  • plz tel me how to rotate camera

  • @sreesudha63 ... WHAT? The camera rotates depending on the orientation of the phone...

  • with x10i i can?

  • @notesmemo Can what?

You can flash any firmware onto any phone.

    v2.3 is out already.

    Wolf's firmware: /watch?v=zHBYJW2verg&hd=1

    Flashing: /watch?v=HmX-IYNYqL8&hd=1

    Wotan Flashing: /watch?v=ZQIw608rZfI&hd=1

  • will this work on my MID android tab 1.6???

  • @jhoespuerkid No. Firmwares are specific to individual models. Find your device on XDA, if it even exists.

  • I have a problem with my Sony Ericsson Xperia x10. When I tried to turn on my phone it turned on normally but then when I pressed the home key to wake it up, nothing happened and then it restarted itself. it's working like normal now but now i can't access any of my market apps like angry birds or google earth. Please help

  • @LeopardGeckoTree Do you have data? Is 3G setup? (Is your carrier's APN setup?) Does WiFi work?

  • Hey! I just did the Flashing to put in the 2.1 Android, but it´s in a Loop... The Sony Logo keeps popping in and fading, in and fading, and so forth... it hasnt started yet... What can I do?

  • @nolentiendo Flash it again, or upgrade directly to v2.3: /watch?v=zHBYJW2verg

Or use Update Service to repair.

  • worked perfectly fine. Thanks...

  • I have a Xperia X10i. I don't have any idea what to do. I follow the steps at PC Companion. Those 5 steps at "prepare" won't work. The last one with the Back-key. When I hold the Back-key while I plug the USB-cable in to the phone. It doesn't do anything. I still have the 1.6

  • @DonRacio This video is obsolete, as stated in the description. It also sounds like you don't have BOTH Sony applications installed. Your phone must be OFF before plugging in.

  • @BluechipJ I have them both. And my phone is OFF when I plug the USB-cable in. I just keep holding that button untill the phone turns on from itself. Do I have to try on another PC ?

  • @DonRacio watch?v=pAM439T4X5o Does that work?

If your computer isn't picking up the phone, something's wrong with it.

  • I've been watching your videos since your videos are the only reliable ones out there. But whenever I visit the xda forums, they're so many links that they begin to confuse me. I have no clue what I'm doing so I'm pretty much just copying what you do in your videos. Also on the forum there's 3 links for the x10a firmware, how do I know which one is which? Sorry for being a pain in the ass!

  • @namedleslie Watch a more recent video: /watch?v=NIC9uN_0syg

Flash the firmware with the highest number:

    2.1.A.0.435 > 2.0.2.A.0.24 > 2.0.A.0.504

    2.1 > 2.0 > 2.0

  • So I just read right now that ATT update is not available. Is this the other legit way to upgrade your ATT X10 (American phone) to 2.1?

  • @namedleslie AT&T discontinued support for the X10 in March before the rollout of 2.1 was complete. It went out in phases across different regions.

So no, there is no "legit" way of updating to 2.1 on AT&T.

That said, people have been doing it since October 2010 using the command line and graphical tools.

  • @BluechipJ Okay cool!! As long as I follow every step I should be good then. Also just one more question, what's the point of rooting the phone?

  • @namedleslie Watch a more recent video. The tool has been updated since then, but I haven't had time to make another video. Rooting allows you to modify the system (animations, themes, etc.) as well as run system-level apps (screenshot, DNS editor, Titanium Backup to remove system apps, etc.)

    /watch?v=NIC9uN_0syg&hd=1

  • Here's a totally off-the-wall question: Is there a way to change a phone's OS? Example: change OS mkt6235 to Android 2.2. Thanks.

  • @1695starman There are 2.2 and 2.3 ROMs already. Sony Ericsson is releasing an official 2.3 ROM in July.

  • @BluechipJ I think you misunderstood my question. I don't want to upgrade my Xperia, I want to change the OS on a different phone. The phone I will be getting has mkt3235. I want Android 2,2. Is there a way to do that?

