  • I've never seen that heat protecter before? do you know if it's in walmart with the other Giovanni lines?

  • In order to get the roots straight, some people carefully place the barrel side of the Instyler against their roots for a few seconds. Just like some people use the back of a hot comb for the roots and then use the comb teeth to run through the hair strands. Try it, but be careful! Your hair came out great :)

  • Could you do a review onthe spray you used before you blow dry it

  • This is a great tutorial/result video for the inStyler against natural hair. But I have a question - if you don't mind sharing, but what color red of red is in your hair?

  • Is going to work because if the brush it'll pull my hair

  • I don't think the in styler

  • I had an in-styler but gave it away. Didn't work on my 4b transitioning (at the time) hair.

  • why dont you try getting your roots with a flat iron first & then doing the instyler...i do that for my hair

  • i couldnt really hear lol but your hair turned out great!

  • Wow your hair is so beautiful! I have the same exact hair type and now I GOTTA GET THE INSTYLER :D Thanks for this great vid :)

  • i remember wen ur hair was soooo small....now its sooo long and thick... soooo proud of ur journey. keep it up! :))

  • lol, your reaction after straightening that first piece is exactly how I reacted. I was like "oooh, ok, InStyler" immediately went to twitter and told my homegirl to get one.

My hair was so shiny and flowy. I didnt even blowdry my hair before I used it, I let it airdry (hadnt planned on doing my hair, got bored and decided to try my new Instyler), I did use a paddle brush to brush out the kinks... went over each piece with the Instyler like twice and was good.

  • Before anyone uses heat in your hair it must be deep conditioned with protein before flat ironed so hair can revert. I have the zebra stripe instyler and i love it for my natural hair. I only do it in the colder months. My hair doesn't revert. Never use heat in the summer. It doesn't make sense.

  • You sold me I'm getting some

  • OMG I need that blow dryer!!!!

  • is it ok to straighten your natural hair in the winter time?

  • This is not going to work for me I have super kinky hair plus that brush on it my nut bought this fat iron and it didn't work at all I rest my case

  • Ur hair turned out great but that styler looks to be too darn big and bulky.

  • what kind of fingernail polish is that, it caught my eye instantly...please tell us!!!! lol

  • I definitely tried this a while ago and broke my Instyler! lol needless to say I was upset, but I now know that it doesn't work on my hair.

  • Did u use the highest temp or was it on medium???

  • @yaknell I used the highest temp.

  • Soo ur hair does revert back to curls after using the instyler ......I was afraid to use this because I had seen a review on a natural head and she said her curls never came back she became straight again permanently on one side of her head.

  • @yaknell Yes, my hair reverted 100% after using the instyler. See my Vid after this one on the Cassia treatment to see.

  • OMG I am sooo excited about getting this, I am natural to, and flat irons just do NOT work for my hair, unless i get my hair done!!!!

  • They need to pay you for doing this vid. My stylist said it wouldn't work because they don't get hot enough. I am kicking myself for not getting it last year on sale at Kmart UGHHHH

Oh we have the same type hair.

  • I love ur hair color in this vid, it appears you have highlights? what color and/or is it dyed?..thanks

  • Wow I dont have a guard on mine...They dun went and upgraded it on me.

  • your polish is BEAUTIFUL! what is that?

  • I was gonna buy me a new chi, but you have changed my mind. Instyler it will be, thx for the review.

  • Gorgeous Girl !!! Swing that Hair!

  • I have the instyler, and to tell the truth, you're waaaaay better off with a regular high quality straightener. True, it is better than drug store straighteners, but it is no match for a high quality straightener that you can get for ALOT less. I wouldn't buy it again...

