  • Excellent! Apply this in the auto industry, and everyone just have to burn their car after they crashed it.

  • TOH

  • make a car out of it and fix anything with a lil water!

  • Surely it just returns to whatever shape it was when you mined it, how can you change what shape it turns into?

  • @edgreen59 It wouldn't be mined as wire. It would have gone through a production process. Plus you wouldn't just mine it as Nitinol, it's composed of nickel and titanium.

  • @calumisdead sounds like someone went to Wikipedia. lame.

  • @NineTailsDemonFox It's retarded for anyone to think that this wire would return to the state it was in when it was mined and not realise that it would have had to go through some kind of production process. I already knew what this material was composed of, amongst other things about it, as I have an Associate degree in Composites Manufacturing Technology and have worked with Nitinol.

Sounds like someone is a faggot. Lame.

  • @calumisdead And your the one with a fag video on your channel. Sounds like someone's in denial. Don't rely on Wikipedia for all your facts- specially when others can change text.

  • @NineTailsDemonFox Cool man! I stand by my previous statement that I didn't go to Wikipedia, but why should I have to prove any sembelence of my intelligence to some fucking wad of sluff who wipes his own ass with his tongue.

  • @calumisdead You have an associates degree? from where, and who signed it? I'd really like to call the person who gave you that Degree to let them know that you take your facts from Wikipedia. You stated and I quote: "it's composed of nickel and titanium." Which is precisely what Wikipedia states. It doesn't say 30% this or 80% that, it clearly says "it's composed of nickel and titanium." You can state what you want about having an associates which means dick compared to a masters.

  • @NineTailsDemonFox A title of a related video also says that it's composed of nickel and titanium, clearly displayed. How could you known where I got my information from? And how else would you phrase the sentence "it's composed of nickel and titanium"? I'm sure many other sources in the internet concerning Nitinol also say that exact same sentence, as it a succint and clear may of giving that information. At this point I still haven't even read the Wikipedia article.

  • @NineTailsDemonFox

    Adventure time is the shit.

  • This is fun! Where can we buy it!

  • Hahaha toh... Where did you buy this???

  • Where do I buy this?

  • roswell crash technology

  • there's the word 'TOH'

  • This is how Christopher Walken created Optimus Prime. I see now!

  • So how do you set what the wire will look like when it is heated? Do you change its shape when hot and then once it cools down, bend it out of shape again?

  • test test, test test

ps: i only test if youtube works now, test test...does it work ??

  • That's how they made transformers!

  • yeah this is the wire used in braces

  • @jingleface Next time my friend says his wires are to tight i'm gonna tell him to stick his face in a pot of boiling water.

  • if i cut it i bet it wont get back in shape :b

  • If this was on the market I wouldn't have to buy new glasses each time I accidentally sleept on mine. Thank you science!

  • It is a smart alloy. The metal has layers that are bondic in a ionic latice. When the metal heats up the layers slide over eachother until they rest, in this case it is this shape. Not magic science. Magic is me not being arrested for paedophilia yet.

  • Amazing

  • I think this is what orthodontists use for braces

  • isthisreallife

  • " Yes, nicely done" *pours more hot water for no reason*

  • can you make it spell dirty words?

  • HOLY CRAP! IT SPELLED TOH THAT'S AMAZING!!!...

    oh... wait it spells hot...

HOLY CRAP! IT SPELLED HOT THAT'S AMAZING!!!...

  • This video cured my vision.

  • @Zimbeh Am i?

  • That was pretty cool, Hannibal Lector.

  • has no one seen this before? seriously? coincidently i saw it for the third time last week in science class

  • @lowtone10 I saw this video when it was cool you guys

  • Fortnum & Mason bowl... LIKE A BOSS

  • what if you tie it in a knot? does it snap itself trying to undo?

  • @boxpilot no, we had this in science class last week

  • @boxpilot

I got my hands on some of this stuff, and that was the first thing I did. It gets very angry and tends to fly into your face.

  • @boxpilot no and if you would google shit you don't understand . . .

  • @boxpilot I want to know this.

