  • Thom does incredibly well to keep in time clicking with that poppy drum thing at the begining ;) very clever song in the payin attention it has 5 bars then repeats whereas usual bands would use 4 genius as the song is called 2+2=5

  • I skipped porn for this.

  • lol thoms voice here sounds so funny but epic at the same time.

2:43 he yells at it like... I can't describe it xD

  • @FaggotsFreaksFools This is one of their most vocally-intensive songs, and Thom has never really been known for being a great live singer.

  • I'm pretty sure this refers to the book 1984 by George Orwell but maybe I'm not that sure

  • @NoMoreCheeses It does

  • Ed does such a great job on that harmony.

  • All hail the great Radiohead.

  • Stop censorship, Stop ACTA!

  • Maybe not

  • Go to youtube.com/watch?v=Xjejiyx1vvY if you want to see the whole concert

  • I WANT TO SEE THIS FULL CONCERT! Anyone know if it's available somewhere? I can't even imagine what it would've been like if I had the internet in the late seventies and early eighties when I was still in high school. OOPS, I let my age out. That's ok. I will be sitting in my rocking chair in my 80s rocking out to some awesome music like this! FUCK YEAH!

  • @piperjo99

    Go to youtube.com/watch?v=Xjejiyx1vvY

  • why is smashing pumpkins on the suggetions list

  • damn ya!

  • bueno para q entremos en ambiente bien afinadito como yo mi fafis para cantar jajajaja

  • any band would give they'r balls for just one greenwood, any of them, and radiohead got two.

  • 0:18 how is it even possible to clap so off-beat?

  • @nge1301 i don't really know whether you have a lot of musical knowledge, so i'll explain assuming you don't.

The first part of this song has an unusual 7/8 beat. It means in basic terms that you must count to 7 and then return to 1 at a certain (fast) speed. People were clapping every 2 "numbers", in a 4/4 beat. Basically they were off-beat because the song "beat count" returned to 1 everytime the people's "beat count" reached 3.5. Was that clear enough? :P

  • @Gottheit2008 I think you completely missed the point. It was a rhetorical question.

  • @VisitorCz not really, doesn't seem like one. I was just trying to explain.

  • @Gottheit2008 nah dude, I know that the song is in 7/8

but the people were clapping in every beat, so its irrelevant if the song is in 7/8, they were just off beat

just take 1:25 as an example. that part is in 4/4, and they were still off beat.

  • @nge1301 ok i admit i only took the intro in consideration. And sorry to insist on it again, but the people weren't clapping in every beat in the intro. They were clapping every 2 beats, which puts them off-beat every other turn.

  • @Gottheit2008 but they were clapping on every beat!

it doesnt seem like it (because its so off beat), but if you see in the beginning, thom snaps his fingers in every beat and the crowd follows it.

they start to fuck up at 0:16

  • @nge1301 the problem in this discussion is the following: I say (with 100% belief) that they are clapping on every other beat, you say it's in every beat. I suggest that you count the actual beats at twice the speed.

  • @Gottheit2008 ok, at 0:05, I'm sure you'd agree with me that Thom is snapping his fingers in every beat, right? And the crowd is following him, clapping on every beat, right?

Just to make sure we're on the same page here, Jonnys Guitar is playing 2 notes a beat.

  • @nge1301 @nge1301 that's the problem! Thom isn't snapping in every beat! He is snapping in beats 1, 3, 5, 7, 2, 4, 6, 1, 3, ... and that is why the clapping goes off-beat. I accept that it is absolutely normal for crowds to speed up the clapping and go off-beat but I sincerely believe that this isn't the case. For you to understand exactly how I believe (with a lot of confidence) that the metronome for this song is, go to Webmetronome . com and set 150 bpm, 7 beats p/cycle, accent on 1

  • @Gottheit2008 do you agree that Thom is snapping his fingers in 150bpm? because that's what he's doing. And, like you said, the intro is in 150bpm, 7/8.

  • @nge1301 i tried to count to 7 at the rhythm thom is snapping and well.. it does work! :P what I did was always counting at twice the speed and it always worked (14-beat in this case) i admit, you're right xD still, i'm not yet sure which speed fits best, thom's 7-beat or twice as much.

  • energy-boom at 1.52

  • is it really so hard to clap along in time?!

  • i want to slap the person who disliked this over and over again until the skin on my hands starts to rub off from the endless friction

  • at the end of such an interpretation one should always leave the 5-7 seconds where the people scream like crazy. even after a video this song needs to be properly acclaimed!

  • Shit! Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead on the same festival... I think i will have a heart attack right now :O

  • 1:50

    how fuckin brilliant is that!!

  • Greenwood.

  • @MadeHaste

    Greenwood x 2.

  • I like how Thom uses like a million guitars at every show but Jonny just sticks with his trusty Telecaster.

  • omg I love how you can hear the crowd singing amazing

  • I hope they this when they tour in 2012

  • flawless musicians.

  • Romania wants you.

  • just amazing.. come to Ecuador!!

  • This is definitely one of the most banging songs ever.

  • Ooo bass-y.

  • 2:43 - 2:46 Terrance and Phillip :)

  • @breachmania LMAO

  • @breachmania HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! Perfect, man!!!!

  • I've missed the chance to see White Stripes and LCD Soundsystem live. I must not make the same mistake with Radiohead.

  • Whenever I search my favorite Radiohead songs live I always end up at this concert.

  • .... Music of masters, dude.

  • am I the only one who almost cried to this ? just so fuckin indescribable

  • I love when he says "because."

  • Un fuckin belivable!!! Please Radiohead, come to Romania!

  • phil is the most calm laid back drummer in rock history

  • 2+5=5 is the greatest thing they've ever done.

