  • Lol, should go to Dunn Center or Pembina..

  • small town my ass that's a city

  • im a city boy in north dakota

  • I live in Winnipeg Canada, a city of close to 1 million & I listen to 800am Jamestown,ND when Im stressed out, "BROADCASTING LIVE FROM THE BUFFALO MALL" Love to listen to the specials at the Depot Restaraunt, usually invovling a pork chop meal & the farm report as well....

  • Ahhhhh I love this video! my town before the oil people!

  • Hey have u been to Wilton? Its north of Bismarck.

  • Ever been to Fort Ransom? It's hidden in the valley and has 70 people

  • @THEREALC0NRAD I don't think so. I believe Jamestown is the closest I've been to that area, and that was a very long time ago.

  • Gotta love Stanley, now where is palermo?

  • @own16 Actually I do have some shots of Palermo in another video. Search for North Dakota Road Trip. The shots of Palermo are at about 09:30 in the video.

  • Great video! I love the way you showed your town with fitting music. In the late 80s,while living in Rochester,MN,I had neighbors that had cousins in Stanley,ND and this video reminds me of some old friends. They went there every summer. Thanks again for the great vid!

  • Stanley is a great little town though it sounds like it has grown a lot lately because of the oil business. Thanks.

  • ...i love rural USA and Canada....

  • I'm not sure but i think it's cando

  • haha i also love north dakota booze cruisin back roads is the life

  • this is awesome i live just like 20 miles from stanley

  • I live in ND, but I don't like all the country music and the booze. If we could expand and get rid of those two things, this state would be perfect!!!??!??

  • Hebron North Dakota is smaller than that u should go visit there

  • @ironclawisback ya Hebron is the bomb, what other town has such a bad ass brick factory?

  • that town is huge compared to Penn or Churches Ferry, lol.

  • are the girls easy or stuck up in north dakota?

  • @m14closerangeSniper we're actually neither, in my opinion(: but we could probably beat you up ;D

i <3 north dakota, even though it is kinda boring lol (:

  • @m14closerangeSniper Nawww some but other than those few they r coool.

  • Makes me miss home!

  • really? im from italy. i though that immigrant and bad ppl were only in big towns, and not in small states. sorry cause ND should be a nice place to live...

  • damn try living in south heart or amidon. south heart 300 people 2 streets 1gas station. amidon 1 street and do they even have a gas station?

  • wow this video sucks

  • is that towner?

  • dang you think thats small???go to huff...thats about the smallest town ive ever saw...like 1 street

  • I grew up in a very small town in North Dakota called Willow City, and Rugby...Crazy times!

  • no hood, no niggaz, no violence... what a paradise!

  • That isn't small.

  • nice ride ))

  • I had never seen so many pickup trucks in a town before

  • what's the population do all have over there right now?

  • as of 2009 the population is just 641,481.

  • At 5:43 it looks like the old Ross School. I cruised those roads more times than I could count. Thank you

  • Yes, good observation. That clip is Ross.

  • were is this at in North Dakota?

  • Stanley today looks much different than it did in '97. The oil and gas industry in Mountrail County--the Bakken--is booming there as it is in nearby Parshall and New Town. Same great people but the economy has rocketed. Not a bad combination... BTW, anyone looking for work?

  • Yea exactly. The oil has changed some of these small towns. Minot is growing like a bitch from the oil here.

  • i live in this town =D

  • GO BISONS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love love NORTH DAKOTA and i dont know why its just awesome !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stanley! Class of 03'...AND my house and car are in this video! haha, just a friendly reminder that we were the state football champs in 99' and 02....both times beating Carrington! Although Velva games were always the most fun. In minneapolis now, love it, but miss the outdoors

  • congrats rookie! did you guys win those titles in class C football? where you were the only team

  • This person actrally made Stanley look bigger than it is!! haha

  • "This person actrally made Stanley look bigger than it is!! haha"

LOL That wasn't my goal, but yeah I agree. If we had driven up and down Main St. a couple more times I could made it look like a really big city.

  • I was born in steele.......that kinda looks like it.....although i havent been there since i was 3

  • haha that be stanley

  • I'm from Portland ND. Population of 600 people. I recognize the grain elevators, and the ONE street that most of these towns call MAIN STREET cause that's where almost ALL of the businesses are located. God, I love this state.

  • Ah yes, the Stanley Blue Jays. Routinely kicked their asses in football in the early 80's. The Memories :-) Go Garrison Troopers!!

  • I love that town! Ive got a lot of family that lives there.

But if you wanna talk small towns, go check out Newburg. I think theyve got about 80 people.

  • This is the lovely little town of Stanley, in northwestern ND, about halfway between Williston and Minot. Imagine Mayberry with scandahooovian accents.

  • Does anybody know the town of Zeeland in ND? I was there last year (from the UK) because my sister and I discovered that my uncle, who was murdered there in 1925 was buried in a potters field just outside. We found the grave, with the help some people in the town, had a headstone put down and finally managed to visit it. It was a moving experience for us.

  • I Know!!!!

i am from spain, but i lived there one year back in 86-87. senior year in high school.

  • the smallest town i know of is pingree it has like 80 people living their plus me :)

  • It's Stanley

  • I live in Ct and I thought it was cold there on the weather ND get's up to -40 degrees

  • It's cold as hell in North Dakota. I always see Fargo on the Weather Channel with a high of like -20 or somethin.

