It's actually amazing, how after about 5 years since their release of their debute album, Rush, they managed to release 3 more albums, amazing ones, and appear in THE Pinkpop Festival. All in that range of 1825 days (5 years)!

mr1wal... you are so right. I saw them every year from 1979 to 85 at the Allentown fairgrounds. I think it was the first show in 79 that they did an encore. It was Trees. Blew me away!

@Geddyrules2112. If there were any drugs in the audience? This is Holland! At that time Rush wasn't well known in Holland, after this festival they were huge. I was there at the festival at the age of 20. A couple of years ago I saw them in Rotterdam. I took my 12-year-old daughter with me. She was astonished by the skills of these great musicians.

That's awesome, really is. The Hemispheres tour was great. I saw them about a month before this show in the USA. It's too bad there isn't more available from this show or others from this era. They had a monster live sound back in 78, 79 and 80. Add the great songs and musicianship and it added up to some great shows.

I've seen that one. I don't think it's from a tour. I remember reading somewhere that they recorded the entire hemisphere's album live in an empty stadium, for whatever reason. I think the title track is still in the vault, but La Villa, the Trees, and Circumstances are all out.

How many people were there? It looks like a kind of Woodstock. I remember Neil Peart said on the "Rush In Rio" second dvd that the Brazil audience of 60,000 was Rush's biggest anywhere... guess he forgot about this one!!!

I was at Pinkpop 2007 yesterday, no one as good as Rush, just Smashing Pumpkins I waited 10 hours to see. Had to endure getting crushed against the front barrier by 30,000+ screaming dinkskin park fans too.
