@MyLoveAPBT Buddy Smaller feeding enclosures are better, your wrong, and second he hadnt be eating, and because of his size, he needed to ASAP. i agree that Ball Pythons can be stubborn on eating even though people say balls have no issues with it, but small kings will occasionally do this.

@underyourspell13 Its a defense mechanism, just like how leopard geckos have a tail that looks like a head to try to trick attackers...this snake does the same thing, when it rattles its tail, it trys to trick the attacker into thinking its a venomous rattlesnake:)
The snake wasn't striking out of hunger, but it was striking out of fear. Look at the rattling tail and the hissing, those are good indicators that it was frightened, not hungry.

@thaidaym Its easy to breed reptiles. Simple childs project expecially a colubrid which only requires room temperature and moderate humidity. I would like to see him try and breed Emerald Tree Boa's.

Kingsnakes usually only rattle their tails in warning if they feel threatened. With him being so small, you're hand is freakin huge to him, and he's liekly not striking at the mouse to eat, but at your hand in defense. Go buy some feeding tongs from a pet store, that way your hand isn't right in his face scaring the crap out of him, and that way he feels less stressed during meal times. Thats probably the reason he won't eat in public for you, you stress him out. Never feed a snake w/your hands.
its less stressful if you just dont interfere with the feeding. he has good aim just not good grasp cuz its dangling. there is not rattle. all king snakes do it the sound is from the tail against plastic. mine does it if the dog tries to get close to his feeding box while he is eating.
