I'm going to wait to actually see this movie before I judge it. It seems to me that the editing for the trailer made it seem like something it's not. I think the part where she said "the cumulative energy allows him to see their soul" was spliced at the end of "he found the equation."

That would be like saying, "Jeffry Dahmer ate people so they would become a part of him forever," twisting it to make it seem like fact rather than what the man thought.
