  • OMG, THANK YOU. Incubus rocked back in their heyday. I missed this vid. :*( Of course, artists grow and change, but I do miss the "edgy, off the wall aspect of Incubus in their early years.

"Take Me To Your Leader" is classic. ;)

  • too bad i was a toddler when ppl were still moshing to incubus. wish i could have been there for the science/fungus days.

  • such a phenomenal form of existence.

  • first song i heard by them

  • The lyrics make me impressed

  • This will always be the Incubus I remember!!!!

  • This was when incubus was crazy wild and fun! NOW THEY ARE ALL BORING sellouts haha I miss the olc incubus

  • Truth is that Incubus hasn't been the same since Dirk Lance left. In my opinion he was the brain behind the band. Just pay attention to all the bass lines from Fungus amongus to morning view. Once he left, the magic bass lines that made incubus the awesome band it was, disappeared.

Still a great band, but sadly not the band I fell in love with anymore.

  • @RhettHours I'm not so sure that Mike was writing his parts. However, if he was, Dirk was doing a much better job than Ben is. That's my opinion at least. Considering that Ben is a guitarist and not a bassist I guess you could say he's decent. Still not the awesome band that I fell in love with. I also think that the New incubus could well be Brandon Boyd's solo project.

  • I wish incubus would go back to this sound

  • Brilliantly... This song is based on one simple thing... Stuck behind someone at a red light after it turns green... Somehow Brandon Boyd makes magic out of this!

  • I love SCIENCE

  • shit they knew back in 97

  • FIrst Incubus song I have ever heard.

  • @alternateshadow300 first video i ever saw when it was on TRL

  • Incubus's best album.

  • this may be very random..but rip ryan dunn

  • @PerryHacksApples rest in peace Dunn

  • I think I grew a gray, watching your procrastinate! :)

  • Now it's 19 people who are idiots. Damn.....

  • 19 people prefer Ben Kenney.

  • why are the two top comments just thumbwhores?

  • @testnumberone1 I agree. How original - every fucking video has to have people commenting on the dislikes. Get over it. Not everyone likes your music - who gives a shit?

  • ah Incubus before they all cut their hair and went all mtv on everybody

  • @MsThedragonfly83 BOOOOOOO! they did not sell out thank you. They grew up from 18 year old kids smoking a lot of pot to, well older musicians smoking a lot of pot. Listen to just a phase please. thank you

  • @BAMFdude15 never said they sold out just went all mtv, I loved their dreads but thats me, and I was upset to hear that the lead singer was qouted as saying they hated their early stuff which and its just my silly lil oppion that their early stuff was their best stuff and had it not been for their early stuff non of their new stuff could have come to be so I am an early day Incubus fan and give them props for coming as far as they have but I could honestly care less for their new stuff

  • @MsThedragonfly83 1) yeah, I got a little snarky/trolly there my apologies. 2) I do miss the days of azwethinkweiz and other assorted silliness that they produced, but 3) I find that they have grown up as people/musicians and that it reflects in their music, and 4) I did get into them during their "Make Yourself" "Morning View" days so I dig their mellowed tone, but still love everything they do (little bit of a fanboy)

  • @BAMFdude15 was never trippin fanboy lol, everyone has a right to their own oppinions about the music they like and dont like, I admire your love for incubus old or new they are a great band and have stuck it out alot longer than most other bands, so keep up spreading the great new that is incubus

  • @BAMFdude15 I have to disagree. "Make Yourself" was definitely an album that reflected the band's maturing as musicians and people. The singles started to get on my nerves but it was a phenomenal record all in all. "Morning View" was the converse. Had a few brilliant moments but it was largely unoriginal commercial crap. I stopped listening after that.

  • @broskijohansson taking off my snarky, troll pants, but I highly disagree with that claim as well. Morning View was an amazing piece of music. Yes, the singles on that album did get more play than anything else to date, but it is a product of the environment they chose to write it in, and it is a beautifully crafted work. I have no idea how it can be called "unoriginal" and "commercial" when they really didn't change all that much from Make Yourself.