  • Have you ever used a maxiglide to straighten your hair

  • I love that your hair has o much body, sometimes i see ppl straighten their natural hair and it just looks flat and stringy. this looks beautiful

  • Girl take that wig off ; )

  • I was skeptical about this instyler - until I saw what a good job it did on you! I thought the brush would ruin the ends

  • I've had the Instyler quite awhile now and it's just been sitting around. I used it a couple times when I was still relaxed/transitioning but I didn't think it was really doing anything. I won't be straightening my hair until nxt year around this time and I think I might actually try it then because you got awesome results!

  • I just saw the new one on QVC (12/2/11) & they have a great deal on it. I was watching it thinking if it would work on my hair. I may have to look in it ordering one. Good Job!!!

  • Your hair came out great and I am loving that color!

  • Bless you.

    1 Thess:4:11

And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you; KJV Bible

  • I've been natural for a little over a year and haven't blow dried or straightened my hair yet but your results are so beautiful I think I'll try this for my b'day!

  • So I was looking online and they make an Instyler with a smaller barrel. Do you think it would do a better job at getting to the roots?

  • WOW!! My mom bought me one of those for xmas one year, and I have never used it lol!! I'm going to use it this weekend though

  • lol - u know none of them girls look like me -exactlyyyy same thing i thought like your videos

  • luv your hair.....im not there on my natural journey but i watch your videos so when i do arrive!!! luv it!!

  • Love it. So beautiful. Now i have something else to put on my list of things to pick up. Great review

  • Thanks for sharing. I own an instyler myself and used it when I had a relaxer. I have only been natural for 9 months. I love your channel. I look forward to what you will be bring to us next year. Have a safe and blessed holiday season.

  • I always love your hair but this time thumbs up for the finger nail polish! I love it! What color is that?

  • Other than your hair turning out BEAUTIFULLY...I like your nail color :-)

    Two thumbs up!!!

  • THANK YOU! Someone else who likes the InStyler. I've been waiting for a good review from another natural. Yeah it's a pretty cool, and I didn't know about the follow method before my brother's gf got it so it was a nice idea.

  • Your hair is absolutely beautiful..keep up the good work.!!

  • I have been natural just about almost 15 months now and I love it. I also have the instyler. I love that as well. I get my roots very well with my instyler, but the only thing I have a problem with is once I have straighten my hair it poofs back out again. Is there anything I can do about that?

  • omg we got the same blow dryer and flat iron small world lol

  • To Get to the root ....FLIP IT UPSIDEDOWN BUT be careful not to burn ur scalp .

  • How long did it take you to straighten your hair?

  • @jasminelittle87 The entire process was about 2 hours

  • turned out really nice

  • What type of rollers did you sleep in you hair is beautiful and what type of moisturizer do you use when your hair is straightened.

  • @MsSuperEverything I used regular hard rollers and used metal clips to keep them in place (same rollers I would use for a roller set)

  • I did the same thing for Thanksgiving with my sister's Instyler and I was SOLD! I bought my own the next day. It eliminates the comb-chase method for me. I was also pleased that it didn't take extreme heat to straighten it. I used to be convinced that my ends were jacked up when I flat ironed because they were never smooth. But they got silky smooth with the Instyler.

  • oooohh i want one...

  • im torn between the Instyler and the Maxiglide, your hair looks awesome very beautiful i luv the colour....

  • omg!!!!!!!!!! so gorgeous! :))

  • great result, you look nice, it suits you, i dislike the way the flat iron makes my hair flat and limp, the instyler seems to give volume so i'd love to get my hands on one in 2012, might take a leaf from your books and do just that! but yeah i loved the outcome.

  • I purchased an instyler two months but haven't tried it...I have your texture hair so will be using it in the near future very encouraging for kinky textured hair which is very hard to get that straight.

  • Your hair looks great

  • Very Cute Jersey.....how long have you been natural?.....that's A LOT of Growth!!

  • cute! do you think the instyler is less damaging than a flat iron?

  • @NVme08 Yes, I believe it is less damaging. It smoothes and polishes the hair as it straightens and gives it ton of body. That heat is still heat though, but a better alternative to a regular flat iron.

  • great results girl!!

