  • This is Skyrim's cousin... Though at least this doesn't have bugs.

  • @gdfjb1993

Every game has bugs, you just need to find them. Though, in the case of Skyrim, they seem to go out of their way to hit you in the face.

  • This is the game of the generation.

  • I guess I'm like the only person who likes cut scenes.

  • ZOMG he didn't like the game! This review sucks! Seriously, people, take this with a grain of salt. This is one person's opinion. I personally find the game amazing, despite its long cutscenes. (Metal Gear Solid is the biggest criminal when it comes to this, and Xenoblade's cutscenes are not nearly that bad.) Bottom line is, if you are an RPG fan, get Xenoblade, or at least give it a try.

  • @mirokyu Can you pause during cutscenes, though? If so, I'm cool with the long cutscenes.

  • Wow this was indeed a poor review.

  • I agree with this review. The battle system ruined the game for me as I felt it I had no control of what was going on and I ended giving up. Got to say, the soundtrack is wonderful though.

  • This is coming to North America, but only in Gamestop.

  • @weirdproq1 Or on Nintendo's site 12/19/2011

  • @weirdproq1

I actually preordered ordered the game but I didn't think it was as good as the hype. I couldn't keep playing it because I didn't have the time to waste. I never got really into the story. One day, I put the game down and I just didn't pick it back up.

  • Horrible review. While I am anticipating The Last Story, Xenoblade is freaking awesome! I imported my copy and have no regrets. The game is massive, and you fail to highlight any of it really. The cinematics are just fine. The story is great, the music is wonderful, the game play is fine, the world is beautiful, and the complete game is epic! This review is just disturbing. It makes me wonder how you got your job. You present the perfect reason why I think all reviews are worthless to listen to.

  • This review seriously sucked. Maybe you should try working for IGN....although even they made a much better review for this game.

  • @Dexter158 Ha. they made a "better review" because their opinion was the same as yours. Just because you disagree doesn't make this review bad. some of us can actually appreciate a different points of view.

  • This wasnt really a good review man

  • Having 30 minute cut scenes is insane. It is rare that I'm able to sit down for hours at a time and play a game. With my busy schedule, I usually will be able to play games for half hours sessions. Unless you can stop the cutscene, turn off the wii and resume the cutscene later, then that feature sucks. I buy games to play them, not watch them. If I wanted cinema, I would watch a movie.

  • I am sorry but this was a poor review go back to playing your ps3.

  • I have the game and the dungons are not that long. What? I like the story and soundtrack.

  • hey how i get fatal frame 4?? other beside of amazon or ebay??

  • "Damn! A game that actually tells an interesting story with creative and respectably choreographed cinematics. I'll go bitch about it on YouTube like a champ because I have the patience of an electron."

  • where is his review of Pandora's Tower? I cant find it in any video?

  • I think it's on the GameZone website only. Google it (GameZone Big in Japan Pandora's Tower), the video is from June 17, 2011.

  • @15V31F yeah did that yesterday after thing "d'oh me"

    Thank you tho :)

  • Wait, the AI is bad? Do you honestly think it could have been better? If your healer keeps dying, it's your fault. Probably because you didn't understand the aggro mechanics very well or you never switched characters. The game doesn't play by itself, you know.

The cutscenes? Too long? You could've skipped the entire thing if you thought it was cheesy. At least after the cutscenes the effect of contrast from a full-scale battle to uncovering a new area is very effective (trust me on this one).

  • you're a fking cheeseball mate

  • I'm assuming that this guy doesn't know Japanese, if he felt the cutscenes were long. Absolutely, absolutely not true. As you'll notice from the comments and the amount of "thumbs down" he's getting, a LOT of people disagree with him.

Also, outside of dungeons and cutscenes, you are able to explore and unlock the map, there are achievements, you can fill up your Collectopaedia for rewards, there are TONS of side quests, you can collect crystals for gem-crafting, and reconstruct Colony 6.

  • you **** nerd, omg

  • I completely disagree with his opinion of the cut scenes and pacing. This review reminds me a bit of the "Navigator" series of reviews. It was fairly interesting and informative, but I think it failed to really present the entirety of the game.

I have a two-part review on my channel of the UK version, Xenoblade Chronicles, you can see it by clicking on my username. I tried to cover as much as possible.

  • Nothing to do outside of Dungeons and cut scenes?

Did you miss the 100s of side quests, crafting, affinity systems and just the joy of exploring a great world?

  • Poorly paced? poor precision? talky?? POOR FORM Richard.. especially after I enjoyed your 'last story' review... poor form...

