Actually, what you're calling a "box knot" is called a "square weave."

I make bracelets, too, and give them to friends and family. Same cobra stitch can be used for watchbands, and even rifle slings.

Hey, why is it considered a "survival" bracelet?

Because you can untie it and have about 8-10 feet of paracord, and then you can unravel it and have 7 pieces of nylon(actually 14, but they are twisted in pairs) and those can be used, and the sheath. It is very versitile.