  • Best Incubus song ever, this song rocks!!!

  • its funny how Incubus went downhill really quickly after this album

    BLARGH

  • @maxeypad: Yeah, but the album after this one was still really good too.

  • i really don't like there acoustic version of this and there old songs, it robs it of the raw funky spirit that they were built upon

  • I like the acoustic version better.

  • The funny thing is almost no one actually knows what this song means. Green is the shade of the heart chakra which is the chakra of love. 2012 a.d. is the end of the birth of Earth into the 4th density vibration. The density/dimension of love, that is represented with the color green. Notice the music video making light of the old system falling, and the new generation stepping forward.

  • If u have any doubt about it just look up what tattoos the lead singer has and u will know his deep spiritual connotation.

  • @affliction91six your mom has a deep spiritual connection.

  • @affliction91six ....I think its about money, hence the money being pulled out of his pants, but i do get what ur saying!

    Love Kaylin! (:

  • Incubus are still great musicians but they just don't make music I like very much anymore. Science is still one of my all time favorite albums.

  • Im not going to say anything against new Incubus, but Fungus, S.C.I.E.N.C.E, and Morning View are the only albums i prefer to listen to.

  • 17 people are a certain shade of asshole

  • @jpisgangsta let's make a certain shade of brown song

  • @scat4u Hahahahahaha!! That made my day! xD

  • @scat4u hell yeah

  • @jpisgangsta 19 now

  • He sings exacly like Mike Patton on this song!

  • @patoblet

No. Brandon Boyd is a great singer, but no one can sing like Mike Patton.

  • @Isojoki AND Patton didn't sell out and turn into a hipster!!!

  • @patoblet well mr. bungle was one of the influences in their first few albums :D

  • Was the screaming really necessary at the end there?

  • this rocks. incubus is so much better here -__-

  • Brandon wants to be Mike Patton

  • my penis asked me if i can have sex with the monitor. fucking love it.

  • take me to your leader or die by fly guy........

ya......i have the vid to that song too :-)

  • he had gauges before they were somewhat cool

  • Hoping I can embed this one....

  • like u haven't changed in 20 years...

  • Brandon Boyd looks like Jonathan Davis of Korn in certain shots.

  • @drumwrkshp With better looks and a vocals

  • Just a little comment here, I first saw Incubus play back in the late 90's at the "Middle East " club here in Boston, along with System of a Down, before either were well-known. Best concert of my life.

    Yeh, guess I'm old. ^.^

  • In all honesty, I think that S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was epic. Such a great album. "Enjoy Incubus" as well. I loved "Take Me To Your Leader".

I still like Incubus, but I feel like they've lost their edge. :(

  • @Rayvenlunatic No they just got mellow with age. It happens to everyone, well almost everyone.

  • @ANBUblackops666 While your point is valid, no one mellows in 2 years like they did unless they're trying to sell out.

  • @EricBarbaric78 2 years is a long time, lots a=of stuff can happen. I've changed dramatically as have the other members of my band. Incubus didn't sell out, if the sold out I wouldn't have to tell people who they were they would at least be moderately well known. lol haven't seen their stuff in hot tpoic and thats my usual indicator of a sell out

  • @ANBUblackops666 Years is a long time yes. I am a musician and can say with 90% certainty that no one mellows that quickly without a record executive standing over their shoulder saying, "If you copy this sound, you can make an ass load of money.". Nuff said.

  • @EricBarbaric78 That's your opinion

  • Man, this has always been my favorite Incubus song!

  • I was in this video!!

  • 1997 WHAT A GREAT YEAR 1997

  • I don't understand the people that don't like the newer incubus stuff, honestly i can is listen to Take Me to Your Leader and Dig and love both and still realize its the same band.

  • @headbanger327

If I could 'like' that multiple times I would, well said.

  • @headbanger327

I also am baffled by those fans who have left the band because of the new stuff.

