  • the movie is named saving private ryan

  • Bullseye!! Right in the eye!!

  • Epic film..

  • @ the tomswampy, it is possible history channel reenacted the shot hathcock made using a period accurate scope, mythbusters used a modern scope that used more lenses.

  • Yeah, what about the blood on the wall ???

  • any one notice the blood painted on the wall at :58

  • hey its van diesel on the groung :D

  • Off-topic compaired to the rest of this 'discussion' : BOOOOM HEADSHOT

  • @TheTomswampy how is it impossible?

  • What's name that gun, who have that killed nazist sniper?

  • @BartexooC american: springfield germaan: kar98k i guess

  • thums up if you were expecting to see a killcam =P i did

  • lol I just wanna make something cealr, u cant shoot a sniper with ur eye too close to the scope, or u gonn get hurt, real bad

  • how can those rifles work when that wet?

  • for anyone who is interested and didn't knew it yet; this is a scene from the movie "saving private Ryan"

  • This shot is impossible to make

  • @Beefcake771 Quite possible, actually. Been tried and proven on Mythbusters. With a scope from that era combined with a FMJ bullet, it'll cut right through the scope.

  • nice

  • M'ericuh

  • 0:53 for $ shot.

  • Actually, we can say that is a great acting performance from Vin Diesel.

  • eyeshot...

  • Headshot!

  • Carlos Hathcock a US marine corps gunnery sniper ACTUALLY did this shot on hill 55. Hathcock took the NVA's gun as a trophy but it was stolen later from the armory. now thats an achievement. what a badass!!!

  • WOW SUPER SHOOT....TOM HANKS SUPER ARTİST

  • Comment removed

  • Dis is a good movie it's called "saving private Ryan"

  • eyeshot?

  • That soldier who died (I forgot his name, sergeant maybe?) is the actor Vin Diesel lol xD

  • FATALITY XDDDDDDD

  • look at that DICE, no scope glint

  • Nice shot?

You do realise that this is just a movie, right?

  • @MrMokeybusiness YOU are the dumb by asking this stupid question.

  • Jackson sexy beast:)

  • Sniping is a good job, mate!

  • LOL HACKER xD

    i love this movie

  • Good Move

  • Shaving Ryans Privates

  • also the russian pu scope the nva was using is not as long as a modren scope. when they tryed to debunk gunny hathcocks shot they used a scope that had more lenses in it and was twice as long.

  • Screw if the shots impossible or not. This guy is one bad ass. The best in the entire movie!

  • Headshot!

  • VOLLTREFFER!

  • mythbusters proved this to be impossible.. =/

  • @TheHenirik Actually, this shot is very possible with the scopes made in that era. Combination scopes did not come into common practice until much later. Even during the Vietnam War, Carlos Hathcock made a similiar shot to this. It is not impossible, just difficult and requiring perfect accuracy and angle. In fact during this last conflict in Iraq a Marine Countersniper made a similiar shot but he was using a larger weapon with a higher grain round.

  • @PictishPrince thank you for your good answer =)

  • @PictishPrince

Actually this scene is based on Hathcock encounter with a nva sniper.

    look it up in wiki...

  • @PictishPrince watched mythbusters?

  • @bulletinyurass I did, and also several other attempts to recreate the Hathcock shot. They all initially used compound lens scopes. When they used a correct scope, shot angularly instead of head on at a range, and used a correct sight picture (target in shadow with no refraction) they were able to recreate the shot in several instances. The shot is possible, just not a common occurence as the correct variables must be in play to achieve it.

  • @PictishPrince the stupid thing about most war movies, they are sooo allied propaganda-ish, proper german soldiers (waffen SS, Wehrmacht) where much more trained and skilled than american soldiers, also in tactics. i also heard few stories from veterans. in these movies all americans, .. are shown as heroes, but in real life most of them got slaughterd by the germans.

  • @bulletinyurass Remember the most sniper kills in WW2 goes to Russians, and most of them were Women. In WW1 it was Germany who registered more sniper kills. Spanish-American war was the US. Civil War was the Union, War of 1812 was the US, Napoleonic wars was Russia, And the War of Revolution it was the irregular forces of the Continental Army. Sniping has been considered bad for a long time, only since Vietnam has it been looked at as a good way of fighting.

  • @PictishPrince the most kills were from men and there were few women that got over just 200 most top snipers were over what 400 besides it's not the kills that matter

  • @PictishPrince

Um, no in WW2, the record belonged to the Finns.Simo Häyhä with 505 confirmed kills. No one else even comes close.

  • @EvilxMerlin dude u need to do a bit more research the Red army had by far the most deadly snipers in WW2 look up manes like "Vasilij (Basil) Shalvovich Kvachantiradze," "Ivan Mikhaylovich Sidorenko," and "Mikhail Surkov" all these guys got way over 500 sniper kills. In fact lots of soviet snipers reached 500+ kills during WW2. Surkov got 702 confirmed kills (highest confirmed kills i know of) and Sidorenko became Russia's #1 sniper with 1079 sniper kills 542 confirmed. Twice as much as Simo!

