@slammed78chevy They HAVE to have more torque and HP than a smogged out 76 Vette motor!! LOL!! I ended up buying one...a 454 that's bored .030 over, with a mild RV cam, and it's getting ready to be dropped in the Vette this month. I'll let you know how it runs!!

Just out of curiosity, how does your engine do for acceleration? I just got a 454 out of an 85 Chevy 1-ton, and I'm thinking of putting it in my 76 Corvette project. Would it make the Vette get up and go? At what rpm does yours start to flatten out...4500? My buddy is telling me that the 80's 454s are junk, with low HP, but big torque...and he thinks I'd be wasting my time and money. What would you say to that? Thanks!

oh yeah there aint nothing like a 454 in one of those! i have a 1983 gmc cierra 454 4 barrel with duel glass packs with an actual only 82,000 miles and its such a sweet running and driving truck. mine is two door cab version dressed up with the crome sun visor and airfoil. it has the custom running deck running from the doors to tha fenders. with the xtra lights all round. at night it looks like a christmas tree. no vids on it yet, but if u want to see it you can check out my 1950 chevy.

Not bad my fellow dually owning friend. I love my 87 crew cab. I'm in the process of giving it a few performance upgrades. The smog stuff is killing the performance. So to improve while keeping it in place is a challenge, I will still find success I'm sure.
