i'lll give props to european music for sure. But you can find atleast some combareble american music. The Cruxshadows for instance. Granted they are more gothic the further back you go and more darkwave and pop as you get to their more recent stuff.

European metal and goth rock has a soul. It is its own unique voice to speak of whatever message the band wants to send. They have their own signature, and their own style within a style to not just be a part of a mainstreamed genre, but be a genre on their own, as well. IN AMERICA? All metal and goth rock bands go by a simple standard 'recipe'. If you listen carefully you can clearly hear that several components of the songs are identical, but with enough difference to not sound the same.
funny how this band is so epic and is NOT either british or american-as is true with many artists... they are so brilliant... un polluted by boring song patterns such as the ones used here in britain and america...

@skateskate09 No. Big bands in NA are too mainstream or sth. In Europe metal is more complex, requires more techniques, needs more passion, focuses more on the sound, not the look of the singer. So it's not everyone's cup of tea. Classical, metal, all kinds of true music come from Europe.

You call this mainstream but I would call this a successful band that was able to advance because their songs and albums had quality that people found attractive. Maybe, but the fact is that metal culture is spread on whole Scandinavia. Americans have their MTV and similar shits, while Scandinavians send metal bands even on Eurovision. It doesn't mean that Americans can't make good metal music, but Europeans have conditions for making it.
wasn't the forming of metal first from the lands of them. a lot of the worlds knowledge is from the land they now live on. and yes it is more pagan in truth the words are more truthful than most music i like it and, yes i agree genre of the own the have original sound not just recorded to make money that is why it has more truth in it.

This singer is fucking awful :/ Her voice is not gothic, and songs of Sirenia from times with her are more pop than gothic. Listen to this! I don't believe it is Sirenia! It sounds...like Within Temptation. The best times of Sirenia is Voices Within, Meridian, Lithium and the lovers...I can't stand listenig her voice
@Vattghern1 Ehh. To each their own. I tried giving Within Temptation a chance, but in the end, I just couldn't stomach it. Sirenia, on the other hand, was love at first hear, with both singers, though I do agree that the former singer was better. Her voice was beautiful... etherial. I like this one's voice, too, but not near as much. I think that most peoples' problem with the new Sirenia is that it's become comercialized, though there are those who just don't like her voice, for sure.
@13ShadowsintheGrave I think that Sirenia was one of the best gothic(whatever you want metal/rock I don't care) band. The best parts are when the man sings not a woman. He has awesome growl.
@Vattghern1 He does, but the whole growl thing on it's own has been massively overdone in metal. I think the best ones where the older songs when the man and woman did the whole "beauty-and-the-beast" style duet, with the man growling and the woman singing beautifully in metal duet. That's my oppinion.

Make room for better bands. Since everyone is downloading everything there is no money for record companies to take risks and bringing in fresh bands. Soon only this mainstream shit will come from the metal scene. Some bands actually write material that hasn't already been written 100000 times.

@RealityChickRCRU That is a very lopsided opinion to take. If a band is good, then we spend money on them. Regardless of mainstream or not, a band that is good and produces hits will survive. You call this mainstream but I would call this a successful band that was able to advance because their songs and albums had quality that people found attractive. Just because it does not appeal to you don't mean it is mainstream bullcrap. It means you do not like them, which is your opinion, not the truth.

Maybe, but the fact is that metal culture is spread on whole Scandinavia. Americans have their MTV and similar shits, while Scandinavians send metal bands even on Eurovision. It doesn't mean that Americans can't make good metal music, but Europeans have conditions for making it.

wasn't the forming of metal first from the lands of them. a lot of the worlds knowledge is from the land they now live on. and yes it is more pagan in truth the words are more truthful than most music i like it and, yes i agree genre of the own the have original sound not just recorded to make money that is why it has more truth in it.

If you actually listen to the words of thier music, it is not gothic OR emo. It is inspired by the old beliefs. They deserve a Metal Genre all thier own. Phenomenal work from any band.

This singer is fucking awful :/ Her voice is not gothic, and songs of Sirenia from times with her are more pop than gothic. Listen to this! I don't believe it is Sirenia! It sounds...like Within Temptation. The best times of Sirenia is Voices Within, Meridian, Lithium and the lovers...I can't stand listenig her voice

@Vattghern1 Ehh. To each their own. I tried giving Within Temptation a chance, but in the end, I just couldn't stomach it. Sirenia, on the other hand, was love at first hear, with both singers, though I do agree that the former singer was better. Her voice was beautiful... etherial. I like this one's voice, too, but not near as much. I think that most peoples' problem with the new Sirenia is that it's become comercialized, though there are those who just don't like her voice, for sure.

@Vattghern1 He does, but the whole growl thing on it's own has been massively overdone in metal. I think the best ones where the older songs when the man and woman did the whole "beauty-and-the-beast" style duet, with the man growling and the woman singing beautifully in metal duet. That's my oppinion.
