There are 3 sexes: Male, female, and intersex. Not almost all transgendered people feel dsyphoria, almost all transsexuals feel it; in fact for most of the video you should have used "transsexual" instead. I'm unsure if gender nonconformity fits under the term "transgender", and even if so your definition.. It's a bit faulty.
But nevertheless this is good enough for a project.
Thank you so much for making this! My friend Tyron is FTM but, as supportive and proud if him that I am, I don't know an awful lot about being transgender and feel a little bit embarassed asking him about some things, in case he feels uncomfortable about it or the answer is something really obvious. This video was really informative and I feel like I understand it a bit better now, thank you!
okay, some insight. why dont u just be happy the way you were born, i mean no point in wasing over half of your life passing so for 20 years you can be a male/female/both(not recomended lol)
@nerfreviewteam thats what cispeople dont understand, we were BORN as male(ftm) or female(mtf) just didnt get the right body to match. transition isnt about changing ourselves but becoming who we really are on the inside, which is why its necessary. i mean if you were born with the wrong body and you knew it, wouldnt you do everything you could to get the right one?
@nerfreviewteam Because its our choice. It's our choice what cloths we wear, what hairstyle we have, whether we have tattoos or piercings, what religion we practice, what foods we eat, where we live, the friends we keep, whether we want children or not, what books, tv, movies, and plays we watch and read, whether we love men or women or both, whether we want to get married or not, and how we want to be seen. Everyone wants to be beautiful to themselves. Everyone wants to love themselves. Cont..
@909Dwayne Yep, Being gay/straight/bi/ect is how we were born. It's completely natural. But it's our choice whether we pursue it or not, and to what extent we choose to do so. Kind of like its our choice as to how far we go in our transitions. What makes you feel comfortable with yourself is what matters. Everyone is different. And that makes us beautiful.
@nerfreviewteam What about plastic surgery, physical fitness, weight-loss, and make-up? You need to understand that for some people, the process to feeling comfortable with yourself can take anything from fitness to surgery. This is WHAT WE WERE BORN WITH. I am a man, in a female body. I love women and men. My fiance is just like me. Im beautiful to him and he is to me. Id give anything to make him, if only for THOSE 20 YEARS, completely happy inside and out. For him to be FREE. Free at last.
@nerfreviewteam Because it is agony to be in the wrong body. Its as legit as cancer, and GREATLY improves the individuals quality of life to transition to the RIGHT body. Telling a ftm to be happy in a girl's body is like telling a snail to break the sound barrier. Snails can't hear >:c
This is a really helpful video, Ryan! I feel like a lot of people don't realise that things like showering and handwriting and walking into a bathroom or getting a hair cut are things some trans people have problems with, but they really are! I know I worry about things like that, and more, on a very regular basis.
great video. i find tg to be inspiring for being who they are as a person. most teens freak out about gossip and parties etc. tg have alot more to be conscious of daily, and i think it is sad that they are not more excepted.
hnng why do i keep watching videos like this. They always get me all stirred up. Just when I think im starting to get over my dysphoria, BAM it hits me right in the face with a simple glance in the mirror.
Hey Ryan, I'm not transgendered, but I totally get what you mean by right pronouns. I cut my hair for work because they told me that I have to keep it out of my face, and it was easier just to get rid of it, and I've been referred to as sir more than anyone has ever called me ma'am, even before I cut my hair. I have family members that are drag kings, and I just think it's all really cool. :] just showing my support out there to all them queers (I'm also gay! :D).
Wow I never thought about handwriting included in dysphoria, but now that you mention it it makes me realize just how many layers of pain and anxiety trans people must go through every day, to have to pay such attention to details in every aspect of life. Happy Transgender Day of Remembrance. I'll be going to a vigil tonight.
i admire your desire to make this video, and i think i get your intent, but there a lot of generalizations that are just plain wrong.so many i can't possibly name them all.i am a ts female and just speaking from my own experience, i have no issues with public restrooms.and you make it seem like tg people have problems showering, like as in bathing ! lol! i can assure you ,i bathe daily and most of my ts friends do as well. & i don't think about passing all day long either.
@xQUEERKIDx I think it's important to differentiate between having problems showering at home in privacy and having problems showering within public places....i.e. gym changing rooms, swimming pool changing rooms. The latter obviously can and does cause issues for many of us.
@DJmichelleLove I as a transgender man have issues with public restrooms, hate showering, and all I ever think about is passing. Everyday I fear that the looks I am getting are because people think I am a freak or that I am female when it can be as simple as they are reading my shirt. I know a lot of FTM's that have the same problems and I am glad someone put this out there. I also like the fact that he did put not all, because we are not all the same. We have different experiences. Just saying.
@DJmichelleLove I think that some transsexual people have discomfort with showering because they have to deal with their naked body and they don't like what they see. It's not what they feel that it should be. I doubt that it's as bad with transgender people. From my own point of view, that would be the point of surgery, to correct the things that are incorrect on my body. Body dysphoria can be difficult for pre-op transsexuals.
ever since i was little i always knew i was supposed to be a boy
i hate my body espeacially when i have my period i am always super depressed most of the time beause of it
ive just started wearing breast binders and it makes me feel really happy with myself but i still wanna be mor like a boy and cant wait till im 18 and im aloud to do sumin bout it
dude, this was an amazing video. i appreciate the way you put pretty much everything that i feel, and most other trans people, inot words. sometimes it's really hard to explain to friends but most of mine are really trying and theyr'e really condsiderate. thanks.
The choice of music in the background is good: it stops the video from getting too despressing.
I agree with almost everything in the video EXCEPT that you should not ask transgendered about surgery. This is something many people are curious about and if they could simply ask such questions it would help them better understand how transition works. So I'd say: ask the question but be prepared to take 'that's too personal' for an answer.
@SambraveTheWise I agree that we are curiuos to know how much surgery one will get when we meet a transgendered individual but do we need to know that bad? We could learn by other sources if the person does not feel comfortable. The thing we'd want to do is to make a person's dysphoria even worse. What if they want surgery but cant and it's bothering them like hell?
@charlenemonique1 That's why we need to take NO for an answer. If someone doesn't want to talk about it, drop the subject. But there is nothing wrong with asking (once!).
lovely video xx
