That would make an amazing Zelda game.

At the beginning, Link, the great hero (adult) has a son. he trains his son to be a great swordsman like himself so that one day the boy would be able to walk in his footsteps. Then, Link, and the mother of the boy are kidnapped, and their village is burned. The young child, with his parent gone forever, journeys across the land with hope for finding what can't be found.

0:54 is where link takes his first step as a child, and from there it shows him growing up while being trained by his father to use a sword

1:50, his home gets burned and everyone (including his family) gets captured by evil beasts. Link sets out on a grand journey in hopes of finding them.

He does get a mirror shield in Minish Cap. It's just that it's an end-of-game bonus from the Biggoron who asks to see 'something impressive' and is hence COMPLETELY USELESS because you've already beaten the game. Oh, and you also have to do a kinstone sequence before this, too. In the end of the day, it's 100% 'not worth it' unless you're looking for 100% completion.

Wind Waker was my first and favorite Zelda game. I sucked at first, going to youtube every 2 seconds cuz I got stuck often and also cuz I sucked at it. But now I'm awesome at Zelda games, lol. But man I had soo many memories wit Wind Waker, and now after a year since I beat it. I'm now on my second playthrough. i really dont know why nintendo wants to dumb down the zelda franchise. this is one of the best video game dynasties in all of history, and they want to make it play out like a movie. there are other ways of making a difficult game accessible for older adults then to just let it play automatically.