It's either a case of not playing the game or not understanding it. I've played 40 hours with NO pacing problems (If anything I've chosen to do the side-quests - these are not mandatory - but it's a great way to bond with the in game world/characters). The cut scenes are stunning, and I've not had issues with the battle system or with targeting enemies!!!

  • Creepy, creepy nerd

  • Awful review....Xenoblade is the greatest jrpg to apepar in the last decade - its been universally praised and is far and away the stand out game from the Op Rainfall trilogy. Takahashi is the guy behind Xenogears and Xenosaga 1, he is arguably the best director of jrpgs there is. I really think the criticisms this guy levels as the game are weak as hell...

  • The over dramatization of the length of the cut scenes is absurd. Really? God forbid someone try to tell a story though cinematic expression instead of having you simply press A or B with Quick Time Events. It would have been nice if you would have tried to cover some of the other parts in the game, relationships between the characters and how you could tweak your skills and bonuses that way/see more of scenes to add character depth or the scenery or something.

  • and another idiot who thinks last story is better than xenoblade...poor guy !

  • @teelein have you played these games?

  • @sHART1780 of course otherwise i wouldnt have said my opinion.

  • I don't know why homebrew channel comes to mind right now..

  • Giant robot is talking to small people. SO JAPANESE :D

  • I'm playing this game and one major short coming of the battle system is the lack of ability of take over controls of another character during battle. In most cases you want to control the damage dealer, but there are times when the healer is not doing what you want, you can't manually switch control. That really bothers me.

  • The Bad pacing is similar to FF12?

  • Maybe you think it's to talky becouse its japanese and you don't speak it? Or do you? :p

For me the Xeno games have always been about story and cutscenes a lot, and from what I have seen the cutscenes are shorter than in Xenosaga and Metal Gear Solid 4.

The review is not bad, but not really in dept either. Xenoblade has a lot more features to it, like for example the expansive customization of your characters and the "bonds" system thing. All in all I feel it could have given more info... Sorry

  • @royvanderschilden Richard lives in Japan...

  • @EnvyMizuhashi Aha, still, his Last Story review was a lot better and in-depth, this one seemed a bit rushed to me, and missing many things I actually like about the game.

  • @royvanderschilden You have a knack for removing your own comments for error, don't you? hehe

Anyway, as far as depth is concerned, maybe this review felt rushed, but it's more than what he could speak of in 5 minutes, so I think it's pretty straightforward. His El Shaddai review is 3 minutes long and it's still pretty good.

  • @EnvyMizuhashi Lol yeah I want an edit button. I hate typos! :P

I just watched it, it's ok, but I seem to like long reviews. In a review I want to know about all the features, at least all the major ones, or else I am not sure if should buy it.

I am going to buy Xenoblade anyway though, played the Japanese version and it's a great Japanese RPG with some western tweaks. I miss the old ps2 rpg's sometimes, I like western RPG's a lot too but I am getting tired of the boring medieval settings. :S

  • @royvanderschilden I'll admit, I did actually write a section including information on the "bonds" system (as well as a part about the equipment stones), but as I was nearing the length limit for the video I cut it. Basically the bond system is incredibly flawed. It lets you equip a stat buff from one character onto another. The problem is, you gain these stat buffs buy using the characters. And since you only use the same 3 characters I didn't find it of much help.

  • The equipment stones on the other hand we're cut because their pretty much self explanatory in use, while their crafting would take a 5 five minute video to explain all on its own!

  • Good Review. I have to say, of the 3 RPGs, this has been my 2nd most wanted. It looks like fun, great story, good gameplay, etc, but it looks like it would get boring after awhile. I do hope it comes out in the US. I really want all these games. (mainly the last story since FF13 was SHIT and I think it could replace FF in my mind!) I support Operation Rainfall 100%

  • Very good review, I plan to get it when it comes out in Australia but a little skeptical on how the pacing of the game will keep my attention.

  • @Darkmessiah24 Honestly, it found it taxing and a real slog at times. As I said in the review, the pacing is the game's biggest flaw.

  • @Darkmessiah24 don't worry, the pacing is actualy great if you take your time.

  • I wasn't looking forward to this game anyway. I am typically an action gamer, but I am always open to an RPG that changes things up and does bore me....I think your review was a good warning while not trashing the game at the same time.

  • @stringanime If you're looking an action filled battle system in an JRPG I wholeheartedly recommend the Last Story. Fast paced and action filled is the way to go.

  • I've been waiting for a review of this game!!!