  • @JerodimusPrime

Um, none of those were CONFIRMED. Thats the operative word here. Mikhail Surkov does NOT have 702 confirmed kills nor does Sidorenko. Else they would have been quite a lot more famous in Russia. CONFIRMED. Got it?

  • @EvilxMerlin once again I advise u to do your research Sidorenko has 542 CONFIRMED kills- got it- CONFIRMED kills with an estimated 1079 total kills half that couldn't be confirmed due to the nature of snipers in warfare. Guys like Vasily Zaytsev where famous because he was the poster boy for the soviet propaganda on snipers not because he had the most confirmed kills. Lots of red army snipers got way more confirmed kills than Zaytsev. Do some research before u answer back and u will see.

  • @JerodimusPrime

No, they were not confirmed, only ONE historian made those claims, and he was the same historian that made the claim that serveral German pilots did not have as many kills as they did, when in fact they had more. Get back to me when you have PROOF of confirmed kills, not some "information" you got from Google or Bing. Historical proof, like Zaytsev or Häyhä both have...

  • @EvilxMerlin Wrong-The information I've taken has been backed by several Historical writers who saw fit to put it in their books I will list their names if you like. These same writers also back Hayha's claims of confirmed kills. If you are so right give me the name of this so-called lone historian that mad the 500+ claim and I will research him myself. Until then your claim is as good as mine

  • @JerodimusPrime

No, its not wrong, provide ONE author that has CONFIRMED kill information on either of the two Russians. Why are they not more famous in Russia? As for Häyhä, go read A Sniper: The Skills, the Weapons, and the Experiences, Out of Nowhere: A History of the Military Sniper, Finland at War 1939-45. All of which say he probably killed 2x that number, but historically documented at 505 confirmed. So where are these books you have "read"...

  • @EvilxMerlin and add another 200 with a sub machine gun if i remember right

  • @souldragon121

Yeah but we don't have factual documentation on how many Häyhä actually killed with the submachine guns he used. So much like the supposed Russian snipers that killed "thousands" until its fully documented, we just don't know.

  • @EvilxMerlin no there was a russian sniper who had 702 confirmed kills and around 300 of simo kills where with a machinegun so he was acutally a very good guerrilla but not such a super sniper

  • @IWANAROCKYEEEAAAA Tell his name, there is no records of an soviet sniper with such amount of kills. Also the 500 kills Simo Häyhä did were made only with the Pystykorva rifle he had.

  • @cappearma The 200 Suomi KP kills were not counted to the confirmed sniper kills.

  • @EvilxMerlin mikhail surkov 702

  • @IWANAROCKYEEEAAAA

No, there isn't. They are not confirmed kills. The Russians cannot even determine how many people Nikolay Yakovlevich Ilyin actually killed.

  • @IWANAROCKYEEEAAAA

Simo Häyhä has an estimated 705...

  • @EvilxMerlin you cant count machinegun as if they where sniper

  • @IWANAROCKYEEEAAAA

Just like you cannot consider non-documented or unconfirmed kills.Simo Häyhä hold the record for the most sniper kills still.

  • @PictishPrince im kind of late to this argument but i doubt that this shot was deliberate, it was just luck it traveled through the german scope

  • @PictishPrince

Not after changing scopes on a sighted-in rifle, as Reiben inexplicably did in this scene.

  • @TheHenirik soo?

  • impossible

  • I really hate vin diesel

  • @pepinozinanasshole

    bad actor indeed

  • wow fuckin wow best sniper

  • Movie name??

  • @gangstacedi i believe its saving private ryan

  • @gangstacedi

    saving private ryan!

  • @gangstacedi Saving Private Ryan

  • :D i have seen in TV

  • i heard a one of a U.S snipers did that trick in vietnam;]

  • that's my fav scene from this movie i think :) and my favorite movie too.

  • why are both the snipers eyes open FAIL!!!

  • @Becouse that's how many shooters do it, you can easily focus on the target with one eye, and keep the other eye open for peripheral vision, also I seem to recall that it helps the brain with depth-perception even if you don't look through the sights with both eyes. Have you ever tried shooting in a more serious way, or are your only experience with guns through movies and games?

  • This is not possible they tessted it on Mythbusters :P

  • @notavib haha thats wut i wuz thinkin too!

  • @notavib they tested it at short range... the bullet achieves its maximum energy AFTER during flight. for example, at nearly 1 mile the bullet's energy is way more higher than shooting someone in a head with shotgun from 1 inch. mythbusters can't make their tests 100% accurate... think about it.

  • That german guy has beautyful blue eyes.

    May he R.I.P.

  • @woobinda65 women....

  • @AbrudanDorin

    ???

  • no! dom! what happened did you lose the race or get caught jacking tractor trailers

  • i watched this video for the first time in 2008. now i have watched this video maybe i time every day. now its 2011 and i have always loved this video!