  • Aww, Regis theater, Wilson park, Whirl-a-Whips! I even see my old house!

  • Kenmare here!

  • This town reminds me so much of small towns in wisconsin. You can't even tell the difference.

  • I live in fargo.

  • Good..now piss off..What did you think people were going to do ..roll out a red carpet for you?If you don't like it go back ...nobodies stopping you.

  • "I mean i came here with a lot of different ideas, hopes. they dont wanna meet any other culture or anything."

Dude, thats pretty much the way life is everywhere. I'm talking as an American who has spent some time in a few foreign countries, and seen the same type of thing in those places too.

If you expect others to accept your culture, you should probably try to understand their culture also. Anyways if you don't like it there, you probably should go back.

  • Stanley reminds me of alot of places in Minnesota. Its not quite as small as alot of others in ND. I wonder what the place is like these days?

  • ok i have a question where is this taken at at first i thought it was bowman but then i realized it was a little too small(btw i live in belfield pop. 886)

  • "ok i have a question where is this taken"

    Its Stanley.

  • my grandparents live in stanley

  • Drive 30 miles south and west from there and you are in my town of residence.

  • "Drive 30 miles south and west from there and you are in my town of residence."

    That would be New Town?

  • Yes, that would be. I caught your videos around the lake. The times surely have changed.

  • Yes, I remember Saturday nights in Stanley. Playing "dodge 'em" with C.B. radios and cruising main in my old red truck. The song talks about having no money and putting a dollar's worth of gas in the pickup truck. I think that is about me! God Bluejays and class of '78.

  • look-out for that pothole!

  • im am from stanley. i was just curious who sings the second song? If you could let me know. Thought it was really cool you did this.

  • Brought me right back to the 80's cruising main street of Stanley and drinking Bud Light. Thanks

  • I reconized this town right away! We live there. When was it taken?

  • "When was it taken?"

This video is from Sept. 18 1997.

  • at first i thought it was kulm then after you passed about 3 blocks i was like that to big to be kulm

  • Hey, I'm from tioga, ND. There's about 3000 people that live here.

  • hey i live 30 miles from that town haha and ours is still smaller

  • i read an article about north dakota on national geographic magazine last night. it gave me the impression that NK is a place deserted. it is not so bad after all. even though NK has only 600K ppls...

  • when was this shot? mid-80's? My 3 year old son loves the songs and the scenery..

  • "when was this shot? mid-80's?"

Naw it's not quite that old. It was shot on Sept. 18 1997. Thanks for your comment.

  • Makes me homesick! Grandparents still live in Stanley, and have relitives in Palermo too. Remember summers 30 years ago sitting in the drug store eating a whirla whip!

  • Just an update. The drug store sells whirla whips. This video is very old, I don't know why it was posted just 11 months ago. It's so old I was probably at recess. Where are you from and why in the world do you have a video of Stanley and other ND towns? OH well, i'm still very surprised Stanley is on youtube and that I recognize several of the vehicles in the video.

  • Thanks for your comment. This video is just random. All my videos are just random places I've been. From a box full of 8 mm video tapes I've accumulated over the years.

Actually I'm kind surprised too. These ND videos are actually some of my most view. There seems to be a lot of interest in ND. I'm happy some people find them interesting enough to watch.

  • Im from grand forks my grand parents live in rolla and rollette nd. now i live in norcal thanks for the quick trip home, loved it!!!

  • "This is Canada right?"

Um, no. States i.e. Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota = United STATES. Provinces i.e Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba = Canada. See: maps. google. com. for more info.

  • you passed a telecom tower why didnt you orgonite it..no wonder you are depressed..lol lol

  • Hey-I was raised in Palermo but moved to Oregon in 1968. Near the ocean, trees, beautiful! I love to come back to visit though.

  • Hey you might want to check out my other video "North Dakota Road Trip". I have some shots of Palermo in it. Though it looked like a bit of a Ghost Town even ten years ago.

  • Is Oregon affordable? Are people friendly there?

  • Affordable? More so than Calif. and Seattle.

However, it is being discovered for it's beauty and mild weather. People are moving her from all over. We live by the coast. People are friendly where I live, but not as much as they are in No. Dak.

  • People moving to North Dakota?! HA!!! The population numbers don't support that. In fact, the best and brightest people in North Dakota are leaving the state to places like Minneapolis.

  • I've lived in the Twin Shitties, and I'll take Fargo over them any day.

Still bitter about getting booted off the Grand Forks city council, huh John?

  • killdeer is the way to go

  • Crazy. I graduated from Stanley.

  • Watford City is sooo much better!!!

  • looks like dickinson north dakota been years since i have been back to north dakota.

  • it's too close to highway 2 to be dickenson.

  • dude, you shouldve went to belcourt

  • oh rolla and belcourt are smaller

  • Try on your video mayberry but Raschel flats that is what that town is.

  • I gave you somewhere to go. But dont go so fast on the video!! lol

  • Hey I wish you could go threw a town I knew and hey you need a cam shotter. Im there! But you have to show how small towns do it when they have to shit and piss and tip cows. We dont want to do that but hey at least show them how fun it is out there pass the city life. How somber life is out there your friend is going to talk to you about your power and pay him. Man it was so nice to live out there but!!

  • Small town is ND Paige or Hope and all those towns. You are doing nothing for small town you went through a big town!! GN

  • Actually to me every town in ND is a small town.

  • i live in fargo ND