  • @1695starman You're using the wrong terms so I have no idea what you're talking about. I also have no idea what mkt3235 is. If it isn't an X10, you'll have to go to go to XDA and find the appropriate forum.

  • Has anyone figured out what happened to z4root?

  • @1695starman It's obsolete. Use SuperOneClick. It's in the other videos.

  • isnt this shit illegal?

  • @AJ41069 No. Google "rooting legal".

  • @BluechipJ oh ok

  • after watching your video and upgrading my x10a to 2.1, i cannot send text beyond 160 characters. I researched and found out this was a common prob with 2.1 update on the x10i..do you have ideas on a resolution?

  • Nice video, excellent tutorial. Question: I have an AT&T Xperia X10a with AT&T 1.6 Android. Following this tutorial, can I upgrade it to 2.1? or is it only for Rogers?

  • @blackyninoshka You can flash any X10 to 2.1. However, this video is obsolete. /watch?v=NIC9uN_0syg&hd=1

  • what do you meen when you say unzip everything

  • what are you talking about when you say unzip everything?

  • How long do you hold the back button down while it downloads?

  • @iknowimreal You don't hold it while it flashes, only to connect it in flash mode. I suggest you watch the video again and pay more attention.

  • does any one know how i could do this to my att phone?):

  • @soccerdreams23 Watch the other videos.

  • @BluechipJ What other videos? I cant find any that tell people how to upgrade with an at&t phone...

  • @SamuraiGirlz I've got 4 other videos showing how to use the graphical flash tool to update.

e.g. "Updating the Xperia X10 to v2.1.1 (Update 1) & Rooting Using SuperOneClick"

"Flashing Android 2.1 onto the Xperia X10 Using Bin4ry's Graphical Flash Tool"

    and others.

If you can't figure out how to view a user's other videos on YouTube, you probably shouldn't be updating your phone to begin with.

  • can i use garmin asus garminfone please write back please

  • @boring45ful No.

  • sorry bud .. but you completely lost me after you explained what type of phone it was , and that you had it plugged into the computer ... from there you shifted into 5th gear, and were speaking japanese , you were talking so fast i could not even tell what you were saying about prompts , and why , and what tool , ... what huh .. what , why ... huh ... what .....if you could go slow and tell up front want all apps are needed to already have downloaded to your phone to do this ..

  • @kfields82 This video is 2 months old. Use the graphical flash tool.

  • opps sorry heres the rest: firmware for andriod 1.6 on att?

  • @creyno87 XDA-Developers, but I haven't tested the 1.6s. Should be thread #683793.

  • @creyno87 how can I do that on my macbook pro

  • hey man do you have any idea on where to or how to get the offical

  • this isnt working at all, i have a 64 bit system running all my programs including java, when i uninstalled java and installed the 32 bit version it comes out with a java cmd is unrecognizable. so i dont know how to make this work read your comments but there's still no clear way to make it work. even in 64 bit mode it comes with another error that it cant run a 32 bit .dll on a 64 chipset.

  • @alexthetheif Use the graphical flash tool: watch?v=wacg-dsx9ew It comes with Java.

Either you're not disabling User Account Control/Running as Administrator or the drivers aren't installed, as required.

  • GUess u cant update x10 on at&t

  • @boothracing03 Why would you get that idea???

Bin4ry's Graphical Flash tool. Watch the latest video: wacg-dsx9ew

  • @boothracing03 I live in a podunk, boondock town in the US and have at&t, and it still worked (check other video, where he shows u how to do it using the graphical flash tool, not this video). It took a few times, but it finally worked...just be sure u get ur fone in flash mode through the se update service (its all in the other video, u can see exactly what he downloads) so it doesnt matter where u live, or service provider, it will ALWAYS work, if not theres a step ur missing

  • IT FUUUUUCKIN WOOOOORKED!!!!!!! TYTYTYTYTYTY!!!!! SRY FER BLOWIN UP UR WALL.....UR THE SHIT!!! AHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!

  • to run YOUR flash pkg, u have to run 32 bit- i have 64 bt win7...do i have to re-configure, and reinstall my entire os?....pass...