  • a classic xD

  • Saving private Ryan

  • Actually, the bullet would've stuck inside the scope

  • @goldbullet50 its a freak accident but it is plausible. tho its quite impossible in modern scopes theres more glass and its thicker but the older scopes were more thinner glass less of it too however there is a small hole sort of in the middle of the older scopes a bullet has to push all the glass through kind of but it is quite possible to send one bullet down a WWII scope. its just 1 in a million shot :P the fans in mythbusters had adam and jamie retest it and it was plausible =o

  • @tigresssharplesl And of course it depends about bullet. If it's .22lr, it would be completely impossible, but some .50 BMG would blow the scope so bad :)

  • carlos hathcock shot...

  • Armer Carpaso (keine Ahnung wie man den schreibt) Soldat James Ryan is einfach ein guter Film und vorallem die Szene.

  • lol its not a bipod its the clip for his rifle strap xD

  • Comment removed

  • @yahbud yeh alot of snipers wuld rip them off because theres actually 3 clips and that last one is hardly ever used by anyone because ur gun slips off ur shoulder when the strap is clipped into that one. its annoying to have that clip jingling around when ur running and stuff.

  • wtf wowow dam

  • the shot got the eye on the scope???!!!

  • Bulls-eye!

  • was this from band of brothers??

  • Comment removed

  • @29yoface Its from 'Saving Private Ryan'..

  • @idunwannadie ya but tom hanks is in the movie i never some him in this scene

  • @29yoface nevermind i saw the video again my bad

  • Fire hit! MOVE!!!

  • holy shit! what a nice fuckin' shot :) gg thumb up guys

  • @HauntedRomania no fag

  • Znam ten film :D

  • the german sniper need to move. he can't be in the same spot after shoting..

  • i thought he would run, then jump doing a 580 on air, throwing a knife, no scope someone while haveing a cooking granade...

  • Save privat rian ... Sir yes Sir

    Love this movie.Kritikal Hit.

  • its possible but depends on the type of scope being used. i cant remember the details but it can be done with a high caliber bullet and shooting through the right scope

  • it isnt possible to shoot trough the scope but it looks very nice!

  • @kampfsack2009

Oddly enough, it is possible, and it actually happened, though it was in Vietnam not in Normandy.

  • poned!!

  • This guy was a great actor. We watched this clip in USMC basic training to illustrate how to properly hold a rifle while standing (calm, loose forearm grip). The reason he pressed the scope to his eye is because that is a "shot-through eye appliance" attached to the back of the scope by the special effects guys. It contains a small explosive and that gory patch that sticks to his eye when Private Jackson shoots him.

  • i saw this a couple of years back and i was in the age where you can watch a movie 500 times and wanna watch it 500 more. so I know every word :)

  • @erikgiles1 Rifles*

  • Best WarMovie Ever !!

  • that was a good movie

  • saving private ryan was a GREAT movie in its day

  • if you put the scope of a rifle in your eye.. when you shot.. you shot also you eye away ;)

  • crappy actor ... if that caliber wuz a lil bit bigger that would ben one shot - kill ur self and the other guy.... or atleast a black eye :)

  • THUMS UP FOR NO REASON! : )

  • The german sniper has the scope right against his eye which he shouldn't be doing

  • @MrBen62 its called a extended scope glove. the scope is not against he eye. it blocks side view light. everybody is a pro on you tube numb nuts.

  • @TheGunning63 how the hell would you know, seems to me that your a cod nerd who knows everything to guns. your retarded there is no such shit as a 'extended scope glove'

  • the reality is that an ordinary sniper bullet can't penetrate a scope. the mythbusters even tested it and proved it wrong

  • @dakiler2028 Actually, it did go trough - but they had to use an AP bullet, all the other bullets almost got trough.

  • @dacel88 no lol they should have used a 50 cal

  • @dakiler2028 an they used different snipers buddy, it would go through

  • @crunkman24 unless you have something of the .50 caliber round of course it would penetrate, but the springfield's 30.06 bullet wouldt because it would break into shrapnel

  • i love snipers

  • what a cute little bipod at 0:49.

  • @blaCops99

Pff. Whatever! That bipod KICKS ASS

  • @blaCops99

Pf, whatever! That bi-pod kicks ass!

  • @blaCops99

Think it was just the sling swivel.

  • @blaCops99 thats funny but its a sling mount

  • @blaCops99 no that is the strap holder

  • @blaCops99 its not a bipod

  • @blaCops99 well, thats not a bipod..

  • Now he's FUBAR hehehe

  • pwned

  • good shot! i like snipers!

  • That German did a good thing :(

  • that german waited too long!

  • nahh looks like a hitmarker for me

  • Best war film ever! R.I.P. james ryans brothers :^)

  • lol i have this movie

  • ouch!!

  • In the real life German sniper would win.

At the D day the german sniper killed tons of americans.

    The film is good.
