@SlugLifeProphet Who are you to judge on what people can do? i don't see "You have to play for 4-5 years to learn this song" in the discription. Plus people can learn guitar in diffrent paces. What someone learns in a year another can learn in a month. That was a very ignorant comment and very untrue....
There are so many young guitarists (or old??) that think they can surf YT all day and learn to play SRV and Hendrix...etc. It doesn't work like that fellas. Put in a good 4-5 years, several hours a day, (at least) learning the instrument, learn how to play rhythm (correctly), learn some scales and modes and develop the proper dexterity and muscle memory......THEN start learning SRV. If the TABS for these licks were in front of you, you STILL wouldn't be able to play it. Great Lesson, btw.
wow people if you cant learn form this that means you are at a lower level of guitar dont attempt this song cause you probably will suck at it bad!!!!!!! If you know your scales and how srv played you can learn from this easy by lookin at the slow motion. Jesus people!!!!!!!
This is not really a begginner lesson people, this lesson is for yalls peoples, that can play a bit already.Ive already got a good bit out this lesson thanks man!!!
I learned the song just by watching his slow motion videos, didn't need to look at the tabs once! excellent way to learn and I can learn the pace and style of playing all at the same time! Please do put more videos, more SRV if you have any more in ya!!
Does anyone know how to do that classic SRV slide? On here it's at :47. I looks like he slides up to the body on the third string then hits two frets up on the second string then slide it or both the 2nd and 3rd string back down to the headstock. I've tried all kinds of stuff but just can't get that sound. Never seen anyone explain it clearly. Thanks
@notwaiting because this way its much more fun. Its like having a personal tutor teaching you the song. And there's nothing wrong with reading the tabs AND watching the video to learn the fingerings.
Why is reading tabs much more fun than reading music?
If you can master reading tabs, then you can master reading music, and you'll be much more accurate, much more adept, much more self-reliant, much faster at learning new stuff, much more faster at learning how to play other instruments....... which will be much more fun!!!
Learning how to read tabs takes time and effort, why not just take it up a notch?
I NEVER said reading tabs is more fun than reading music. I said watching the Video (+the tabs) is more fun than just reading the tabs! Of course reading music is the best way, anyone who ever laid a finger on a musical instrument for a few seconds knows that reading music is the universal standard!! I'm just saying watching someone play it on video is fun!
I'm a beginner - I'm not sure what you mean by "might as well read the tab."? How else do you learn a song?Do you mean tab is a easy way out, in a way? I don't mean anything to flame or confuse you, a person has to be so careful with my choice of words on YouTube....
It means, that the lesson doesn't tell you how to play it. It is just as good as reading the tab - actually, reading the tab is probably more useful than just watching one more guy playing the song.
Well It does still help to hear it, sometimes seeing the tabs doesnt give you the feel of it and this is better than just rewinding the MP3 over and over
@PilotDoofy Well this isn't for people that are good enough to play SRV's fast stuff. This is a video for people who WANT to be good enough to play SRVs fast stuff, its called practice doofus! sorry I mean doofy!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I would of much preferred SRV himself to have showed me how to play, rather than some Fucking mooch trying to make money off of other guitarist music....FAIL!
If it were a bit slower, I might not have to play it over and over and over again.. hahahah.. Nice job man. I appreciate all the stuff I can steal, from anyone, anyplace, anytime. lol.. Excellent job!
My thoughts are this: Put down your guitar and walk away. No, put down your guitar and RUN away from it. Im sure my opinion is in line with others as they read your assanine comments.
LOL you're the one tryin to be hard on the internet to a "kid" I asked a simple question looking to acheive this guys tone and you reply with a dick head statement. Everybody knows that a guitar and amp are the basics, but i was asking to see what pedals he was running through etc. And no, i wouldn't say that to your face, because one i'm not a prick, and two because you're probably some 40 year old virgin that lives with his mom. Thanks!
i love how i asked a genuine question and you had to reply with somethin like that. And for one i'm not the one big and brave behind my keyboard "a guitar and an amplifier" Take your cyber bullying elsewhere. Leave this "kid" alone.
Hi Tom... I think I knew you when you were in Bohemoth with some insane guy named Jaybird... Or wait, maybe it was Tunestone- ;-) Anyway... I married that guy Jay. I am enjoying your vids and found you by way of Sandy. LOL!

No lesson is good for everybody.
This lesson is great for someone at a certain advanced level, but not much help to a beginner.
If he geared the lesson towards a beginner it would suck for the advanced player.

Funny thing, people that are actually good enough to play SRV's fast stuff don't need a lesson, and certainly not a video tutorial.