  • @psykosaia Either you can't read... or you just don't pay attention.

It works on ANY OS. Hence the 4 options. 32/64-bit Windows XP, 32/64-bit Vista/7.

    It also comes with Java.

  • u can just download it through Sony Ericsson PC Companion instead of putting ur phone at rist

  • @AnimeFanBadAsS not on at&t... yet.

  • @testuser564 its alrdy out, for x10i so its international, u can alrdy download it

  • @AnimeFanBadAsS at&t got the update from sony but they are holding it back to modify it, so they wont release it till Q1 of 2011 ive heard, the only way i could get the update was by flashing it.

  • @testuser564 same with mine, its not availabe from my provider, yet i got it with no problems

  • ok, blank screen....flashed it, and now i have a blank screen

for an hour now, it keeps blinking, but still blank, did this break my phone?

  • @psykosaia If you're flashing to v2.1, you should be using the graphical flasher.

You can't brick the X10. If it didn't load a firmware properly, put it into flash mode and flash again.

The v1.6i has an issue. I'm trying to fix it.

  • few questions before i start...first, exactly which files do i download from xda? i have the super one click bundle, rogers 2.1, and flash tool release...what else do i need? do i have the right downloads?, its hard to read ur screen in the video...also, the files i extracted, i routed all to one folder, is this the folder the batch file?

  • where can i download the files it is not available the add u give n u r desciption? thx

  • @miladsafi12 Yes, it is. Go to the other video. Watch it. Follow the instructions. Links in the description of the other video: "Bin4ry's Graphical Flasher"

  • Comment removed

  • @miladsafi12 Check the other video: wacg-dsx9ew

Works on any X10. Use the latest graphical flasher.

  • You forget to mention putting the proper Device ID in to the DeviceID file to properly flash the phone

  • @M1xBlender The script automatically detects it.

  • i just got my X10a from AT&T. When attempting to flash it says loader .sin is not found and a list of things. Can u help!?

  • @decoy83 Use the graphical flash tool. New video up.

  • when i do hold back button and insert the battery then anter but tht balck windos turns off on my pc, why? do i need to root my x10a before i can do this flash? thx

  • @1453cent You either haven't installed Java, Sony Update Service or haven't inserted your phone in flash mode before so your computer can install the drivers. Download the newer flash kit.

For the hundredth time, you don't need to root.

  • PLEASE HELLLLPPPPPP

  • @padro34569 Just take 3m:45s and flash it again.

  • @BluechipJ what do you mean flash it again

  • @BluechipJ i tried running that .bat file (X10Flash.Bat) and i clicked like 2. and 3. and like 4. and then it said looking for xperia in like flash mode or something so i plugged in the battery while hodling the back button and plugged it in and it still dont work... it doesent read it in flash mode

  • @padro34569 Then you haven't installed Sony Ericsson Update Service and/or PC Companion and you haven't previously connected your phone in flash mode with Sony's official update service so that Windows can install the drivers. Or as the video/comments say, try another USB port.

If you can't connect in flash mode, you can't even update officially using Sony and you have bigger issues.

  • @BluechipJ so what should i do?

  • @padro34569 *facepalm*

    1. Install Sony Ericsson Update Service.

    2. Install Sony PC Companion.

    3. Run Update Service & follow the instructions.

If you can't even update using the official software, you shouldn't even be considering modifying your phone. Go watch some of the official Sony Ericsson videos: user/sonyericsson

  • @BluechipJ i cant update using official stuff becuase it still has not been released to the western half of the united states

  • mother #$@$, now my phone is restarting non stop and wont get to the home screen :(

  • hi i tried updating my x10 but it says no available update...what will i do?? i have R2BA024 build number..tnx

  • @gbrspratt Open a command prompt and go to where you extracted it. Then type in "X10flash" to run it and see what it says. Running the batch file directly will just close it if anything goes wrong.

  • @gbrspratt The graphical tool takes up to 2 minutes to load. It comes with all the required files so if it isn't showing up, something's wrong with your computer.

  • @gbrspratt It's in the description: Latest flash tool...

