The backing track is a song called Magic by Auckland group The Teacups. The Teacups, an all girl band, started with two of the members busking. They have since become a trio, and have been making an impact on the Auckland music scene and are soon to release their first EP.
November 12th is the release date of Teacups' album 'Forest Fiction'. The release show will be at Hopetoun Alpha and the album will be available in a bunch of stores!
Perhaps Massey should discover what it's like to write and compose their own music instead of yet another tiresome and in this instance, rather unremarkable example of borrowed interest. Stop being so lazy.
It's a good opportunity for a relatively unknown band to get noticed you know. Why do you have to be so pessimistic? I think there is a mutual benefit. They are not being lazy, they are resourceful. The producer spent weeks of looking through myspace and youtube looking for the band and song.. THAT'S NOT LAZY.
Massey University management has been putting in a number measures to restrain spending by staff but the University still can afford this pointless TV advert?
I guess without this lavish spending on marketing all students will just stop coming and the university will collapse into financial ruin!
Get real linksvexier, even a 10 year old knows you have to advertise to increase sales and revenue. Why do you think businesses advertise - just for fun?
The point is, is that funding for student numbers is now capped by the government, Massey University is already 5% over it's cap, so any new student above the cap will mean that Massey will only get the fees the student pays, which is only covers 20% of what they cost. Therefore, new student end up costing the University. So drumming up more students is pointless.
OMG the teacups are sooo awesome :D Cant wait for the album!

It's a good ad, refreshingly different.

Pointless advertising? Every University needs to advertise to recruit new students. Plus I heard they made the ad on a tight budget!
