sorry i don't agree with the comments with the levers i tried this once and could not snap at the brakes quick enough and ended up in hospital, i have now gone back to the 45 degree angle, also would just like to state if you have to lift your fingers like shown in the video to pick at the lever it put's your wrist out of line making it weaker and more prone to brakes if through your forearm and through your wrist and down the fingers through the brake are all straight it makes pt1 sorry
@icebearlover14 buy seperate units, i also ride downhil/cross terrain i have hope brakes and sram gears and its fine for me, they also look like bricks
I generally prefer to have my levers "up" a bit more so that I drop and stick out my elbows, not drop my wrists, and overall lower my torso. I find have more flexible movement available then.
I just stumbled onto these vids- great work guys! These small bits of advise are always usefull and don't mind the MTB gear reviews either. Thanks for posting, keep riding. Loc, Australia
No offence taken. I don't really see it as right or wrong advice in this matter, as Dave is says in the piece, this is what 'normally' works, but hey... whatever works for you that's cool with me. Thanks for your comments.
I'm confused by your comments Psychlopath. Are you saying the lever position is utter rubbish then agreeing with the advice? FYI Dave Smith is an ex Olympic cycling trainer and professional mountain bike coach. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the show ;) AB
I am saying a raised lever position is a positive thing, rolling wrists forwards loses control and should be avoided, raised levers position stops over rotation and falling forward on bike. Try it. I know exactly who Dave Smith is. Not meaning to cause any offense but on this he is wrong in this instance.

Advice on lever position is utter rubish. Higher level position encourages a break in the wrist and prevents over rotation on bike. Lower levers means rolling wrist forward and weakening position on bike.
at 2:00 i would just ride through the water

OK so let me get this straight...
You would buy something not for connivence but for looks? I mean sometimes looks is important too.
Secondly you are riding trails there is usually not that many riders near you.
I mean a hummer is massive and looks like shit but if you were to drive around offroad would you use a ferrari or the hummer?
Plus learn how to spell
They look like shit because they are massive.

As Dave says, this is what 'normally' works, if something feels better and safer for you, that's cool too. Thanks for your comments.