Download it. Copy the firmware folder from my flash kit into the graphical flash tool. Run it, click flash, select the firmware. It's pretty self-explanatory. I should have another video up in a day or so.

  • @gbrspratt Have you installed SEUS and PC Companion?

Run SEUS and use that update process to ensure you computer detects your phone in flash mode.

Else, check out the more recent video of the multi-firmware flash kit. Or go download the graphical flash kit.

  • @gbrspratt Yes. Green light = flash mode.

  • @gbrspratt Yes. It should already be in flash mode, like in the video.

  • wait is this update out please reply ASAP!

  • I need help :( I get "The system cannot find the file specified 1 filed copied" What am I doing wrong please help... T-T

  • @jekenro Where are you getting this message? Which flash kit are you using? As long as it detects your phone in flash mode and all the firmware files are there, it should flash.

  • yo, I just got the notification on my x10 to get the update.

Do I need to root it and shit, or can I just update it through

pc companion. I just installed companion and I backed up

my phone and all, but when the pc companion prompts me to

turn off my phone and reconnect it while holding the back button,

nothing happens......dude would you happen to know what

I'm doing wrong, or if the pc companion update is useless?

    Thanks.

  • @tacosamurai1 Flashing doesn't require root/debranding/unlocking since 95% wouldn't have done that.

First time you plug your phone in flash mode, drivers need to be installed. It should pick it up automatically if you've got PC Companion and SE Update Service installed. Both these programs needs to be installed, as stated in the description.

Pull out the battery, plug in the USB cable. Hold the back button, insert the battery = flash mode. Make sure the computer is looking for the phone 1st.

  • Hi..i have 2.1 on my phone now but the led light is always orange when it charges. when the phone gets charged it stays green..is this normal or something wrong with my phone. please explain

  • @vinnyloid That's normal. It means the battery is filling up with yummy electrons. The LED is also red when the battery is low... The phone also "rings" when you receive a call... The sun also rises in the east...

  • @BluechipJ nice one funny guy but it never happened when i had 1.6 on my x10. when it charges it is green and the led goes off when it charges on 1.6..but now it is orange when it charges and green when it finishes....i think it is unusual....can you help me out blue dude

  • @vinnyloid I don't understand the issue. Many phones change their LEDs to indicate charging is complete. My digital camera blinks while charging and is solid when charged. This is just what they decided to do in 2.1. You can download the "Blink" application to change the colours.

The notification lights for SMS/email/etc. are also nicer in 2.1 in that they don't blink but gradually dim and brighten (gradient), not just straight on/off.

  • @BluechipJ hey thanks dude....blink blinks good....i thought it is an error. ....u rock

  • Thank you so much....cheers!!, it works.....yahoooooooooooo....fr: Philippines

  • I was able to update my X10i via PC Companion

  • DUDE YOU ARE THE SH*T! 5* 2 Thumbs ^ Subscribing.

  • i put it in flashmode but the cmd prompt keeps going with the dots after it says insert in flash mode... like its still waiting...

  • @jamelvaughn2010 Means it didn't detect flash mode properly or the driver isn't installed.

Go through the SEUS' update process first to ensure flash mode/your phone is detected properly. Then run the flash tool. You may need to manually enter in your Device ID into the text file.

  • @BluechipJ does it take a while once it gets to flashing system . sin?

  • @jamelvaughn2010 system.sin takes 3-4 minutes. It's 90% of the flash.

  • @BluechipJ i got a screen with a camera pointing to my phone?

  • I've successfully rooted mine and been using 2.1 from 1.6...it's amazing especially the HD shooting now . However, my 3G isn't working even tho it worked fine on 1.6. Is it because I went from x10a to x10i?

  • @Bakhtbolland13 You may have to enter in your Access Point Node (APN) information manually for 3G to work (servers, ports, etc.). For v2.1, it doesn't matter if you're using i or a -- the firmwares contain both radios.

  • @BluechipJ

    Hello BluechipJ,

I did configure the APN and i got the information of the service provider's website and it works ok. But it's not as fast as I had 3G now it shows H. But someone told me H doesn't matter!

