@own16 Actually I do have some shots of Palermo in another video. Search for North Dakota Road Trip. The shots of Palermo are at about 09:30 in the video.
Great video! I love the way you showed your town with fitting music. In the late 80s,while living in Rochester,MN,I had neighbors that had cousins in Stanley,ND and this video reminds me of some old friends. They went there every summer. Thanks again for the great vid!
I live in ND, but I don't like all the country music and the booze. If we could expand and get rid of those two things, this state would be perfect!!!??!??
really? im from italy. i though that immigrant and bad ppl were only in big towns, and not in small states. sorry cause ND should be a nice place to live...
Does anybody know the town of Zeeland in ND? I was there in 2008 (from the UK) because my sister and I discovered that my uncle, who was murdered there in 1925 was buried in a potters field just outside. We found the grave, with the help some people in the town, had a headstone put down and finally managed to visit it. It was a moving experience for us.
Stanley today looks much different than it did in '97. The oil and gas industry in Mountrail County--the Bakken--is booming there as it is in nearby Parshall and New Town. Same great people but the economy has rocketed. Not a bad combination... BTW, anyone looking for work?

Nice music and video. I'm looking for a small town far away from the Hispanic/Latino invasions that we are having here in Florida. I lived in California and it is like Mexico from LA all the way down to The San Diego border. I moved here thinking it might be better only the ML-13 Maracha gang has moved into my small Florida town. I live an hour South of Tampa. They are draining our wefare system with their citizenship babies and bringing dirt and crime. NO! I'm not racist. I'm 1/4 Cherokee.

Stanley! Class of 03'...AND my house and car are in this video! haha, just a friendly reminder that we were the state football champs in 99' and 02....both times beating Carrington! Although Velva games were always the most fun. In minneapolis now, love it, but miss the outdoors
wow nice to see the town of stanley on here. thanks for showing nd when its green and beautiful. i live south of columbus nd and been in this area half of my life. back in the 70s used to cruise main with kids from here noonan and lignite kids too so many memories. and then wildwood park south on 40. what a place. now there isnt much left but a bar and cafe, and oas implement. nice to go and drive around by myself once in a while. ill never forget this area
I'm from Portland ND. Population of 600 people. I recognize the grain elevators, and the ONE street that most of these towns call MAIN STREET cause that's where almost ALL of the businesses are located. God, I love this state.
This is the lovely little town of Stanley, in northwestern ND, about halfway between Williston and Minot. Imagine Mayberry with scandahooovian accents.
Does anybody know the town of Zeeland in ND? I was there last year (from the UK) because my sister and I discovered that my uncle, who was murdered there in 1925 was buried in a potters field just outside. We found the grave, with the help some people in the town, had a headstone put down and finally managed to visit it. It was a moving experience for us.
The people in the town were real poor, so none of the children had any toys. But this one little boy had gotten an old enema bag and filled it with rocks, and he would go around and whap the other children across the face with it. Man, I think my heart almost broke. Later the boy came up and offered to give me the toy. This was too much! I reached out my hand, but then he ran away. I chased him down and took the enema bag. He cried a little, but that's the way of these people.
love the video! do you have any of newrockford? i used to live in newrockford and would drive around for hours.video reminds me 0f 1992, the year i graduated.
u people need to simmer. it's stanley not any other town. it's ok that it's not your town, it doesnt mean this guy hates u. it actually doesnt matter it wont affect your life. anyway love the video. i have lived in stanley 21 of my 25 years. moved away for awhile n had to come back, was even a whirla whip girl! and the 5spot is THE BEST bar in the world!
I love your video, as I watched it touched me and even a tear to my eye. Especially seeing the kids on the playground and the little stores and pickup trucks. I became so very homesick for my North Dakota home
I Live in Thee smallest town in North Dakota..But North dakota is so Beautiful..i just wish i can explore different states cuz iv been here my whole life
I lived in ND all my life and gonna spend the rest of my here I swear I driven every road in the state. I love it here. But don't be movin here though there too many people the way it is
was back to stanley/ross/minot a few years ago, for a family reuinon on my fathers side "cvancara" drove back to stanley where mother grew up. north dakotaian people are really friendly, even the highway patrol gave me a ticket for $65.00 dollars or so 80 mph in a 55 zone
From time to time I get homesick. I'm looking at the Golden Gate from my window now, though. Go Aggies! I miss the Sharptail Grouse hunting around that area. We had bird dogs (English Setters). Hunting still good?
"I mean i came here with a lot of different ideas, hopes. they dont wanna meet any other culture or anything."