  • Your hair looks super healthy! Soo shiny and smooth. Lovin' it! You are definitely one of my faves to watch on Youtube! I think you and I are about the same hair texture (from what I can see). I may try it out. How much did your Instyler cost?

  • @Msleah90 Thanks, hun! My boo got the instyler on sale at Marshall's I believe. It was $79

  • @jerseystylezz Thanks! :)

  • it did do a good job straightening. But I think your hair would look great if you've gotten a Dominican blow out. that's only if you want more body and a more natural flow.

  • @tokyosuni I've heard horror stories about Dominican blowouts. I can't say for sure since I've never had one done though. I've seen videos though and the hair gets really straight!

  • @tokyosuni I got a dominican blow out last in November of 2010 and got heat damage from it. They get the hair super straight and bouncy for sure, but that heat will fry the hair. Not for me. I'll stick with my instyler.

  • PersonalIy, I dnt really like the style. It doesn't have any real, flow, body or volume. You do have beatiful eyes and natural hair tho :)

  • You have gorgeous eyes!

  • Well damn I might need to invest in one of these...i would have never looked at this flat iron twice bcuz of the brush...might have to check it out!

  • where did you get the instyler from

  • Wow tellsell was right after all... who would have known???? Love the result!!!!

  • Thank u for sharing... I really enjoy watching all your vids... u have such a wonderful personality n so humble! And your hair is gorgeous cherie!

  • Love the results, the instyler did a great job (-:

  • i luv it...my sis has one i didnt think it worked...thanks 4 sharing :)

  • Wow I am surprised too! With that thing I automatically assumed my hair would get caught up in that brush! I would've have NEVER tried it.

  • I used this and got the same results. Make sure you have the worlds best HEAT PROTECTANT. I used the Olive Oil one in the green bottle at Sally's and MISTAKE. Had to cut hair out. Cried. Stubborn about buying the Sally's Generic version of I think Chi or something. Which worked fine when my mom used a pressing comb to get a HARD press later. Haven't straightened since. For some reason I thought this was more harmless than a flat iron. Respect the Heat ladies in all forms. hth

  • It turned out really nice. Very impressed because like you, I didn't think it would straighten natural black hair like flat irons do

  • did it revert well? do you think the bristles will cause split ends?

  • @bruine24 I haven't washed my hair yet... I've been wearing it in a pony tail. I'll do a vid to show my hair after washing. I am not worried about split ends b/c of the bristles though. It smoothed my ends.

  • Looks very nice!!! I just purchase my pink instyler from qvc, cant wait to use it

  • It looks like it worked wonders and your color is still so fly

  • This is awesome! Had to watch it twice. We have the same hair texture and I haven't straigten hair yet but will consider buying this tool for a newbie. Thanks alot

  • Comment removed

  • You and I have the same hair texture so I will definitely order one. Your hair turned out beautiful and it has grown so much!!!!

  • can u please tell me were u got ur blow dryer from?

  • @4evaprincetonwifey I got the blow dryer at my local beauty supply store, but they sell them at Walmart now too.

  • Nice, i dont like instyler though. glad it worked for you

  • Nice, have you ever tried the Maxius Maxi glide, it works wonders with the Joico lotion.

  • If my memory serves me right, I think you're almost 3 years natural. I think you've had excellent growth! But I know we can be our own worst critics!! Looking forward to watching the next leg of your natural hair journey.

  • @MsChanteJ72 Yes, I'll be at 3 years at the End of January. Thanks! And aint that the truth! I always see where I need to improve rather than what I've accomplished.

  • Looks great and love the nail polish

  • I thought the samething about those commercials that why I never even thought twice about getting one....but your hair looks really good!! Might reconsider! lol Love it!!

  • it looks nice. i may suprise my girls with one now.

  • Hair came out nice! Thanks for sharing!

  • Hair looks great!!