  • @Bakhtbolland13 H = HSPA = 3.5G. Google it. It's the next tier of wireless.

  • @BluechipJ

Really? so you telling this update not only makes your video HD(720p) but it also takes your internet from 3 G to 3.5G...this is tooo sick. I had a rogers phone(x10a) and I upgraded to 2.1 of your video (thanks). Is there 2.2 cuz sony site doesn't have any info and what are the major changes?

  • Hey, have you noticed the photo slideshow takes longer time to load than before? Do you know how to create a photo album?

    THanks

  • IVE TRIED EVERYTHING!!!! X10 on AT&T v1.6 holding back and inserting battery while is says insert in flashmode and nothing installed semc usb flash drivers still nothing..HELP ME!!!

  • @jamelvaughn2010 If you don't know how to put your phone into flash mode, you shouldn't be flashing in the first place.

Install Sony Ericsson Update Service AND PC Companion. Try connecting in flash mode first (before flashing) to make sure the computer picks it up and the drivers are installed.

  • I've tried it this way twice now... i have a rooted and debranded x10a. It keeps bricking... am i doomed to use 1.6?

  • @Fan4Dem No... check out my latest video & firmware kit. Contains 1.6i, 1.6a, 2.1i, 2.1a. Should work for anyone.

  • @BluechipJ thanks for the quick reply. i just got 2.1a. SOOO HAPPY! :D thank you good sir. you seriously have saved me the pain of rebranding my phone. :P

  • This is just a general question to anyone that can answer it but after updating to the generic 2.1 I'm unable to send messages exceeding 160 characters. I tried searching around but couldn't really find anything specific to the xperia on 2.1. Anyone know how to fix this or are we going to have to wait for another update?

  • JUSt want to knw i2,1 avble in pakistan???

  • @MrDjhash No idea. Check the update map on XDA forums. Or download my flash kit that has 1.6i, 1.6a, 2.1i, 2.1a.

  • In your 'details' part... which files do i download? im running the x10a on ROGERS... does it matter if my phone is rooted?

  • @karrstarr420 Update Service, PC Companion. Doesn't matter if it's rooted or not. My latest video has a new flasher that has all four firmwares: 1.6i, 1.6a, 2.1i, 2.1a.

  • bluechip dude you are a fucking legend.....

  • I did this and it all worked, except after the camera icon, it turned of and went back to the logo and and continuously does that and nothing else will happen, it will restart then go to logo then restart again, could you please reply and help me out!?

  • @rickz543 Just flash it again. Something didn't load properly.

  • Hey Dude... ur awesome.. I have upgraded to 2.1 from 1.6

Though when i connect to the PC ccompanion, it always shows my SW is upto date...

  • @Raghu6162003 Unless the update has been released in your region/for your carrier, SEUS will tell you that you have the latest version.

  • @BluechipJ ,, anyways with ur help iam using the latest 2.1 version..:-)

    Thanks dude.

  • Would you mind explaining how to fix this issue please, with simple english ha? I'm no techie, just a guy who wants 2.1 already..:)

  • @JRpistolpete Install Sony Ericsson Update Service.

Run Sony Ericsson Update Service. Follow the instructions to verify that it works. It seems like your computer isn't even detecting the phone, which means the software isn't installed, which means you didn't follow the instructions in the video or Sony Ericsson Update Service.

  • alright i need help please. when i select my windows os off the bat, i get "Please connect your Xperia in Flashmode...." with an unlimited number of suspension points. I did exactly what you did, with the battery thing and holding the back button. Help please?

  • @JRpistolpete Sounds like the driver isn't installed. Have you tried updating using SE Update Service to verify that it can update regularly through the official update program? It has to work there first (despite saying that there is no update available).

Both SE Update Service and PC Companion have to be installed.

  • Hi hope someone can help me. But the phone keys does not longer work anymore. After I restart phone they work but just for a while like 2 or 3 minutes. I tried to run the update which PC Companion was telling to, but after step 2 where you need to hold back key while connect to USB. I cannot update, how can I update, how I know if this is safe for my phone? Any idea to how fix those keys, either the settings, home or back not work. Please help!!

