@pheenix42 Tatra T77A has the second best aerodynamic in the world up to these days. it is not such a beauty but still quite interesting fact... too bad communism screwed our car industry :(
i have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old GM Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
always use 1% two stroke oil in your fuel to prevent engine and fuel system wear and corrosion caused by modern E10 Eco Fuel! Its just too dry and aggressive to your engine and pump and tank materials. 2 Stroke oil neutralizes the acid in the modern eco-fuel.
@nautiluZt1 A question, Since the Tatra cars and trucks are air cooled. How do they get heat to the cabin in cold weather? Really interesting machines.
BINGO! I remember in driving school they pictured us T603 as an example of car with separate/independent heating system it has to be switched off before entering gasoline station, if you dont want to learn fly :-)
@zonie1953 frankly I am not really sure. The trucks have standalone heater i dont really know about T603 and other limousines. I think they have it too.

@supersmrf That's communism, that's real communism. The Tatra 603 and the GAZ tschaika (can't spell it in latin) were the real heroes on the road in those times!
Man, that sounds so cool! It's not a motorsound, it's a music from heaven :-D. I could keep listening to it all the time. I must get myself a T603 one fine day :).
Them days Tatra 603 was a luxury car, nobody could own it but only the government. I was lucky to have a short ride it was very comfortable it seemed like sitting on the plane.
@thegreatkingdaniel : well it is original czech Tatra engine, but you are half right :) it is V8 but with air cooling - it is specific for Tatra, Tatra trucks is cooling by air too
@Klottelitsch You should sit inside one - it's as if you are flying, because the engine is so quiet and absent. It feels like driving a toyota prius hybrid. The only difference is that it uses 19-25 l/100km. And not to forget 1l of oil / 100 km. Our oil cooling sysyem has a hole somewhere.
There is a Tatra 603-1 alive and well in Sydney. It was imported new into Australia for the Czech Consul General and converted to RHD and has a floor shift
There was a Tatra T603-1 exported to Australia new for use by the Czech Consul General. It was converted in Sydney to RHD and a floor shift instead of column. It still exists in a deceased estate in original great condition...probably the only RHD one in the world.
What brother in mind? Better google Tatra T77 and T87 and you find out that all "new" things Tucker had in his car these had 14 years before him. Maybe it would be better to say, that Tucker was son in mind of Tatra...
A tatra 603 is a beautiful and great car, but it is everything else than a good car - in fact the tatra 603 t2 is one of the worst cars ever built - compareable to a Lada or to a Skoda 120.
How do I know that? - well I have a Tatra 603 T2 , which is great. But I have to invest at least 3000 Euros into that car per year because there is always something broken. I also have a Mercedes 180D (1955) and it simply works and works.
The trouble with cars from former communist countries is that their building quality was not constant. When fabricated after specification they were just as good as any car from the West, but unfortunately that did not always happen so there were some bad apples in the bunch.
I'm sorry but you are wrong. The tatra T2 603 is made of bad quality parts (such as all liquid containers, in general the whole chassis, and the whole autobody.) I know that because I have two Tatra T2 603. (one is perfectly renovated and the second is very broken - but good enough for spare parts.).
For example: my perfectly renovated tatra consumes 23l of fuel and 1l of oil per 100 kilometers.
(and yes, I only let real czech tatra oldtimer mechanics touch my tatra!!)
Well, that is pretty much considering "official" fuel consumption of 13 liters per 100 km. I am rather inclining to think that the engine of the renovated Tatra is in bad shape (maybe worn-out piston rings and low pressures in cylinders which makes you to give more throttle than needed).