  • If you take the guard off your Instyler and use rub the barrel on your roots before you straighten each section your roots get super straight. Just like using the back of a pressing comb technique. The Instyler is the only straightener I use on my hair. It is the only straightener that doesn't cause my hair to break.

  • I straightened my hair on thanksgiving too!

  • Really pretty hair. I'd be willing to try it.

  • how long does this last for?

  • @ChloeFranklin1 It stayed pretty straight for the first 6 days. I'm on day 8 now and my roots have completely swelled. I've been wearing it in a pony tail.

  • It turned out really nice!!! I love the volume and the fullness!!! You look really happy!!!

  • Very pretty

  • I didn't know that flat iron worked that good. Your hair looks beautiful.

  • i gotta get one of them now!lol. Beautiful hair!

  • Nice did any hair break off in the bristle and are the bristles hard?

  • @hotyoverhere I had no breakage at all. The bristles improved my hair and ends rather than hurt it. The bristles aren't really hard, but firm.

  • I love it!!!

  • Your hair looks great!

  • Wow i love it, and i also love the nail polish!

  • Looks great..you have had tremendous growth.

  • LOVELY,, WHERE CAN IGET THAT NAIL POLISH ?,, I JUS LOVE IT !

  • i like it,really nice

  • Nice!

  • Love it..it looks really good with the red in it:)

  • Very nice and the growth is great too :)

  • niiiiice!

  • Looks good!

  • Beautiful!!! I've had an InStyler for like over a year & a half or so, but I've probably only used it 3x..... LOL.... And I totally agree about the root thing!

  • what degrees did you set it to?

  • @NaturallyObsessed014 I used the instyler on Hi which is 385 degrees

  • Very impressive JS.It looks really good.

  • I LOOOOOOOVE Fantasia Heat Protector! I works wonders on my natural hair

  • Very nice! Love it! I may have to consider an Instyler when I finally decide to straighten my hair.

  • TOO CUTE!!!! how long do you wear your hair straight before washing?

  • @ebonyeyes116 I'm on day 8 now, still haven't washed it. I'll probably wash it tomorrow.

  • Wow! Beautiful!!! I do have a question for you or anyone else who could answer this. Ive tried to straighten my hair 2 times and by the time I'm done it's just fluffy and frizzy. Could it be because I'm pregnant or something I'm doing. I'm using a Maxiglide flatiron. Someone please help!! Thanks

  • gorgeous your hair has really grown how long have you been chemical free now?

  • @platosklozet The end of January 2012 will make it 3 years

  • Wow girl, I can see the difference between the straightening in your different video and THIS. It has body, movement and kinda makes me want to flat iron my hair too

  • Wow! Beautiful! Now I want one! Congrats on all the growth too!

  • wow

  • u hair looks different since u colored it..its changed

  • I want one

  • If you run the barrel (closed) back and forth close to your scalp, the same way you would if you were using a curling iron, it will straighten that portion too.

  • very nice on you!!

  • pretty!

  • Your hair is Beautiful and I will be looking for an instyler.. You may have said it on the video but: What did you use to protect your hair from heat damage? I saw you spraying something on your hair... Thank you :)

  • @KhristinaBray I used the IC Heat Protectant/Hair Polisher

  • I love it, hope the instyler is cheaper than the Chi..I can't afford all these tools lol!!

  • It looks nice ;)

  • LOVE IT!!! :")

  • Does the instyler have different heat settings? And if so which setting did you use it on?

  • @LiaRaquelle Instyler has 3 heat settings. Hi, Med, and Lo. The Low setting is about 285 degrees, the Medium is about 315, the Hi is about 385 degrees. I used the instyler on Hi.

  • Looks really good! Your hair is so pretty in both its natural and straight states. :-)

  • Wow! Awesome! Now I want one! Lol!

  • wow your hair looks pretty! i may have to get this because my flatiron sucks and keeps frying my hair...my curls just keep getting more loose and i don't know how to get it back to normal :( did this damage your hair at all?
