I agree that this was not necessarily a case of "cyber-bullying". This an invasion of privacy with a very unfortunate end result. Now if this young man was taunted and ridiculed via the internet (Twitter, FB, etc.), that would obviously be "cyber-bullying". I think this was more of a case of embarrassment and rejection. So sad.
Amen JuRY. This is not cyberbullying. Now if the people chanted kill yourself or started harassing him that would be different. Though I think some privacy should be expected in his dorm room...
This depends on the definition of cyber bullying. Is it bullying that could only be done on the internet, or is it just bullying that takes place via the internet? Plus didn't this turn into an IRL issue? Because if it was just online, theres a wonderful thing that is called the block button! People need to learn to use it more!
the media loves a good scapegoat, and what could be better than the nameless/ faceless internet. the offenses in this case are serious, but nowhere near as insidious as others (Jessi Slaughter incident for example).
In the world we live in, it's almost impossible to do anything without somehow using a computer. So I think it's kinda important to not paint these incidents with such broad brush. Shame on you, media.
I like the topical commentary. If you feel strongly about a topic and want to have an adult, sit-down conversation with YouTube... go for it, Dude.