  • @jamescfc1 really?

It's a good live song but personally I think far from their best.

  • My balls just dropped.

  • @AreaCode978 Youplaboum !

  • Holly shit I´m in love ! :D

  • 180 - 0

    Radiohead wins

  • @ODOOnik 220 - 0. Radiohead wins! Flawless victory!

  • shat myself as well just now.

  • just myself too.

  • why the fuck is oasis in the suggestions?!

  • @dharlem40 haha best comment ive seen in ages- radiohead and oasis are my two favourite bands of all time- very different though.

  • Flawless show by radiohead. It's well annoying how the crowd are all clapping so out of time though with the song.

  • @Panttts sound travels slow.

  • I wake up to hail to the thief playing every morning; sometimes i lie in bed and listen instead of getting up and being part of a world about to crumble

    We Plants are Happy Plants

  • They really ARE from another planet !

  • @NahuelEncina mm en realidad si se solo quise comentar desde un aspecto literario y no metaforico ... SI SE DE QUE SE TRATA ... no me vengas a tachar de ignorante

  • for those unfamiliar with Radiohead's live work - don't take too much from the Reading performance...it was pretty bad by Radiohead standards...Thom sounded off and there were quite a few sloppy bits from the band and technical glitches. I'm not being a douche - I just hope people know that there are many many better gigs out there to watch :)

  • @TehWinnerz Better gigs such as?

  • @villiparis Earl's Court 2003 - the 2nd night ---google ronald vdberg Radiohead for his recordings site and find the show - its the one that starts with There There/2+2=5/Sit Down, Stand Up...etc. Its AMAZING!

and Glasto '03. There are loads more but I can't think off the top of my head right now

  • @TehWinnerz But what if you want them to play tracks from In Rainbows?

  • @villiparis some of the 2006 gigs were great...and some of the 2009 gigs were good...Prague was good...why not head over to atease and ask around? :)

  • @TehWinnerz I'm not so sure. A few of the songs that they didn't upload were fucking especially great. Nude was great and Climbing up the Walls blew the fucking house down!

  • @MilesG102 sure, I'm not denying that there might have been good moments, but on a whole it wasn't great................

  • @TehWinnerz yea i actually agree with you.

I don't know if thom was quite drunk or something but he wasn't really at his best. I mean he seemed to be giving it all but didn't sound as good as he can.

  • ALL HAIL TO THE THIEF, ALL HAIL TO THE THIEF!

  • Terrific bass on this performance.

  • I was there.. 1:49 was the most amazing moment because while seeing them, there are no dickheads moshing or anything, just people loving the music, every movement reflecting the mood: swaying for "Everything in its right place", singing along with arms in the air for "Karma Police" and here, in unison, after swaying for the beginning of the song, everyone erupted into a pogoing mass, screaming "YOU HAVE NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION!"

We think the same things at the same time.

  • Thom's singing was terrible xD

  • si radiohead dice que 2+2 =5 ...

PUES ES VERDAD NO ME JODAS PROFESOR !

    :D

  • Does anyone know where I can download this entire gig?

  • 2+2=5 ...........maths.......the radiohead way

  • What I love almost as much as this band/album/song/live video is how the audience slowly collectively gives up clapping at the odd time section at the beginning xD

  • @JCGronewold hahahaha welll the ppl standin still sucks... if i was there.. it would b bunny jump everywhere... "payin attention.. payin attention..... yeeeaahhhhh"

  • it was really wierd in the crowd. half the people were going mental, jumping all over the place and half were standing perfectly still with their jaws dropped. in awe.

  • ,,Radio . ." and NoT only ,,...Head" :D :D :D

  • ...Anyone else find Thom's singing to be.. just a tiny bit off?

  • 2 + 2 doesnt equal 5 tho?!??!!? so....

  • @fbocfbocfboc ...I seriously hope you're.. not serious.

    Ever read 1984? >_>.

  • @fbocfbocfboc There's a formula that works mathmatically to make 2+2=5. Hell reject the viewpoint that 2 stands for "two" the "defined" term....and it can equal dog.

  • too true. I remember i was like 13when i first heard this song and didn't know why they named the song that lol

  • @fbocfbocfboc thats why I stay home forever.... where always my rules.

  • Love it

  • Love it

  • Jonny Greenwood = Musical Genius

  • good recovery there

  • anyone else catch the tiny mistake ed made at 1:19?? gasp!

  • @futurfry it was jonny who made the mistake...

  • @Radiofett oh yeah i thought ed was doing the triplets, excuse me

  • Comment removed

  • amazing.

  • most front-men have to clap their hands to get the crowd to follow suit. thom just clicks his fingers, amazing.

  • @barnabyfox n u coudn't jump u'r ass for you're live could ya??

shittiest crowd ever for this song

if i ever get to see them live i would destroy my legs and my throat

  • this is just beautiful

  • certainly dont look like my jazz son but fuck best gig ive ever been to!

  • I love the camera angle at 2:19 - 2:22

  • aah i was there!! they've really captured the atmosphere well there

  • One of my favourite songs...amazing feeling when they played it live! I was about 10 rows from the front. Awesome.

  • brilliant but the guitars sounds better in the older performances

  • Hmm maybe its because thom used a telecaster in the earlier days. Like they would have the triforce of telecasters with Jonny, Ed and him

  • @ernieballsting hmm probably

what guitar is Thom using in this performance ?

    jazzmaster ?

  • kaisqais, its definitely not a fender jazzmaster. i think its a gibson es 375 or es 345, i'm not 100% sure because i'm no gibson guy, i'm a fender guy HAHA

  • @ernieballsting

haha apologize for my lack of knowledge

am an acoustic guitar player o i don't lots about the electrics

  • excelente!!!!
