I never acheived either move, but I think a front lever is considered easier, than a planche. Certainly than a straight body planche, but even than a straddle planche. They use different strengths (planche is more deltiods, lever more bicep/lats). But for the average person, they will likely get a front lever first. In gym, I think front lever is an A and straight planche is a B or C.
Front lever is "easy" compared to a planche. Frong/back levers are A class skills, while a straddle planche and iron cross are B, and a full plance is a C. So its two grades harder, if that means anything to you.
Well i have been training for the planche. I am relatively close, i just need to get my balance and a bit stronger because on the parallettes i can hold it for like a second or 2 sometimes.
I don't really know much about the front lever. I have been just working on them with no set schedule. This summer ill start working harder. You should read Coach Sommer's front lever guide. It will show some good progressions to get the front lever.
weighted pullups won't necessarily build you up to a front lever. there are easier lever positions where you're tucking or straddling to help build up all the associated muscles to function as a unit. you should get coach sommer's book.
It's completely dependant upon the individual. Some people have a natural inclination to be stronger at their pushing exercises (like the planche), while others have massive lat strength. So, it's difficult to say for certain which is easier.
Have you ever watched breakdancers with shirts on and what happens? The whole point is that if you train with just shorts, you have no clothes holding you back (like pants) and you have no shirts falling in your face. Its just easier i guess.
@wazzy198 Excercising shirtless has a lot of benefits and advantages. First as u point out no chothing falls on ur face or gets twingled somewhere. Second u don't sweat as much and ur sweat evaporates. Third , u feel a lot more free and secure. Fourth, u and ur mates can watch exactly how and what muscle groups u're working. And finally, it's a lot more aesthetic.
If anyone is concerned about shirtless gymnasts or sportmen in general, i guess there's some repressed homosexuality bothering there!
@alexyomero76 well i also would like to exercise shirtless in the gym but at my gym no 1 does so it will be like very very weird and it bothers me cuz most of them look gay

Front Lever is without a doubt easier to achieve than a planche.