  • @boxpilot what happens if you destroy it and bury the pieces on the 4 corners of the earth, will they all fly back into one.

  • @sharpezor yes, the Iron Giant was made of this metal.

  • We should make buildings out of this shit

  • the very first step to Terminator

  • Otherwise known as a 'shape memory alloy'. Wonder if anyone's tried making a dildo out of this? ;)

  • What would happen if you tried to bend it while it was under water?

  • @AresHeroSC You change the state it reverts to.

  • @AresHeroSC Burnt hands

  • TOH! #fail

  • Batman uses this technology

  • Nothing special about this. Used a lot of of these as a magician to spell out cards etc. You can also use a lighter.

  • Are you a wizard

  • My dad works with nitinol every day

  • @Rahlified thanks i was just wondering if your dad uses this for work...

  • you sound like every educational english voiceover ever

  • This is the most British thing on the INTERNET.

  • @DieselGrunge Thanks for putting internet in caps there.

  • STEEL BATMAN APPROVES.

  • @TheTOH for real LOL

  • How do you make it predetermined?

  • @SylarTheGreat You heat it to a temperature hotter than warm and deform it. Then as it cools back to room temp it will remember that shape, and can be deformed and returned to that shape with a "warm" temp.

  • cool guerrilla advertising bro. how about sum muthafukkken science to back up your extraordinary video bitch.

  • They should build cars out of this. Bad accidents just wouldn't be so bad anymore.

  • can it be done with something other then a thin piece of wire?

  • What's a TOH?

  • No sir, that wasn't backwards.

  • @TheTOH LOLOL

  • @TheTOH lol

  • Nicely done.

  • He is a wizard!

  • He found that at Roswell in '47.

  • wohhhoohhow.. what he fuck just happen to the freakin' wire man??

  • did about this when i was 15 in school sorry

  • Stumbled from Ireland x

  • They should make cars out of this.

  • @SaintDapiea Or they could make ipods out of it.

  • Loving the Fortnum&Masons bowl.

  • Stumbled! Alexandria, Louisiana

  • stumbled!

  • Stumbled here from England x

  • fellow stumblers, look up this guy's other videos, theyre freaking awesome. link is in the video!

  • how do they give it the shape in the first place? do you just bend it while it's hot?

  • Shape memory alloys! You can also run a current through the wire with a battery or whatever to return to its equilibrium shape.

  • stumbled from ATL

and that's awesome. When are we going to see products with this tech?

  • thats why they call it SHTOOMPLE!!

  • They should think about making cars out of this material...

  • I think i saw this on CSI new york.. this really cool car had memory metal on it.. like they bashed into and it just popped into shape..

and when they brought it back to the lab ( a shard of the metal) they dented it with a hammer, then put a current through it and it just went back to it's original shape!

    cool stuff!

  • stumbled!!

  • stumblinnnn!! say wut?

  • dude? i don't think a string would make the metal spell the word "hot"

  • hahahha

  • @hairypringle You sir are an idiot... you need to go back to school and learn that there is suck thing...

  • Stumbled!

  • same here haha

  • Badass! Stumbled.

  • stumbled

  • thats really cool, but why does this giy have metal that says "hot"???

  • because of the hot water -.-

  • stumbled

  • stumbled.

  • stumbled.

  • we saw this in one of our classes in High School .. its pretty bad ass! does anyone know what its acually called ?

  • Hint. Re-read the title..It's called Nitinol

  • nitinol is the real name

  • They should make cars out of this stuff! Perhaps not the whole car that would be heavy and expensive, but front and back bumpers for instance. If you have a little accident, all you have to do is poor some hot water on! :)

  • fuunguus,

That's a great idea. too bad it wouldn't be as lucrative for car makers as making shitty cars that need service/repair constantly.

Capitalism isn't all that great in the big picture.

  • What if you twisted it 100 times?

  • The world ends.

  • @Doomessenger4654

    ahaahha :°D

  • Personally, I would've spelled boner.

  • @m4lvolio and this is why i hate youtube comments

  • Cool.