My musical tastes have evolved since 1997. I understand how things change however

I understand it is the same band (+/- a few parts). However what is Incubus today is a huge departure from the "Enjoy Incubus" and "s.c.i.e.n.c.e" days

  • @headbanger327 then you don't hear bass

  • @ChosenCo2503 um. what?

  • @headbanger327 Probably referring to Dirk leaving...

  • @headbanger327 srry but I like Dig better

  • @headbanger327 I can answer your question. It sounds like a different band to me without Dirk Lance. Its like Deep Purple mark 2 and deep purple mark 3. They sound different but I like them both. I don't like the new sounds they make. And one of the reasons I fell in love with incubus was because of the bass-guitar. Ben Kenny is technically compident but Dirk lance is a whole new level and both are completely different bassists. And yes also becuase Dirk is a finger player bassist.

  • Yes i totally agree, incubus will always have there touch to music, no one makes music like them. Brandon Boyd is a genius, and if you dont think so, then you just wasted your time watching this video, and putting a negative comment, because true incubus fans will laugh at your comment because you have no taste in music if you have a problem with this band(:

  • Bands change. People change. It's called maturing. Not that their sound was immature back then. It simply was more suitable for them at the moment. Their sounds is great regardless if it' metal or melodic.

  • This is the best song they ever made. It's a damn shame they turned all weepy whiney.

  • I love this song!!

  • the dreads had to go

  • Had incubus stayed the same and continued to make this sound their entire career instead of growing and responding to themselves as artists, THAT would be "selling out". I'll never understand the desire people have for bands to make the same album again and again.

  • @Kornkrop We were hoping for more of the same style. They went from being "Powerman 5000" to being "Foo Fighters". That's a hell of a change, and they lost most of their original fan base, just like Metallica after they released the album that followed the "Black" album (and I'll give you a thumbs up is you can tell me what movie that black album design was a spoof of).

  • @EricBarbaric78 Spinal Tap! It's Blacker than Black. You can't get anymore blacker than that.

  • @useit90 Incubus totally goes up to 11

  • 16 people are color blind !!

  • 16 people are standing around 'til 2012 A.D.

  • I am forever dumbfounded by people saying " they have changed". Incubus as do all bands change, swap, deliver and sound different through band changes, influence changes, label changes, it's just how it is. Grow and listen to enjoy, or move on and no harm done. But the necessity to leave more than harsh comments just shows the true nature of how shallow some of us have become. YES, I am talking about you fuckwit!

  • @mgnewageD479 Horrible point how? I grew up with those two albums and then they suddenly changed their style to something I found less than appealing.

  • @mgnewageD479 Because Science and Fungus are their best two albums, and since that's the style I enjoy form them I thus consider their newer, more radio-friendly, approach to making music to be a bit sissy. You don't have to agree with me, or like my opinions, but damn it if I'm not going to stand by them.

  • S.C.I.E.N.C.E. was their best freaken album!

  • @Pilzbery eye spell it that way purposely dumb ass!

  • @ShantiVirus why? Because you want to look like a dumb ass?

  • This song sums up highschool for me.

  • i love this

  • This is when Incubus was at their prime. I can do without them now...it happens

  • This album is so bad ass. This was my smoking weed and driving around sound track. haha

  • 15 people are idiots.

  • Barrel green. Thats the shade eyem sure of this!

  • @ShantiVirus Really? "eyem" Our education system is so bad-ass

  • brandon looks boss with dreads.,.. i vote for their return!

  • brandon looks like bob marley

  • @t10h190 You suck lol.

  • Can I just build a time machine and go back to this.

  • Yo!!.. t10h190..are you deaf??..what do you mean this song sucks??..maybe because you have poor taste in music...did you get an -F minus in music class???..

  • incubus's early style of music was raw...and now as a band they have evolved..to all you retards out there it means growth..so sit back and shut the fuck up..and visualize...

  • Best song by Incubus!