If you expect others to accept your culture, you should probably try to understand their culture also. Anyways if you don't like it there, you probably should go back.

Yes, I remember Saturday nights in Stanley. Playing "dodge 'em" with C.B. radios and cruising main in my old red truck. The song talks about having no money and putting a dollar's worth of gas in the pickup truck. I think that is about me! God Bluejays and class of '78.

i read an article about north dakota on national geographic magazine last night. it gave me the impression that NK is a place deserted. it is not so bad after all. even though NK has only 600K ppls...
Makes me homesick! Grandparents still live in Stanley, and have relitives in Palermo too. Remember summers 30 years ago sitting in the drug store eating a whirla whip!
Just an update. The drug store sells whirla whips. This video is very old, I don't know why it was posted just 11 months ago. It's so old I was probably at recess. Where are you from and why in the world do you have a video of Stanley and other ND towns? OH well, i'm still very surprised Stanley is on youtube and that I recognize several of the vehicles in the video.
Thanks for your comment. This video is just random. All my videos are just random places I've been. From a box full of 8 mm video tapes I've accumulated over the years.
Actually I'm kind surprised too. These ND videos are actually some of my most view. There seems to be a lot of interest in ND. I'm happy some people find them interesting enough to watch.
Um, no. States i.e. Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota = United STATES. Provinces i.e Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba = Canada. See: maps. google. com. for more info.
Hey you might want to check out my other video "North Dakota Road Trip". I have some shots of Palermo in it. Though it looked like a bit of a Ghost Town even ten years ago.
However, it is being discovered for it's beauty and mild weather. People are moving her from all over. We live by the coast. People are friendly where I live, but not as much as they are in No. Dak.
People moving to North Dakota?! HA!!! The population numbers don't support that. In fact, the best and brightest people in North Dakota are leaving the state to places like Minneapolis.
Hey I wish you could go threw a town I knew and hey you need a cam shotter. Im there! But you have to show how small towns do it when they have to shit and piss and tip cows. We dont want to do that but hey at least show them how fun it is out there pass the city life. How somber life is out there your friend is going to talk to you about your power and pay him. Man it was so nice to live out there but!!
Thanks for posting the video. Nice to see ND again. I was born and raised near Grand Forks and attended UND. Now living in Seattle, but still have great memories of ND.
i live in north dakota i live in killdeer its in the south west we dont have much flat we have the badlands and Killdeer mountians im so glad its not flat here it would be even more boring then it already is lol

"This is Canada right?"
Um, no. States i.e. Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota = United STATES. Provinces i.e Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba = Canada. See: maps. google. com. for more info.

Hey-I was raised in Palermo but moved to Oregon in 1968. Near the ocean, trees, beautiful! I love to come back to visit though.

Hey you might want to check out my other video "North Dakota Road Trip". I have some shots of Palermo in it. Though it looked like a bit of a Ghost Town even ten years ago.

Is Oregon affordable? Are people friendly there?
schmitz9066 4 years ago
Affordable? More so than Calif. and Seattle.
However, it is being discovered for it's beauty and mild weather. People are moving her from all over. We live by the coast. People are friendly where I live, but not as much as they are in No. Dak.
KDPvet 4 years ago
People moving to North Dakota?! HA!!! The population numbers don't support that. In fact, the best and brightest people in North Dakota are leaving the state to places like Minneapolis.

I've lived in the Twin Shitties, and I'll take Fargo over them any day.
Still bitter about getting booted off the Grand Forks city council, huh John?

Hey I wish you could go threw a town I knew and hey you need a cam shotter. Im there! But you have to show how small towns do it when they have to shit and piss and tip cows. We dont want to do that but hey at least show them how fun it is out there pass the city life. How somber life is out there your friend is going to talk to you about your power and pay him. Man it was so nice to live out there but!!
