Hi, I will be moving soon and I wanted to know since we have to leave in the old housing for a year will you recommend that we leave off base then on base? Does the old houses look a little like the new housing?
@Ilovemysailor12 to get the new housing you have to live in the old housing for a year. I am not sure if its just your here for a year or live in housing for a year. the website is forest city housing . they may be able to answer that question better then me.:)
Nice house...military housing has come such a long way in the states, but in Germany its still out of the 80's. lots of space, I like that. Your daughter is so cut, smile. Nice size gaurage. Thats for the tour, but what post/base is this?

Im thinking of applying to Officers Candidate School next year after I finish my Masters degree - if Im not admitted to an doctorate-program. I wonder, how is the housing for junior officers? Secondly, I have read that the officers lives (on base) among the enlisted men. Can my pregnant (soon to be wife) socialize with the enlisted wifes?

@thecolaratlady our house is NOT on base, it is a private community in town by the base. we have a gym and lots of parks everywhere:) all military housing is not the same and it depends on where you live in the country. I have never lived on base so I could not give you my opinion on that.
Very nice. I remember as a military brat, in the sixties. Our options for base housing was limited, and usually we would rent off base, as we did in Aviano, AFB. But, we lived in a cool house that was over six hundred years old... In Italy, you had to buy your own light fixtures, rent portable closets, and a kitchen stove... Loads of fun. But, back then the dollar was worth a lot, in Italy!
Cute house, and I love the halloween bathroom! What about color on the walls? I would die with all white everywhere, very depressing. Will they let you paint at least one wall?

@MrOmgItsMe97 yes you still get paid. we have a thing called a housing allowance that we get plus what my husband gets paid monthly. if you live in military housing you give them the housing allowance because they pay all water, electric, ac and heat.

I will gladly live in our older home for the rest of my life if that means avoiding children running loose. They run in packs and leave their stuff everywhere. I run thru the new neighborhoods and it looks like a toy box threw up infront of every house.
@SaraKaye20 I know exactly what you mean. those are what you call typical military families, they let their children do what they want and do not respect the place they are living in the people around them. where we live now, there are less children and better people. but I can not say that for all newer housing.

Since we have to live in the old housing for a year before moving to the new housing, how was the noise level? Could you hear your neighbors a lot ?