  • @LaBambaMan really? there is no point in leaving a comment if all your going to do is rip apart a bands music.Your wasting your time by writing it, and trust me, nobody wants to read it. Leave us loyal fans alone.

  • are you gonna stand arount till 2012 AD hehehe,. Mayan prediction?

  • @blocklot3141 Precisely. Also in the music video Warning, everybody dissapears at 10:24. 10-24=20-12 so the world will end at 10:24 December 21st 2012.

  • lol i was only 1 when this album came out and i heard this song when i was 7

  • wow the old incubus is kick ass!!!! hahha this one rocks

  • Dang i was 2 years old when this album came out. I love incubus.

  • haha at 2:57 the dude on the right is humping the light

  • I've been listening to these guys since i was thirteen and yet i've heard all these songs hundreds of times they never get old

  • What was Incubus singing about these days???

  • can't believe these guys were like 20 years old when they composed this

  • One of the best song intros EVAR!

  • NU FUCKING METAL...Memories

  • Bring back the dreds!

  • I'm not going to talk crap on new Incubus, but anything before Make Yourself, I'm down for. I just like this sound better is all.

  • Their old stuff is the best...

  • the best song ever.

  • Anybody who leaves bitchy comments about Incubus and how there sound has changed is simply el retardo. There music changed as the guys in the band did. Its a natural, and in this case, beautiful thing. Incubus was, and is to this day, one of the best bands on the planet. And maybe on other planets too..

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX None of it is bad, their both great. They just evolved thats it. But its both good.

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX Unless that progression takes a band from something good to some sissy shit like they've become. There's no denying that Fungus Amongus and Science are their best albums, and after "Drive" became a big hit song they just stopped even trying and kept pumping out generic radio friendly rock.

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX couldn't have said it better; 100% true

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX hey join us in the 21st century dumbass

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX Sorry, but some of us, who hate pop music, and like nu metal, wonder, how can someone of this magnitude become what you would hear from them today...it's not beautiful to the lot of us...

  • @monstersball45 This isn't really num metal. It's more experimental funk metal

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX

I agree with that last comment, simply because their music is out of this world.

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX fuck you they sold out

  • @berdoesgirls you are retarded.

  • @BMG1108 call me what you want, they still sold out

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX the only people that say different are those who can't move on.

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX i honestly thought the beginning of their sound was from the album "make yourself"

and then i realized they have so many more albums before 1999. It's amazing how they have evolved.

    agreed. thumbs up.

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX

U really don't know much about music, do u? People like me don't mind if a band changes or evolves their sound but in an original and creative way. Unfortunately, after Science, Incubus went downhill. U will not find songs like Vitamin, Redefine, New Skin, Nebula in their later releases. They went from experimental Faith No More style to a poppy puppy commercial nstink-backshitboys band with musical instruments.

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX

The only song after Science that is worth listening to is Pardon Me...and by the way, Science is not their best album, but it is One of the best crossover records out there. It is a masterpiece! Experimental, creative, original, raw, heavy...and so on!

  • @xXKiSsxKoNtAgIoUsxX If the aliens are nice, give them this music. If they are hostile, give them Beiber.

  • So. Good.

  • 2012 AD...creepy huh

  • one of their better songs by far!

  • what happened to them now? they're pretty horrible these days.

  • @PukeXXX nothing horrible about them, their style has evolved is all, i still think they rock, even today.

  • you can tell anthony keidis is one of brandon's influences. the hand movement and everything

  • omg. new incubus can suck the old incubus.

  • HEY!! They're still awesome in a different type of musics perspective. Think of it that way.

  • How is it sad. There much different, but still purely badass

  • am i the only person that likes both OLD AND NEW Incubus

  • YES!! they were the shit, and well... that's really all i can say.

  • @LOOZR182 hell no. i usually hate when bands change their sound but incubus has never release a bad melody. i love them unconditionally.

  • Awesome!

  • @LOOZR182 nope!

  • @LOOZR182 nope I love it all too!

  • this is back when Incubus was good
