful
Here is a general rule. Never take a vaccination that was grown in monkey. Vaccinations grown in diseased monkeys are the cause of the AIDs virus and it is now causing cancer to explode. You better do more research, because the facts are out there.

I found out a few weeks ago that two of my friends thought that aids 'spontaneously' formed when two gay men have anal sex, I was really amazed by their stupidity, but I don't think they even properly thought about it. I soon put them to rights though.
rich0292 5 months ago
@rich0292 Sorry to inform you your friends are much smarter than you think. Your the one who was misled somewhere. I can attest to the fact it's a nasty result of unprotected anal sex. Men are too embarrassed to talk about the truth, I'm not. Count your lucky stars!
coolhandkook 1 week ago
@coolhandkook Well it certainly doesn't 'spontaneously' generate as a result of anal sex but perhaps it's more likely to spread by that vector than by conventional sex, either because men in that position feel less need to wear condoms than a conventional couple with the added impetus of possible impregantion or wether there is something unique to anal sex that makes it more likely to transmit. It would explain why gay men arn't allowed to give blood, though I thought that was...
rich0292 1 week ago
@rich0292 It seems to come from male anal sex. That was were it started here in the US in the 70's. As a virus in the blood it can be spread by mosquitos and anyone who has it and has gum disease can spread it through saliva. The US blood supply is tainted because of negative test results. That's been the experience of many.
coolhandkook 6 days ago
@coolhandkook
C0nc0rdance 5 days ago 2
@rich0292 There is something unique to analsex when it comes to the spread of HIV. As my biology teacher said:"You're not supposed to put such large objects up there" Having analsex, regardless if homo or hetero, comes with the risk of causing tearing of the anus, thereby leading to open wounds. I would say that that, combined with a higher risk of condom breakage during anal sex, carries a higher chance of infection, given that this would provide a way for the HIV virus to enter the bloodstream
rofljohn23 5 days ago
@rofljohn23 People defecate fecal matter in sizes which can be far greater than the circumference of a penis. This is why the anal sphincter muscle is suited to be stretched to varying degrees. In short, your "biology teacher" is ignorant. Try asking a medical doctor, you'll get a different answer. It should also be noted that agressive sex can cause tearing of the vagina. Does that mean we shouldn't fuck anybody anywhere?

@luketa666 for a virus to mutate in such a way that it can jump to a completly different species is a rare ocurrence, the HIV virus was just one that got lucky, who knows how many million of mutations had to occur for just ONE virus to make it.. and then to have that person infect another and that other to move to a populated area where it could start spreading, heck there could have been many cases in which it reached humans, but didn't get the chance to infect a lot of people.

Without duplicating the process using infected chimpanzees it is impossible to say that the OPV hypothesis can be discounted.
peterjohn59 8 months ago
@peterjohn59

C0nc0rdance 6 months ago
It is still possible to say that the most likely explanation of the different subtypes of HIV1 found in Congo is that the substrate, on which the polio vaccine was amplified in the Congo, provided a perfect nutrient base in which the SIV could recombine to create the subtypes previously referred to. This substrate was made from chopped chimpanzee kidneys, a known source of SIV.
peterjohn59 8 months ago
@peterjohn59
C0nc0rdance 8 months ago
@C0nc0rdance You state "Those cultures were pulled and tested, and found to contain no HIV sequences." The cultures that were tested are those that remained in the US. The actual vaccines that were used in the Belgian Congo were never tested.
luketa666 7 months ago
"emergence was staggered, not one-shot." This is certainly not consistent. You make the point that the use of injectable drugs, prostitution and rise of population in those areas led to the transmission of the virus. The polio vaccine was given to almost 2 million people.
luketa666 7 months ago
@luketa666
C0nc0rdance 7 months ago
@C0nc0rdance Let me correct you, the virus did not have such thing as a "point origin". Several samples tested positive in a study related to hepatitis i believe. And many of those samples appeared very close to the various vaccination campaign centers. The OPV theory is serious and I think it should be taken into account and not be thrown away just to defend modern science and medicine. Watch your video "Cargo Cult Science" by Richard Feynman again and think about it.
luketa666 7 months ago
Let me quote you "emergence was staggered, not one-shot." "Yet the virus had a point origin" ..... With all due respect, i think we need some concordance here :)
luketa666 7 months ago
Around 2 million people were vaccinated across Western Africa, but the vaccine was not the same. It was preparated with the available tissue in the area in several camps. this is very carefully documented in The River. That's why HIV-2 where Green Moneys were used and HIV-1 were Chimpanzees were the most available species.

Mikkel Scheirup’s paper “Recombination & phylogenetic analysis of HIV-1 is an authoritative account of why this is so.
peterjohn59 8 months ago
@peterjohn59
C0nc0rdance 8 months ago 2
Scientists like to claim the OPV hypothesis has been disproved, and refer to the molecular clock to as a means of extrapolation back in time using the supposed rate of recombination, to claim that HIV1 existed in the 1930’s well before the first confirmed HIV virus that was collected in Congo in 1959. This is not a reliable procedure and assertions that HIV has been present in human populations in the 1930’s cannot be taken as definitive proof.
peterjohn59 8 months ago
@peterjohn59 True. HIV detections before 1959 are not hard science based.