  • @kronoXcr I don't understand. Have you updated using SE Update Service yet to insure you can get into flash mode? SEUS should tell you that it isn't an update available but you should do this first to ensure drivers are installed and you're able to get into flash mode. Run SEUS and follow the instructions.

  • @BluechipJ Hey thanks for the replied, but my issue was with phone three keys I found out that the issue was the cover pushing the volume or camera keys at the same time and it was making like a loop. No, I haven't updated my phone yet, I was trying with the "PC Companion Software" but maybe because the keys issue the phone wont update I will try tonight.

  • Is this compatible with AT&T's version of the X10?

  • @woods72 As stated in the comments below: Yes. Both firmwares (Nordic and Global) will work on ANY X10 "a" or "i" version. It also includes radios for every GSM network supported by the X10. The only difference is the included software. (e.g. Nordic includes a Swedish language browser and different keyboards, which you can remove.)

  • @BluechipJ Ok, thanks for the info. I do have one more question. Does the X10 display gradients well? I heard that the X10 with 1.6 had the 65,000k color limit.

  • 2.1 update for xperia x10 is available in pakistan or not??

  • @aleeshera777 No clue. Check XDA's 2.1 update map, link in the description.

  • it gives me an error "'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."

  • @wreneleo Java's not installed or your paths are wrong.

Find Java and run it directly. e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe

  • @BluechipJ i ran it and a command prompt window came up for half a second and dissapeared and i tried and still doesnt work

  • @wreneleo Obviously. You can't just run "Java.exe". If you don't give it any parameters, it closes. Your paths are wrong, therefore, your computer can't find Java. When the updater runs "Java X10flash.jar", it can't find "Java" to execute.

You need to edit the X10flash.bat file. Right click & edit the X10Flash.bat (the Windows Batch file, not the Executable Jar File) and wherever you see "@java", replace with @"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe"

Else, wait for the official SEUS update.

  • Is it working in all countries ? because in france we don't have the update yet.

  • @fastlane650 Yes. Both firmwares (Nordic and Global) will work on ANY X10 "a" or "i" version. It also includes radios for every GSM network supported by the X10. The only difference is the included software. (e.g. Nordic includes a Swedish language browser and different keyboards, which you can remove.)

  • ok i got a crappy at&t X10a. I didn't know about the whole fiasco of them not allowing non-market apps... sooo.... if I do this and reflash it will it give me that version of the firmware and actually be able to install non-market apps?

  • @cinic314159 To install non-Market apps, just go into Settings -> Applications -> [checkbox] Unknown Sources.

Flashing will put on a generic version of the firmware so it will debrand your phone.

  • @BluechipJ yeah see AT&T phones don't have that option you go to applications menu and all you have is development and manage applications guess I'll try flashing

  • my xperia wont stay in flash mode!! what should i do? i downloaded the file onto my desktop, i open x10flash and enter number 3 cause mine is a 32 bit, it says put into flash mode, i put it into flash mode and when i press continue, after 2 seconds the cmd stops going down and my phone turns on

  • @sinakiya29 Means you don't have the driver installed. Is SEUS and PC Companion installed?

  • Comment removed

  • Does the X10 need to be rooted before I do this? Mine is branded with Rogers

  • @j0eyst0rm Nope. Flash works on any phone, rooted or not, generic or branded, X10a or X10i. Doesn't matter.

  • Argg, can't upgrade mine :( I'm stuck at the flashing part. I dunno why, I've flashed my phone in the past before. I keep getting the "Unable to open channel" error. I've copied and placed the digits in the DeviceID.txt but every time I fail to flash my phone, the text in there keeps disappearing. I really don't know what I'm doing wrong, I have Java (32 bit), all the flash tools....any help? :(

  • @Funkyman391 Typically means the Device ID is wrong. Install Sony Ericsson Update Service and use it to update your phone (it'll tell you there is no new firmware, but the process of using flash mode with SUES updates the Dev ID).

    Also try switching USB ports.
