  • I WANT THIS MOTOR SOOOOOOOOOOO BAD !!!!

  • I want to build a straight 12 engine

  • @TheRalphus666 That would be awesome!

  • is it a side valve engine?? I only ask as the spark plugs are on top of the engine and it just looks like it is. Very nice engine though thanks for sharing :]

  • @DeepFriedFuzzball It is. :)

  • Sounds good

  • This low compression lump of iron will absorb a ton of heat, the brief time it ran won't hurt a fucking thing so get over it. I hear those straight eights would sag mid-block and break the crankshaft. I have a six in my 40 Pontiac business coupe.

  • @505197 The old codgers have loads of stories like that, like there was another tall tale about Dodges stalling over a bridge in winter or Fords were all oil burners. What does happen with an inline eight is that the crankshaft can develop what is known as a "whip" due to the length, but it depends on how many bearings it has and how it was designed. The "whip" effect could damage some of the main bearings but that would only happen by stomping the gas suddenly.

  • @OlegKostoglatov The story may be tall, but someone produced and sold a girdle/bridge that bolted to the botom of the engine to stiffen it. Mercedes ran huge hp straight eight engines in their grand prix racers in the thirtys. They rreamed the hell out of them and didn't have problems with the crank whippin. Course they took their power from the middle of the engine between cylinders 4 and 5. I read somewhere the long pontiac 8 blocks sagged in the middle, maybe that's wrong, maybe it isn't

  • i've got the same exact engine. except mine is siezed, in the woods, and the drive shaft absolutely will not disconnect from the transmission.

  • Remember an engine has to warm up before coolant will even circulate...

  • It's running a long time without water, not a good idea, many hot spots created internally.

  • @radzai ,

Please be advised this was the only time to run without water and was the initial start up after a rebuild. In my opinion it caused no harm and no indication of any has yet to be found. I would never do anything to a car to harm it as others post videos of attempting to blow up engines. This was posted to share the joy of hearing and seeing another brought back only not to offend.

  • NO WATER FOR COOLING?

  • thats a beautiful video, thanks for posting such a good quality one!

  • beautiful sound!