You still don't explain how AIDS was transfered from Monkeys to Humans.
People have been eating Monkeys for centuries.
So how did AIDS suddenly appear in the 70;s?
As far as why the African major spread of AIDS is because Africans were the test population for Polio vaccinations and Hepititas B tests...
DannyBruiz 9 months ago
@DannyBruiz - HIV was spread amongs humans in western world originally by gay sex. Back in 70s, Haiti was a resort for gay men where gay men from USA could meet with gay men from Congo for sexual intercourse - later the gay American man returned to USA and spread the disease in gay communities.
Various AIDS documentaries reveal that CDC personnel caught on to this trend and CONFRONTED gay community leaders by asking them to quaranteen their neighborhoods - they didn't cooperate soon enough.
konman001 9 months ago
@DannyBruiz
C0nc0rdance 9 months ago
I'm having to speculate a little, because we can't know exactly what the initial events are, but it seems likely that prostitution, IV drug use, increased international trade and the rise of cities and plantations gave a zoonotic virus a chance to break free from its locality and travel the world.
The movement to the Carribean and North America happened very suddenly, and remained in smaller subset communities for a few years. This is typical of modern zoonotic disease distribution.
C0nc0rdance 9 months ago
@C0nc0rdance
I can understand the fast spread because of promiscuity and population movement at a rapid pace.
Still, The Green Monkey as the source of HIV still seems a little nebulous...

@myopiaa
C0nc0rdance 11 months ago
@myopiaa

HIV came from the production of the Polio Virus. When scientists developed the Polio vaccine, they used monkey livers. These vaccines were given to Africans to combat the polio virus, but also introduced the HIV virus to the African people.
southboy99 1 year ago
@southboy99
C0nc0rdance 1 year ago
@C0nc0rdance People usually don't show signs of infection for 10 to 25 years. Not everyone is going to get sick at the same time. Scientists did not know what HIV was back then. So how would they know what they were looking for. Or maybe they did know what they were putting in the African people. Who knows. It's not an internet rumor. I got this from a book I read.
southboy99 1 year ago
@southboy99
C0nc0rdance 1 year ago
@southboy99
C0nc0rdance 1 year ago
@C0nc0rdance This is why now scientists use chicken eggs to cultivate vaccines for a virus.
southboy99 1 year ago
@southboy99

Do the 'Zoonotic transfers' ...or jumps really occur in other situations too...for example, people have been eating sheep and goat meat all over the world...do we have evidence that the HIV like viruses in those animals make a jump to human hosts ?
dahabfin 1 year ago
@dahabfin
Yes.

Are black people responsible for aids/HIV or are the natives
tahmid4777 1 year ago
@tahmid4777
According to science SIV is responsible for HIV.
Bacteria are organisms too. They evolve through natural selection just like the rest of us.

C0nc0rdance 1 year ago
@mddarch2
C0nc0rdance 1 year ago
@C0nc0rdance Thats incorrect, it was spread by the Polio vaccine

Do you value evidence?
Please refer to published evidence in:
Nature. 2000 Sep 14;407(6801):117.
Nature. 2004 Apr 22;428(6985):820.

HIV originates from Africa, right?

I haven't a clue of biology, but I find it very interesting and enlightening to watch videos like yours. Thank you for standing up for facts and proper science.

This is a good video. I had a lecture today about HIV and the professor didn't have a clue as to the origins of HIV even though I kind of expected she would, being a microbiologist. This sort of thing seems to happen too often in the courses I take. Professors are not informed of the "whole story", and are cinsistently much too conservative. I would go so far as to say people of science are some of the most uncritical people of all, when the opposite should be true. At least in my experience...
Soldier957 1 year ago
@Soldier957
C0nc0rdance 1 year ago 3
The genetic sequences for constructing both the structural protein subunits of the HIV-1 and HIV-2 viruses as well as the genetic sequences for the viruses themselves are found in the Human genome and not in just one location but all over, several different components on several different chromosomes as if they are functional components of human physiology . HIV is a fixed part of the Human genome. We all have it in every cell of our bodies. Why then do you suppose that are we not all sick?
hugenex2000 1 year ago
@hugenex2000
Is this an honest question?
The sequence of proviral HIV-1 is around 9,500 DNA base pairs. That's the size of about 6-8 human genes, all crammed together with overlapping sequences. We don't see the specific sequences of HIV in non-infected people, and we don't see the kind of overlapping gene structure of a lentivirus in functionally active parts of our genome.
There are remnants of other retroviruses, but they do not resemble HIV-1 closely. Not even the same family.
C0nc0rdance 1 year ago
@C0nc0rdance
My question leads to something concerning germ line sequence and lentivirus functionality in embryos.
hugenex2000 1 year ago
@hugenex2000
I just wanted to make sure you wanted an answer.
C0nc0rdance 1 year ago
@C0nc0rdance
I agree with most of what you say above, although I do not agree that viruses evolved to be compact and multifunctional, I am not here to argue this point, at least not in the comments section. We have mostly been looking at DNA sequences rendered from somatic cells so we are missing something very important, germline sequences relating to maternal immune suppression for embryonic implantation and maybe even EScell differentiation, after which retroviruses would be deactivated.
hugenex2000 1 year ago
@hugenex2000
